ECW Recap

Cue the usual "Hulkamania is runnin' wild" spiel to start the show. Swagger is sitting in the middle of the ring. "It's bad enough what happened at Backlash but what happened at Judgment Day is a travesty.

I'm not leaving this ring until I have justice." Swagger sits in his chair and waits patiently as two refs come down the ramp. "You can tell blondie if she wants me out of this ring she can come tell me herself. I'm not budging." After another 30-40 seconds Tiffany finally comes out and walks down to the ring. I don't think the crowd knows what to make of this. "Jack, get out of the ring. Jack, get out of the ring. Jack we can discuss this in my office, get out..."

Swagger: "Am I disrupting your show? TOO BAD. I'm not leaving this ring until you make this right. Christian is walking around with my title and he's never beaten me. He cheated at Backlash and at Judgment Day he cheated AGAIN. That's not fair! And since you like to think you're in charge, I blame you."

Tiffany: "You do not get to take this show hostage." Tiffany: "What are you going to do? I don't have to listen to you. I'll be here a lot longer than you will. Face it Britney Spears, I'm the one these people pay to see. You, you're just a temp. I'm the uncrowned champion!" Tiffany takes his mic. "This temp has the power to make SURE you remain the uncrowned champ, because I will make sure you never get an ECW title shot again. So Jack, you're going to leave this ring, and you're going to leave right now. GO."

Jack very slowly gets up and very slowly starts to walk away. Tiffany apologizes as he walks off and says let's make things right and get started with our first match! She introduces Christian Cage. Cage's music hits and the two exchange looks on the ramp. Swagger shoves him off the rampway to the concrete and Cage takes a bump on his knee, and gets up limping. We go to commercial.

We come back to a promo for Ric Flair on "Raw" next Monday. Apparently he's going to call him out for a "fight" next week.

* Christian 'Captain Charisma' Cage {C} v. 'Pirate' Paul Birchill (w/ Katie Lea) (Non-Title Match)

Christian is still selling his knee in the ring as the ref calls for the bell. Paul gives chases as his "sister" lears at Christian on the outside. Christian with an arm wringer and a double leg takedown from behind but Paul pops right back up. Striker calls Paul a scoundrel of skulduggery on commentary but he's not cheating successfullly, or at least not yet, as Christian takes him down again.

Paul manages to push him backwards into the ropes and the ref calls for a clean break. Christian hits him with an elbow and tries to climb the ropes but Paul sweeps the leg and sends him tumbling, then when they spull outside he throws Christian into the steel steps and he sells the kneecap and the left knee even harder.

Paul keeps working over the knee. Commentary seems awfully quiet as does the crowd. I guess once Vince McMahon told Striker to stop being whacky and making hip-hop and pop culture references, he ran out of things to say. It's kind of sad they would handicap the best announcer they had like that. Paul ties up the leg in some sort of modified figure four but Christian manages to roll and grab the ropes for a clean break.

Christian finally manages to counter into a tornado DDT off the ropes for a near fall, but is getting up slow and selling the knee. High back bodydrop. Christian hobbles over to continue the offense. He seems to be warming up for the Killswitch. Paul whips him into the ropes. Christian fends him off with kicks and then gets a sunset flip for 2.9. Paul clips the leg and goes to pick him up, Christian tries to counter into a Killswitch, Paul counters back into a hard overhead suplex for a near fall.

Paul spears him into the corner, backs up and charges, but Christian kicks him through the ropes and comes off with a flying uppercut. Paul gets up woozy, Christian hits the Killswitch and hooks the leg for three. WINNER: CHRISTIAN CAGE. At least the crowd got into the comeback and the finish. We get a replay of Swagger's attack before the match and highlights of the match itself before the eventual finish.

Christian is interviewed by Josh Mahews: "If Jack Swagger, didn't like what happened at Judgment Day, then he's gonna hate what I'm about to say right now. Three weeks ago in Madison Square Garden, Tommy Dreamer issued a challenge to me, but Swagger interfered and had that match thrown out.

Since then Swagger had his rematch and he lost, AGAIN. So right here right now I'm going to issue a challenge to Tommy Dreamer. I know your contract is up in three weeks, so I'm issuing challenge right here and right now for the ECW Championship." Christian limps around the ring and poses with the belt for the crowd as they hold up their Peep Zone signs. Teaser for David Hart Smith's mach with Finlay later as we go to break.

In Tiffany's office, Swagger is told to take the night off before his mouth gets him in more trouble. Swagger: "Whatever!"

* Zach Ryder v. Adam Green

Ryder has his own theme music now, and Green is already in the ring before the match begins. If those two things don't tell you who's jobbing in this match, nothing will. WOO WOO WOO! Striker tries to put over Green as a master of muay thai but he's a master of getting beaten up by Ryder as they discuss how many friends he has on Facebook.

Ryder grabs the left arm and hits it with kicks, yells out WOO WOO WOO to annoy the crowd then cranks on the neck. Ryder has wrestling trunks with one pant leg on the right. It's weird but at least the purple matches the headband. He hits a finisher that looks like a reverse Playmaker for the three count. WINNER: ZACH RYDER.

They debate about who is a tool before deciding that Adam Green is the tool in the ring and not Ryder before going to highlights of David Hart Smith and TJ Wilson doing the Hart Attack last week, before having their hands raised by Natalya. Backstage Natalya is with both members of the New Hart Foundation.

She tells DH Smith that his father would be so proud of him (Davey Boy Smith a.k.a. the British Bulldog) and he says "Of course he would! After all I'm better than he ever was." She smiles and agrees. I like they are trying to get over a heel faction on ECW, but that felt unnatural and forced. Commercial break.

Replay of Chad Collyer getting beat up by the Moscow Mauler last week when we return from break.

* Vladimir Kozlov

Did they only hire one jobber for the night? He comes out to the top of the ramp dressed in a Russian military uniform straight out of Street Fighter II and cuts a promo in Russian. Couldn't they have Adam Green get squashed again? He finally says in broken english that the Russian army is the best fighting force in the world and he is the best fighting force in ECW, then says something else in Russian, then poses with a sneer on his face as the music plays. In the words of Jack Swagger, "Whatever."

Gregory Helms is outside Tiffany's office. He says Dreamer v. Christian will take place this Thursday on WWE Superstars. Dreamer: "I want to thank Christian for giving me this opportunity. He didn't have to do it, but it shows what kind of man and champion he is. I don't have much time left so I'm not going to waste it, I'm going to use this opportunity to become ECW Champion." From there we throw to Finlay walking to the ring backstage, looking fit and ready (sorry couldn't resist the pun) as we go to commercial.

* David Hart Smith (w/ Natalya & Tyson Kidd) v. Fit Finlay

DH Smith comes out to a remix of Bret Hart's music. I like it. I like it a hell of a lot more than Zach Ryder's pretty boy pop. Finlay comes out to his usual Irish jig. The match gets underway at 10:45 EST, which means this will probably take about 20 minutes of TV time including the overrun. Why they feel the need to have an overrun on ECW is totally beyond me. Finlay is in control early and puts DH in a headlock, then pummels him with punches and uppercuts, then finishes with a hard clothesline, an elbow to the forehead, a hand stomp and a near fall. Finlay even htis a knee lunge to the face. Takedown for a near fall.

DH finally rolls out to get a breather, tries to grab Finlay's leg, but he kicks him off hard and goes out to throw him back in. DH catches him as he comes back in and goes on offense to the applause of Natalya. Finlay gets the advantage back and gets a light crowd chant as Tyson Kidd looks on, knee drop to the left arm, two count. Finlay cranks on him for a submission and the ref asks DH if he wants to quit - he says no of course. DH gets a foot on the rope and Finlay is forced to break. He gets it a second time so Finlay drags him to the center of the ring.

Smith wriggles his way back to a rope break so Finlay drops another knee in his face and works over the left shoulder. The way Natalya slaps the apron sounds like the ref counting a pinfall - she should work on that. Finlay with a nasty backbreaker for two and DH rolls out again. Finlay kicks him in the head and goes out to the floor for more punches, but DH hits a running power slam on the floor that looks a lot like the running power slam his dad used to do. We go to break with Finlay selling on the outside.

We come back at 10:55 and DH is laying into Finlay with impugnity, focusing the brunt of his attack on Finlay's back. He applies a chinlock and asks the ref for a verbal submission, which Finlay of course refuses to give. Tyson Kidd smiles on the outside watching his familia work Finlay over. Running clothesline for two. Striker sells the idea that a taller man's clothesline always hurts more. Finlay is getting his butt kicked every which way from loose.

It seems like the story of the match is going to be 9:30 of one man on offense, 9:30 of the other doing the same, and a minute to take it home in the overrun. On a segue I was talking to a friend of mine at Best Buy today and he said the one WWE show he still likes every week is ECW because they put over the young guys and the new guys. I told him "You'll really like tonight's show then because the main event is DH Smith v. Finlay" and he IMMEDIATELY scoffed. I was surprised, but he told me he's tired of seeing Finlay, even if it is with DH Smith.

I suppose its different strokes for different folks but as I pointed out at the time, who BETTER to put Smith over than a long-time veteran (not to mention technically sound) worker like Finlay? Anyway back to the match - DH goes from a camel clutch to a headlock to a takedown for another near fall. Mathews expresses surprise that anybody would ever manhandle Finlay in the ring, and then the commentary gets quiet for about 90 seconds.

Finlay gets a schoolboy rollup for a near fall and goes on offense, which means it's just about time to go home. Finlay goes for the celtic cross but can't pick DH up clean due to the attacks on his back. He clotheslines DH to the outside instead, goes to throw him back in, then has to fend off the attacks of both Natalya and Tyson Kidd.

Kidd tries to get into the ring, the ref stops him, and that gives Natalya the time to throw DH a foreign object to blast Finlay in the head with. Was that a shoe? High impact back suplex afterwards by DH for the three count. WINNER: David Hart Smith.

The New Hart Foundation all get in the ring to celebrate with him. Apparently Natalya threw in one of her high heeled boots. Finlay is down and out in the ring, and he has just a trickle of blood on his forehead - I'm guessing DH didn't pull up on the boot shot. The NHF back up the ramp, all smiles, as ECW goes off the air.

Huge Problem For "Raw" Next Week

The following is from ESPN.com:

Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers are scheduled to be at the Pepsi Center in Denver next Monday night.

Problem is, so are John Cena and a bunch of wrestlers — and they called it first.

World Wrestling Entertainment said it is booked at the arena for an episode of Monday Night Raw, the same night the Nuggets are slated to host the Lakers in Game 4 of the Western Conference finals.

WWE chairman Vince McMahon told The Associated Press he doesn’t believe there was “any malice, just ineptness,” on the part of Kroenke Sports, which owns the team and the building, but can’t tolerate the company “just simply throwing us out on our ear.”

Without a quick resolution, McMahon plans to send his trucks to Denver.

“That’s what we intend to do,” he said. “We’re going to show up.”

Pepsi Center officials told the ABC television affiliate in Denver that the Nuggets game will be played as scheduled and that they are working with the WWE to reschedule or move its event.

WWE spokesman Robert Zimmerman said the organization secured the Pepsi Center last Aug. 15 and has already sold more than 10,000 tickets for the event. He says the organization expects a sellout, with tickets ranging from $20 to $70.

McMahon blamed Kroenke for not believing his team was good enough to still be playing in mid-May.

“The fans in Denver had a lot more faith in making the playoffs than the owner,” he said in a phone interview from Louisville, where Raw was taking place later Monday night.

Denver is usually done with basketball by now. The Nuggets had lost in the first round five straight years, but as the No. 2 seed in the West are in the conference finals for the first time since 1985.

The Nuggets referred comment to the NBA, which handles scheduling during the playoffs. Kroenke Sports also had no comment.

However, the league is leaving it up to the team and the WWE to figure things out.

“The Nuggets and the WWE understand that the date of Game 4 of the Western Conference finals cannot be changed,” NBA senior vice president Mike Bass said. “We are confident that the Pepsi Center and the WWE will resolve their scheduling conflict.”

Zimmerman said the Pepsi Center confirmed in March with the WWE that the organization wanted to keep the May 25 date, and sent a contract on April 15 — the final night of the regular season — which WWE signed and returned. Tickets went on sale April 11.

The conflict didn’t arise until Sunday, when the Lakers beat the Houston Rockets in Game 7 of the Western Conference semifinals. Had the Rockets won, Denver would have had home-court advantage in the next round, hosting Games 1 and 2 and putting the May 25 game in Houston.

As of Monday afternoon, the schedule on the Pepsi Center’s Web site listed WWE for 6:30 p.m. local time and Western Conference finals Game 4 at 7 p.m. Tickets for the wrestling event could still be purchased online.

McMahon said he couldn’t guess how much he would make from the show, but that canceling wasn’t easy because of how much is involved in moving his equipment, plus filling its obligated time slot on USA Network. Litigation is likely — but he plans to be putting on a card.

“When you do have a date, you plan everything around it,” he said, adding, “we may be holding an event in a parking lot somewhere.”

Don't forget to read this week's edition of "Tha Raw Report".

Tha Raw Report

Wow, Ric Flair's back and that is always a great thing. Well, it was a great thing. Ric Flair alone merits a return, but not as a pawn in a pseudo feud between Randy Orton and Bati-sta. Batista is horrible and he belongs in a feud with Chavo, or maybe they should bring back Eugene for him to feud with, but he doesn't belong near a main event.

Ric Flair is actually expected to wrestle in this run, and I am actually interested to see how they do this. By the way rumor has it that he's being brought back to help with ratings while H is out. I wonder what H thinks about that, seeing as how Ric's "too old."

Ric Flair had never said anything that made me want to vomit, but all that changed tonight. I understand what the writers tried to do, but in no way other than on paper did Batista "vroom" right past Randy Orton. I can't believe that was even written for him to say. That is a damn joke. It isn't even a funny one.

In the first segment of "Raw" I was tempted to just hit exit and delete and get that off my DVR. Legacy sauntered to the ring to take out Flair but Batista was going to come save the day, the only problem was that I could hear that uncoordinated fuck sneaking up through my TV. I honestly wonder if he can tie his shoes while standing up.

Yet another shitty part of all that was that John Cena came in to save the day. John Cena came in to save the day. I had to just re-type that to make sure it happened and it did. I'm tempted to take an ice pick and just jam it right into my retina. Maybe then I'd feel better about the situation.

I'm convinced that the following conversation took place in the writers room. "So who do you think the top action star is? Christian Bale?" "Fuck no, John Cena." "Daniel Craig?" "Fuck no, John Cena." "Hugh Jackman?" "Seriously dude, John Cena." "Chuck Norris?" "Hmmm, that's a tough one, but still John Cena." Do these people think he shits fucking gold?

May I just say, and irritate some of the critics while I'm at it, thank God for Santino Marella. The man can entertain. The man does entertain. His match with Chavo Guerrero was great, I loved the hulking up and the whole, "Wow did I do that?" part. It made me laugh thank God.

Then Chavo made the match of Santina vs. Vickie for the Ms. WrestleMania crown. Hmmm, wow Chavo isn't a GM and how can you defend something that you earn once a year? Vickie then went on to berate Chavo for not being a GM and for making the match. She's the GM so why not void that? Well that would just make sense, we can't go that route.

Vickie then won the Ms. WrestleMania crown. William Regal caused this. A few weeks ago William Regal looked like he was getting ready to feud with MVP for the US strap, but now he's going to feud with...the siblings Marella? Hell I don't know anymore, I give up.

Write opinions, what should have happened or just what you would have wanted to happen. Also if you give up too be sure to let me know, I'm not sure that I'm alone, and oh by the way we can unite because the truth is out there. I'll start, "My name is DJB and I feel helpless in the WWE Universe.

Tha Results:
*John Cena & Batista def. WWE Champion Randy Orton & The Legacy
*Vickie Guerrero def. Santina Marella to become the new Miss WrestleMania
*United States Champion MVP def. Matt Hardy
*Unified WWE Tag Team Champions Carlito & Primo def. The Brian Kendrick & Goldust
*Santino Marella def. Chavo Guerrero
*Kelly Kelly def. Mickie James, Brie Bella, Nikki Bella, Beth Phoenix, Rosa Mendes and Jillian to earn a Divas Championship Match

Thing Of Honor - Week 9

Another week of ROH.

The show starts off with the announcers discussing last weeks match between Danielson and Tyler Black. For some reason Ric Flair is going to pick who the number one contender is. Okay, let me start off by saying that I am now annoyed with Flair. I love Flair.

He was one of the most entertaining guys in the sport. But with his recent comments and the fact that he is on both ROH and WWE, I have a bad taste in my mouth. Maybe I think he’s a mole or something. I don’t know. I just don’t like seeing him on both shows.

The first match is Claudio Castagnoli vs. Brent Albright. The last time these two went at it Claudio cheated by holding the ropes. Let’s see how the very European Claudio gets out of this one. Brent comes out and tackles Claudio from the start. Claudio is trying to get away but Brent is all over him like a cheap ass suit. Claudio with some hard European uppercuts. I like the announcer playing heel now. He’s not overbearing about it and it doesn’t sound like he’s trying hard. Its coming off natural. Outside of the ring Brent is chopping the hell out of Claudio. Follows up with a stiff kick to the back. Eye rake on the ropes by Claudio.

You just don’t see that done anymore. Overhead belly to belly by Brent sending Claudio flying across the ring. Oops. Missile dropkick misses so Claudio follows up with a bicycle kick. The crowd wants to hate this guy but cant. Claudio gets the crowd to “Hey!!!” for him then tells them to shut up. Chop fest ended by a gut wrench suplex by Claudio. Brent kicked out to the floor and thrown into the barricade. In the ring a eye poke stops a European uppercut battle. Holy shit! A monkey flip by Brent sends Claudio to the floor outside of the ring!

A flying cross body takes Claudio down. I almost choked on my sunflower seeds. Brent goes to the top rope for another cross body for two. Crowbar by Brent but Claudio gets to the ropes. Hot shot stops Brent. Ricola Bomb reversed, blocked, Claudio off the second rope, catches Claudio for an Air Raid Crash for two. Half nelson suplex blocked, kick dodged, roll up by Claudio as he grabs the ropes. The ref sees and stops the count. A tilt a whirl by Brent into a Crowbar. Prince Nana and Dirty Ernie come out. Ernie nails Brent in the face with a show, Claudio with a low blow and a pin for the win. Claudio is about to nail Brent with a Con-Chair-To but Colt Cabana stops it. Claudio laughs as he heads to the back while Brent is left holding his nuts.

Backstage with El Generico and Kevin Steen. Steen has to calm Generico down before he starts his promo. They let us know that the American Wolves are going down. Dark City Fight Club is up next. Wonder who they’re gonna kill this week. Funny how the bigger a Black dude is the more soft spoken he is.

DCFC is taking on Sugarfoot and Grizzly Redwood. H, this is gonna be funny. Sugarfoot is in first and shoved down, no problem. Sugarfoot with elbows that do nothing. Tag to Grizzly while DCFC no sells everything. A flapjack shuts that noise down. Tilt-a-whirl cutter combo is broken up at two. Sugarfoot tags in and gets Pounced! Spilt legged power bomb neck breaker combo ends this one. Fuck, I like these guys even though I cant remember their individual names. These two need some real competition.

Necro Butcher and Delirious with Buzz Words. Jimmy Jacobs with Brodie Lee. They have their own Buzz Words. They show a promo for next weeks tag match with these four guys. Here comes Flair. Let’s see what he has to say.

Flair has someone come to the apron and hold the ropes for him. He says that some things never change and when he gets in the ring someone holds the ropes for him. These guys in the crowd are staring at Flair so hard you’d think they wanted to suck his dick. Some guys shouts that Flair should get a title shot and he screams “I should get it!” Flair brings out Jerry Lynn. Lynn’s theme song sounds like what you’d hear in Hell. Tyler Black comes out to the ring before Flair can announce the winner. And here comes Danielson! Austin Aries now comes on out.

What the hell is going on? Aries tells Flair that while Flair may be the best world champion ever he says that he is the greatest man that ever lived. Flair says that he is impressed with all the men in the ring with him. He said the same shit about Carlito, so, whatever. Flair is using a cue card. Jesus. A fatal four way is announced. That match is going to be awesome!

Kyle Durden is backstage with Kenny King and Rhett Titus. Tutus is a fool, I swear. King is talking about his millions and yachts. For some reason, uh, I don’t believe him. A suit jacket doesn’t make you rich. Sorry.

Jay Briscoe is up in a singles match next vs. Sami Callihan. Somebody is gonna bleed! I am becoming a huge mark for Callihan. His injured ass brother, Mark, comes to the ring with him. “man up!’ chants by the crowd. They are going nuts for this already. Hard shoulder tackle by Jay followed by a stiff ass club to the back and chop. Foot stomp on Callihan. Headbutt by Sami and a chop. Downward spiral by Jay into the turnbuckle. Sliding clothesline by Sami for two. Forearm fest won by Jay until an eye rake stops it. Big boot by Jay followed by a clothesline. Jay Driller kills Callihan for the three! Durden comes to the ring for a quick interview. Mark says that he’ll be back in the ring in no time. Jay says that he has only two words for Durden. The crowd chants “Man up!” Next up is the main event.

Titus and King vs. Steen and El Generico. King comes out wearing a luchador mask. Titus tries to give a chick in the crowd a hotel room key. She doesn’t take it and her man gives Titus the finger. “Ole, ole, ole, ole!” He comes the tag team champs. Titus tries to shut the crowd up.

This is the first handshakes of the night. The thrust is a must! Generico in with Titus. Shoulder tackle on Generico. Arm drags by Generico followed by a ten punch in the corner followed by a running calf kick. Steen tagged in and slams Titus before piggy backing Generico onto Titus for two. Titus gets chopped hard as shit! Titus boots Steen and tags in King. King rushes in only to get slammed. Generico in with King. Droptoe hold by Generico followed by a front flip leg drop by Steen. Kick to the back at the ropes by Titus followed by a diving rope choke by King. Titus tagged in. I like Titus. Even though he has a cheesy ass gimmick he pulls it off well. If only he would stop gyrating his crotch. Inverted atomic drop followed by a clothesline by King for two. Titus choking Generico with the ring ropes.

Generico tries to chop his way free but cant. A sweet dropkick by Titus onto Generico for two. Titus thrusts his dick in Generico’s face. Generico with a cross body to take Titus down. King and Steen both tagged in. Steen’s on fire! Flapjack power bomb by Steen into a Sharpshooter that King stops. Ole kick followed by a Swanton by Steen for two! Generico tagged in. Steen tossed outside the ring. Titus atomic dropped from the top rope. Yakuza kicked stopped by King. Superplex stopped but King follows with a high ass kick to the face. Sideslam followed by a splash that is broken at two by Steen.

Steen in with King who gets DDT’s to Hell. Titus on the top rope rubbing his dick in Steen’s face. Ugh. Titus in a tree of woe. Cannonball by Steen onto King. A fucking flipping leg drop by Generico all the way across the ring!!! HOLY SHIT!!! Cradle driver followed by a Brainbuster for the win by the champs.

The American Wolves rush into the ring with chairs. Steen caught in a Sharpshooter. A table is brought in. Generico breaks up the Sharpshooter but gets nailed. A top rope bulldog through the table for Generico! Refs trying to come out. The American Wolves grab the belts and parade around the ring. They continue stomping the champs. Generico is helped out of the ring and Steen is left crumpled as we end this weeks show. Rockets!

AND NOW, Terminator: Salvation The Video Game presents WWE Judgment Day. Cue the pyros and we're broadcasting LIVE from Chicago. J.R. claims a sellout crowd of 14,822 are in attendance tonight.

* CM Punk v. Umaga

No better way to pop the Chicago crowd than to have their hometown hero come down to the ring first The Pepsi signs are on display all around the build. Todd Grisham and good ol' J.R. will be doing the commentary for this match. Punk poses in the corner with his Money in the Bank briefcase.

We get highlights of his win over Edge three weeks ago, where before he could cash in the briefcase he was attacked by Umaga. Shortly afterward Umaga comes out to his new stereotypical jungle music theme song courtesy of Jim Johnston. Ross says he has no idea why Umaga has so much rage for Punk. I have an idea - Umaga wants to be a champion and feels like he hasn't gotten his shot while Punk has had several.

The bell rings and we're underway! Punk works kicks early. He tries a springboard crossbody and is thrown down with authority to a chorus of boos. A loud CM Punk chant breaks out for just a second as Umaga beats him down in the corner. I'll make a prediction right now - Punk is going to be selling Umaga's offense for at least the next five minutes. Actually it turns out to be about seven, until Punk pulls down the ropes and causing a charging Umaga to tumble out. Umaga gets up and Punk gives him a crossbody to the floor outside.

A couple minutes after that Punk hits him with a bulldog in the ring and follows up for a near fall. Flying off the ropes he crashes into Umaga and gets another 2 and 9/10ths. Umaga gets Punk down and goes for the Samoan Spike. Punk ducks it and hits him with three head kicks, nearly gets him up for the Go 2 Sleep, but Punk can't pick him up and eats a head kick of his own, then a Samoan Spike for the three count. WINNER: UMAGA.

Vickie and Chavo are backstage. The children watching at the bar tonight with their parents boo loudly and I can't hear what she says to Chavito. Big Show gets up from his seat across the room to make his presence known on camera. Show says he understands its business tonight, not personal.

Vickie says if Cena winds up down and out, SOMEBODY else will take her place. Edge comes in. He and Show exchange dirty looks. Edge says I need to talk to MY WIFE and Show steps out of the way. We go to the ECW commentary team of Josh Mathews and Matt Striker, who are showing highlights from Christian's title win at Backlash.

* Christian Cage {C} v. Jack Swagger (ECW World Championship)

Swagger comes out first to a light chorus of boos, whereas Cage gets a very nice pop in Chicago and at DJ's Dugout for his arrival. Tony Chimel gives the big match introduction for each man, and Christian gets another pop after his announcement. He holds up the title belt and smiles like only he can, then hands it off to the ref to show what's at stake. The bell rings and we're underway!

Swagger throws Christian out of the ring in the early going, gives chase on the outside, then hits him with a boot to the gut on the inside. Swagger tries to press slam him but Christian escapes and nearly hits the Killswitch, then signals to Swagger it was THAT close. From there Swagger decides to change strategy and ground Christian to the mat, going back to his amateur wrestling background.

Christian escapes, sends Swagger outside, then jumps out to wipe him out on the floor. WWE has a little trouble with the replay but we finally see Christian's big leap from the corner ropes. When we come back to live action they're both out on the floor and Swagger picks up Christian to throw him ribs first into a steel ringpost. He stands on his ribs to make it worse then throws him back in for a near fall. Swagger wraps his legs around Christian, trying to drive the air out of his body, but Christian reverses and forces Swagger to make a rope break.

He goes back to stomping on Christian's ribs. The fight turns into a slobberknocker for a second until Swagger hits a running knee to the gut and goes for another near fall. Christian gets a knee up when Swagger tries to go top rope. Christian gets up first on the double countout, punches Swagger in the face, but Swagger picks him up and drives him into the turnbuckle. He doesn't let go of Christian and that's a mistake as Christian reverses bulldogs his head to the mat for a near fall.

Christian goes top rope for a diving headbutt but Swagger gets out of the way. Swagger goes for the gutwrench poweromb but Christian escapes. Christian runs from Swagger and slides out, he tries to go top rope, but Swagger catches up and throws him off halfway across the ring for a near fall. Christian is picked up electric chair style but fights free, does a sunset flip off the ropes, but Swagger tries to cradle him for a near fall. Christian avoids a tornado DDT and hits a modified form of it for a near fall. Swagger tries to schoolboy Christian and gets 2.9.

Christian goes for the killswitch and gets blocked into a suplex. Christian gets kicked in the gut and Swagger goes for the gutwrench but Captain Charisma reverses and grabs a handful of tights for the pin, which gets a huge pop from all the kids at the bar! WINNER AND STILL ECW CHAMPION: CHRISTIAN CAGE. The replay shows that Swagger tried to get a handful of tights first, so once again, Christian cheated only as much as his opponent did, but did it BETTER than he did.

Edge leaves Vickie's office and Chavo is waiting to ask him what they discussed. Edge says its none of your damn business. Chavo says it is because she's family, Edge says its not because that's his wife.

Chavo gets all smug and says oh last I heard you two were estranged, and Edge one-ups him by saying last I heard some crossdressing idiot was calling your aunt a pig and you didn't do anything about it SO YOU'RE NOT MUCH OF A MAN NOW ARE YOU. Chavo has no response, he just fumes, and Edge says I've got a world title to go defend.

* Shelton Benjamin (w/ Charlie Haas) v. John Morrison

Morrison has no backup, even though he and The Miz are still doing The Dirt Sheet together. Go figure. Benjamin suplexes him right on his neck to start the match. I don't want to condone this one to popcorn break status, but since there's no diva contest if you need to go to the bathroom now might be the time. Morrison tries to go off the top rope with a somersault to the floor and nearly misses Benjamin altogether by LANDING ON HIS FEET. That's a new one.

Benjamin wisely acts like they crashed into each other and falls down anyway. Haas interferes on his next top rope move and Benjamin kicks him hard to the floor. From here it's Benjamin in control, with Morrison selling his offense for a while. Shoutout to the 300+ who have already read this recap and we're not even an hour into the show yet. I suspect that has a lot to do with the fact so few people are ordering this but whatever the reason you're here thank you for joining us at AngryMarks.com.

Morrison takes a knee to the face and Benjamin keeps on grinding, even as he gets warned by the ref for his bad behavior. Chinlock is applied and Morrison sinks slowly to the ground, with Haas cheering his WGTT partner on. Morrison tries to charge him in the corner and Benjamin gets an elbow in his face, but a dropkick fares much better. Spinning legsweep by Morrison for a near fall. Benjamin hits an inverted backbreaker to ground John again for a two count.

Morrison hits a running knee for a near fall and picks Benjamin up. Morrison tries to head scissor his opponent but Benjamin throws him into the ropes in a spot that looked both sloppy and dangerous. Drop toehold by John into the second turnbuckle. Morrison hits a flying kick after Hass interference backfires and then his Starship Pain (split legged corkscrew moonsault) for three. WINNER: JOHN MORRISON. WrestleMania 25 DVD video package follows.

* Mike 'The Miz' Mizanin

I wasn't aware that The Miz was on the card tonight, so this must be another one of his grandstand challenges. Miz poses to get boos and holds up the mic with his left hand. "I want to recognize the winner of the previous match, Marty Jannety.. I mean John Morrison. This won't be the first time I followed Morrison and topped him.

So lets cut to the chase. I know Cena won't answer one of my challenges tonight. I mean, I'm 3-0, and he has this match with the Big Show tonight." (WHAT? WHAT?) "What what what? You people sound like a bunch of ducks, QUACK QUACK QUACK, shut up!" (YOU SUCK! YOU SUCK!) "I haven't heard that one before. Since I can't directly face John Cena tonight, I'm going to challenge someone that can be a substitute for Cena.

I mean Cena is overrated, he's disappointing, yet you all still like him. He's like this lovable loser - MUCH LIKE THE CHICAGO CUBS." Miz is turning the heat meter up to ten. "Speaking of the Cubs look who we have in the audience tonight - someone very Cena-like - the all-star Cubs outfielder Alfonso Soriano! You know Alfonso after your homeruns you're always doing this." (He does the Cena hand wave.) "It's not you can't see me, it's you can't see a World Series ring as long as you play for the Cubs!

That was cheap, that was cheap I know. I want to apologize, I want to apologize to anybody born before 1948 who actually witnessed a Cubs title. As for you Alfonso if you have a problem with something I said you can do one of two things - one is win a World Series and we all know that's not going to happen, or two you can serve as a Cena surrogate and get in here because YOU CAN'T SEE ME. C'mon, step up!" Miz takes a phone call.

"That was Lou Pinella, he says he'd rather you get your yearly injury on the field than off." Man, Miz is on fire tonight! "Since this isn't going to happen, I guess this is a forfeiture, which means I've done something nobody in the Cubs has done in a hundred years of World Series, and that's win four times. Be jealous Cubs fans! Because I am The Miz, and I am..."

SANTINO'S MUSIC INTERRUPTS. Santino: "I am sorry Fizz. (That's Miz.) Don't get hot with me! I'm not gonna let you keep talking like that no mores! I heard you talk about Alfonso Soriano, and if I'm not mistake, that's a fellow Italian. After the show, we can go out for a little bit of pasta."

Miz complains he's using up his time. "Well I'm here because I notice many WWE superstars are resembling the animal kingdom. For instance Vickie Guerrero, she looks like a pig! And Vladimir Kozlov, he looks like Sam - the American Eagle." Santino throws up a video on the Titantron to prove it. Miz wants to know what he looks like. "That's an easy one Fizz, you're a jackass!" Miz: "That's enough you momma mia pooty fruity.

I have no problem beating you do." Santino: "I hope you brought your metal detector." Miz: "Why?" Santino: "Because I brought some guns and I'm not scared to use them!" Santino poses and kisses his biceps, Miz cheapshots him, and the two start rolling around on the ground punching each other. BOOO each time Miz gets on top, YAYYY any time Santino gets on top.

Finally Miz knocks him down and out, poses like he won something, and his music plays. Chavo runs down to the ring and starts yelling at the prone Santino, then gets a smug look on his face. Chavo hits the ropes and nails him with a frogsplash. "How do you feel now Santino!" Chavo gets a chorus of boos from the crowd. He leaves all cocksure of himself and his music plays. My guess is they're setting up a tag match between Santino and a partner of his choice against Miz and Chavito.

After a video package, Chris Jericho is backstage for an interview. "Conspiracy, many different things, I don't feel that there is I know it. I'm chastized by an inept general manager and reviled by a bunch of parasitic tapeworms. It's an attack on Chris Jericho. I am the most talented performer of my generation but none of these hypocrites have faith in me.

They have faith in Rey Mysterio, a man who gets by on the favoritism of a biased general manager. Oh yeah 6-1-9, 6-1-9." (The crowd obliges with a chant.) "You can scream it all you want but that's as close as you'll get to seeing it. I guarantee there will be a new IC Champion tonight, Chris Jericho, so deal with it."

* Rey Mysterio {C} v. Chris Jericho (Intercontinental Title Match)

Mysterio comes out first and all the kids here are going nuts - it's the loudest they've been all night - so as if there was any doubt as to who his biggest fanbase is DJ's Dugout is trying to prove there should be NONE. Jim Ross reminds us it only took him 21 seconds to beat JBL at WrestleMania 25, and seconds later Jericho comes out to a chorus of boos. We don't get the big match introductions for this one, but I shouldn't be surprised by that.

The bell rings and we're underway! Rey trips Jericho up and goes for the 6-1-9 right away but Y2J rolls out to the floor to avoid it and slowly but surely walks back up the steps into the ring. Jericho dominates for the next minute or two and throws Rey out to the floor, but Rey rolls to his feet on the ramp like hey, whatever dude. Jericho responds by whipping him into the barricade at ringside.

Rey is thrown back in but he gets a kick to the guts of Jericho as he comes back through the ropes, then does a legdrop as he's tied up in the ropes from off the top for a near fall. Rey tries to get back to his feet and go up the turnbuckle, Jericho shoves him off, then kicks him out to the floor as he slowly stands on the apron. Jericho takes advantage of him on the floor then throws him back in for a near fall.

Rey knocks Jericho down for another 6-1-9, the children start screaming with joy, but Jericho stands up and gives him a shoulder toss before he can even get to the ropes or as Ross puts it "he disconnected the call." Jericho drapes Mysterio through the ropes and catapults him into them neck first for another near fall. Jericho sets him up on the ropes to beat on him, Mysterio knocks him off, then leaps off to start his offense rolling and finishes with a crossbody for two. Mysterio drills Jericho in the head with a kick for another near fall.

Y2J whips him to the orner, Rey gets an elbow up, Jericho picks him up, Rey goes for a sunset flip, Jericho goes for the walls, counter and counter until Jericho hits a backbreaker for 2. Jericho starts pounding on Rey in the corner as the ref gives him a warning, and the fans chant 6-1-9. Rey trips him into the ropes but for the third or fourth time Jericho gets out of the way before he can connect, sets up Rey for the walls, and gets flipped out of if by Rey into the ropes again.

Rey goes for the 6-1-9 one more time but Jericho catches him mid spin through the ropes and puts him RIGHT into the Walls of Jericho. The ref asks if he gives up and Rey refuses. Jericho screams and pulls for all he's worth but Rey crawls for the ropes, Jericho drags him back to the center, but in doing so gives Mysterio the leverage to escape and cradle him for a near fall. GREAT MATCH. Mysterio is whipped into the corner but drop toe holds Jericho into the turnbuckle, 6-1-9 around the turnbuckle, and follows up with the springboard flying dive and gets the cover for three!

WINNER AND STILL INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPION: REY MYSTERIO. I don't know about in Chicago, but here at DJ's Dugout that was the loudest pop of the night by far. Even the adults started a SIX-ONE-NINE chant after his big win. Orton v. Batista is next!

* Randy Orton {C} v. Dave Batista (WWE Championship Match)

Orton is out first, and Batista is out second. It's 9:32 EST as Batista arrives at ringside. 682 hits so far tonight, and thank you all for reading. Be sure to check out the AngryMarks Podcast Network after the show if you're a first time reader. Lilian Garcia does the big match introductions.

Batista is all power moves and near falls early. Batista winds up on the apron and Orton dropkicks him to the floor. Orton goes to work outside and throws Big Dave back in for a near fall. Orton strikes a pose over the prone Batista to whip up the crowd. Eventually Orton knocks Batista down and goes for the soocer kick of doom but Batista gets up and spears him in mid-air before he can get there and BOTH men are down.

When they both get back up it's a slobberknocker of punches in the ring before Batista throws him into the corner and hits shoulders to the gut. Batista scroops him up and slams him down for 2.5. Batista eventually gets the upper hand and goes for the Demon Bomb, and while I was distracted for a moment Orton got DQ'd for slapping the ref after a failed RKO and all of Legacy ran out.

They start to beat up Dave Batista, WOOOOO Ric Flair's music hits and he runs down to the ring to make the save. The dynamic duo from Evolution beat them up and send them packing! Legacy flees as Flair and Batista celebrate in the ring. Video package of Cena being thrown into the spotlight follows so Big Show v. Cena must be next.

* John Cena v. The Big Show

There's at least three minutes of stalling to start this match as Cena and Show circle each other looking to get into range. Eventually it breaks down into Show clubbing Cena as hard as he can and Cena selling like he's hurt from going through the spotlight all over again. Cena momentarily escapes when Show picks him up and throws punches, but Show catches him for a side slam and a near fall. Some of the people at the bar are chanting BOR-ING and I can hardly blame them.

When the action spills out to the floor Big Show hoists Cena up and slams him into the steel post. I think I saw this same spot in a match earlier. In fact I'm sure I did, to progress an injury angle with the ribs being hurt. Cena gets his second wind and tries to charge Big Show, and he just casually tosses him aside when one hand when he comes running. Next Show hits him with one of those "fryin' pan hands" chops. Cena gets the boots up when Show charges the corner, tries to jump off the ropes, but Show puts him in a bear hug. YES, A BEAR HUG SPOT.

Earlier Bahana was asking in the AngryMarks Chatroom how many beers I needed to get through the Batista match. If I was going to drink during a match, this would've been the one. Cena finally gets a comeback off a diving chop block, eventually leading to Show being out on the mat to eat a You Can't See Me patented Five Knuckle Shuffle.

Cena tries to go to the STFU but Show escapes. Show comes off the ropes with 500 pounds of weight and Cena sells like he was crushed. Show goes up the ropes for a second splash in the opposite corner but Cena rolls out of the way and goes for the STFU while Show is on his knees. Show kicks him off through the ropes to the floor. Cena spears him on the apron, kicks him in the head, and does a flying leg drop. Try as he might though he can't get Show into that STFU.

Big Show puts a boot to his gut and picks him up for a powerbomb but Cena ends up falling forward face first instead. Show shakes off the cobwebs but he's already up to his knees as Cena is face down in the canvas, and eventually he sticks a big paw up and balls it into a fist. Show charges at him with the punch, Cena catches him and herks him up for the Attitude Adjustor, slams him down and gets the three count! WINNER: JOHN CENA. As if anyone was surprised by that?

* Edge {C} v. Jeff Hardy (World Heavyweight Championship Match)

Edge out first, Hardy second. Big match introductions for both men, opposite order. Edge kisses the title, although he's definitely hoping he's not kissing it goodbye. Edge is getting the better of the match early, stretching out Jeff every chance he gets, but Jeff manages to fight out and go for a Twist of Fate that Edge cuts off by slamming Jeff's head to the mat.

Jeff kicks out after two. Edge punches Jeff in the back of the head, whips him off the ropes, but Jeff ducks a clothesline and hits a crossbody for two. It's back and forth for the rest of the match, with Jeff gradually getting closer and closer to getting Edge down for three. Jeff goes to the top rope and Edge throws him off with a superplex that nearly finishes it. Jeff recovers and hits Edge with a Whisper in the Wind off the ropes for a near fall.

Jeff goes for the Swanton but Edge gets out of the way. Edge goes for a spear and Jeff gets out of the way! Who's going to get the big move at the end? It's the Rated Rrrrrrrr, Superstarrrrr who finally pulls it off with a top rope impaler DDT, and Edge gets the last fall for a three count. WINNER AND STILL WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION: EDGE.

Well that's all she wrote for Judgment Day. No titles exchanged hands, and I honestly didn't expect any to. Thanks for reading our live recap, thanks to all the fine people at DJ's Dugout, including the kitchen staff for cooking up a nice juicy cheeseburger with fries that was only $4.99 (I guess that's the new Sunday night "economy sucks" special) and our server for constantly refilling my Diet Coke.

It may have been a meaningless PPV in the grand scheme of things but at least it wasn't a BAD PPV. I enjoyed every match and all of the segments made sense, so that's a very cautious "good if you didn't spend $40 to see this" two thumbs up from me. G'night everyone!
