Nickolye's SmackDown! Recap

"Ladies and gentlemen, it is with great regret that I inform you that over the Memorial Day weekend, the Undertaker was found by his brother Kane in a vegetative state. There is an ongoing investigation to find who is behind this brutal and heinous attack." That is an announcement by the SmackDown General Manager Teddy Long. The opening credits roll and we start SmackDown off with druids carrying a casket down to the ring and then suddenly - BOOM. Here comes the Big Red Machine, Kane. There a eulogy set-up in the ring.

Kane: "Open the coffin." The druids open the coffin up and it's empty inside. "In all likelihood, the most feared respected force in the WWE, the Undertaker - my brother - will no longer walk amongst us. Gone are the endless nights when the Undertaker would strike fear into the hearts of those in his presence, by an act of cowardice. Gone is the specter that was beloved and admired by millions of creatures around the world. Gone from the WWE is its most iconic figure. And gone forever are the bonds of brotherhood. My brother will rise from the dead no more. Gone is the Undertaker! But soon enough, those responsible for this atrocity will too be gone. They will be committed to the depths of Hell! To a torturous existence that they cannot fathom. I will personally prosecute and persocute anyone who had anything to do with this tragedy. THERE WILL BE VENGEACE! Cold, cutting, cruel. There will be vengeace never before imagined. Swift, decicive and terrible. YES, THERE WILL BE VENGEANCE!!" Kane throws everything around and poses the way the Undertaker would, then crawls to the casket crying and sobbing "I should've been there for you!" Commercial break.

* Jack Swagger {World Champ} vs. Montel Vontavious Porter [non-title match]

Swagger comes out wearing his Oklahoma Sooners jersey to rile up the Dallas, Texas crowd. The bell rings and here we go. Swagger gets a double leg takedown and starts with amateur wrestling moves to keep MVP down. A small "Let's go Swagger" chant starts and gets booed. MVP slaps Swagger and he leaves the ring. He gets back in and MVP hits a flying forearm for a 1-count. MVP puts the champ in a side headlock and Swagger brings him to a corner to lay in the knees to the midsection. MVP avoids an attack but Swagger takes him down again, then MVP switches positions to lay in some shots. Swagger staggers up but MVP boots him right in the face! Swagger falls to the floor and we go to commercials.

We come back from break and MVP gets a 2-count. During the break he hit a plancha to Swagger outside the ring. Porter is in control for a while until Swagger kicks him then shoves him into the ringpost - not once, but twice. Porter falls to the floor the second time and he makes it back into the ring at the referee's count of 9. Swagger is all over him by working on the left arm, hyperextending the shoulder, which is the same shoulder he shoved into the post. Swagger pins him for 2 as the fans start a chant for him. MVP is in trouble as he is put back in the arm submission and the fans cheer for HIM now. MVP tries for a comeback but Swagger counters him with a powerslam for 2.999. Swagger hits the corner splash and gets another near fall, so he goes back to the armbar submission. MVP struggles up but the champion brings him back down. He gets back up again and breaks the hold to kick Swagger in the skull!

Both men stagger up and MVP gets the upper hand. He smashes Swagger's face on his knee, Swagger stands up but MVP tosses him with a belly-to-belly throw and hits the BALLIN' elbow drop. MVP hits a Fisherman's Suplex for 2! Swagger comes back with a jawbreaker and a belly-belly suplex for a near-fall. Swagger goes for the corner splash again but MVP trips him off the ropes. He goes for another kick but Swagger moves out of the way and rolls him up for 3. WINNER: Jack Swagger. Curt Hawkins and Vance Archer run in the ring to attack MVP. Archer hits the reverse DDT and Hawkins finishes him off with a top-rope elbow drop.

Vickie Guerrero shows up in Teddy Long's office and tells him to focus back to the show. She reminds him Undertaker's place in the Fatal 4 Way title match needs to be filled. She suggests Dolph Ziggler and Long gets an idea after she utters the word "roster." Long announces every man on the roster will be in a battle royal to determine who will be in the title match at the PPV. Breaktime.

We come back to the show with a video recap of the NXT finale. I'm really glad Wade Barrett was the rookie who won. He can talk on the mic, he can wrestle, and he has charisma enough to be a good heel. CM Punk is backstage putting on his mask when Kane bursts into his locker room to confront him. Punk is immediately frightened as Kane grabs him to interrogate him, and he denies having anything to do with the Undertaker, even extending Kane a welcome into his Straight Edge Society. Kane shoves him away and we get more commercials. We come back and the WWE "Smack of the Night" is from last week when Matt Hardy was "suspended" thanks to Drew McIntyre.

* Intercontinental Championship: Drew McIntyre vs. Kofi Kingston {C}

McIntyre is screaming for Kofi to come out so he can "take back what's his." The match begins and McIntyre slams him down. Kofi fights back with punches but Drew hits him with a headbutt. Kingston is being manhandled but bounces off the ropes to dropkick him. He punches him in a corner as Matt Striker complains about it. The referee tries to separate them and McIntyre delivers a back suplex for 2. Suddenly Matt Hardy comes down the aisle in the crowd with a ticket! Kingston is tossed to the floor and McIntyre notices his enemy. He stares at him as Hardy takes a seat in the front row as we go to a commercial break.

Kofi ducks a clothesline but doesn't avoid a tilt-a-whirl gutbuster when we come back from break. We're reminded that Matt Hardy is sitting front row. McIntyre chokes Kofi on the ropes and is all over him. He heads outside the ring to punch him in the head. Kingston counters him knocking into the announce table and Hardy is applauding him, but McIntyre shoves him into the steel steps and gives him a snap suplex on the floor. He gets a two-count back in the ring then applies a surfboard stretch. Kingston flips out and goes on offense. McIntyre knees him in the gut and gets a couple 2-count covers. McIntyre clotheslines him in a corner, then pulls him out for another. Kingston makes a comeback with a clothesline of his own.

Kofi fires back with chops and a crucifix pin for 2. He attacks McIntyre in a corner, climbs to the top and hits a high crossbody for a near-fall. McIntyre snaps the arm and drops Kofi's head on his knee for 2. Kofi lands on his feet off a suplex attempt, clotheslines him on the back of the head and hits the Boom Drop! He sets up for Trouble in Paradise but McIntyre heads out of the ring and he also misses the plancha. McIntyre randomly BACKHANDS Hardy and throws Kofi back into the ring. Hardy has to be held back by security, McIntyre is distracted by Hardy and he turns around into the SOS by Kofi! WINNER and STILL Intercontinental Champion: Kofi Kingston.

Hardy breaks through security and runs into the ring to give McIntyre a Twist of Fate! He runs away before the security can catch him and we see replays of the ending. Backstage, Kane and Rey Mysterio are talking until Kane suggest he had somethign to do with Taker. Rey says, "I had nothing to do with the Undertaker." Maybe not kayfabe Rey, but we all know you broke Undertaker's orbital bone in a botched senton last week. Mysterio backs off and we go to a break.

We come back and recap the Swagger vs. MVP match earlier. Swagger is backstage to talk about people doubting his accolades. He mentions he started all four years of his college with the Oklahoma Sooners and they beat the Dallas Longhorns. He then sings (badly) the fight song for "Boomer Sooner" - until suddenly Kane shows up behind him.

* Rosa Mendes vs. Kelly Kelly

Oh boy - I'm going to need to maintain my sanity after this match. Kelly jumps over Rosa from a corner and hits a neckbreaker for 2. LayCool show up and Kelly is distracted so Rosa takes advantage. She hangs her on the ropes and drapes her leg over her to choke her. Rosa hits a suplex and floats over for 2. Rosa chokes her with her legs but then Kelly comes back with a Thesz Press. Kelly hits a crossbody for 2, then counters a neckbreaker with her K2 facebuster. WINNER: Kelly Kelly. LayCool drop their jaws at Kelly's win. Breaktime.

We get a promo for WWE Classics on Demand about Junkyard Dog when we come back to the show. Big Show is playing cards with Hornswoggle in a locker room. The little guy runs away when Kane bursts into the room. Kane reminds him that Taker has "always had his number" and Show informs him that he did nothing to Undertaker. He says if Kane continues to think it was him then "that would be a huge mistake." Kane kicks the card table before he leaves. Todd Grisham and Matt Striker run down the title matches for WWE Fatal 4 Way then take us back to events earlier when Kane gave his speech on the Undertaker. Afterwards, Rey Mysterio heads out to the ring as we get ready for the Battle Royal to determine who will be in the last spot in the heavyweight title match. Dolph Ziggler is the next man out before we go to a commercial break.

* Over-the-Top-Rope Battle Royal: Rey Mysterio, Dolph Ziggler, JTG, MVP, Finlay, Trent Baretta, Caylen Croft, Chavo Guerrero, Luke Gallows, Vance Archer, Curt Hawkins, Chris Masters, Christian, Drew McIntyre, Kofi Kingston, Kane

Holy crap, Finlay is in the ring! The last four names head out to the ring on TV. The bell rings and all hell breaks loose. Everybody attacks everybody, except Kane. Superstars are staying away from him and his rage. Gallows has Christian teetering on the ropes. Mysterio is randomly out of the ring attacking CM Punk who is ringside with Serena; Gallows soon follows. He slides back into the ring (as Grisham notes Mysterio did not go over the tope rope) while Punk and Serena head back up the ramp and we go to another commercial break.

We come back and the ring is still full. Everybody is on full attack, including Gallows. CAYLEN CROFT, CHRIS MASTERS and TRENT BARETTA are eliminated. Soon after JTG is eliminated. Gallows and Kane fight for a while. KOFI KINGSTON and DREW McINTYRE are eliminated. Mysterio is on the verge but as always still hangs on. MVP is attacking Gallows, and Ziggler has Finlay in a sleeper hold. DOLPH ZIGGLER is eliminated by Christian, then CHRISTIAN is eliminated by Finlay! Commercial break.

Back for the rest of the show now, no more breaks! Apparently no eliminations were during the break, so that's good in a way. Although he ducks a 619, CHAVO GUERRERO is eliminated by Mysterio. Finlay tries to dump Rey to the floor but he hangs on. MVP goes after Hawkins and Archer for earlier's attack. VANCE ARCHER is eliminated by MVP who is eliminated by FINLAY who is eliminated - one after another in that order finalized by Kane. CURT HAWKINS is eliminated by Rey Mysterio! The final three are Kane, Mysterio and Gallows. The mystery man attacks Kane from behind and Gallows tries to capitalize. Kane hangs onto the ropes, tosses (and by tosses I mean flips) the mystery man off the apron to the floor, gets back in the ring and pushes Gallows right over the top rope. LUKE GALLOWS is eliminated!

Mysterio goes for a 619 but Kane clotheslines him. Kane picks him up but Rey slips out, but Kane counters him by hanging him on the ropes. Kane almost eliminated him but Rey hits a springboard senton. Kane boots him in the face, Rey boots him and hits a tilt-a-whirl DDT. He dropkicks him and goes for the 619! Kane catches Rey springboarding into the ring, but Rey counters the chokeslam with the headscissors and Kane falls over the top rope! KANE is eliminated!

WINNER and Qualifying for Fatal 4 Way: Rey Mysterio.

That's all for SmackDown; good night everybody!
