This is the final PPV of the year for TNA and there were plenty of action packed matches for the fans. Final Resolution was a PPV to answer questions and end feuds and perhaps start new ones. Here’s what went down.
TNA Tag Team Championship Match - British Invasion vs. Motor City Machine Guns
The MCMGs put up a good fight but the Brits retained as I knew they would to carry the belts into the new year.
BI win by hitting a Doomsday European uppercut allowing Magnus to pin Shelley. As long as Team 3D doesn’t get these straps, I’m cool.
TNA Knockouts Championship – ODB vs. Tara
What I tell ya folks? Tara starts her reign as Knockout Queen by getting a quick win over the Ol' Dirty Skank after the Skank fails on a TKO. Quick match and quick win for Tara the NEW TNA Knockouts Champion.
Feast or Fired Match: Jay Lethal, Consequences Creed, Cody Deaner, James Storm, Robert Roode, Eric Young, Sheik Bashir, Kiyoshi, Rob Terry, Kevin Nash and Samoa Joe
Total chaos here! I was very surprised at the results. I thought for sure Deaner was on his way out. Boy did the WE split when they got in this match, taking on each other like they weren’t crew. This one was a pure brawl.
Nash, Joe, Brashir and Big Rob Terry got the cases. Nash gets a TNA Tag Team Title shot, Joe gets a TNA Championship shot, Big Rob gets an TNA X Division title shot and Sheik Brashir gets FIRED!
Brashir flipped out but of course. Will Nash take his title shot with Young by his side? How about Steiner?
Team 3D, Jesse Neal and Rhino vs. Hernandez, Pope Dinero, Matt Morgan and Suicide
Rhino gets eliminated first followed by Hernandez who gets eliminated by DQ. Hernandez basically got screwed. Suicide gets eliminated after that by pinfall. Team 3D takes out the Pope next and Matt Morgan is left alone. Team 3D has the 2 on 1 advantage but Morgan takes out Devon first by pinfall followed by pinning the Tomato Head Brother Ray and Matt Morgan delivers for his team. Maybe now Morgan can get back to business. I woulda preferred to see Matt take on AJ Styles.
Last Man Standing Match: Bobby Lashley vs Scott Steiner
Lashley out lasts Scotty when Krystal throws Bobby the pipe Steiner came to the ring with. I thought Steiner was gonna take it and not just because I’m not a fan of Lashley. The only way Bobby could beat the Big Bad Botty Daddy was to knock him out with a lead pipe. Duly noted.
Raven and Dr. Stevie vs. Abyss and Mick Foley
It’s so classic seeing Foley in the ring with Abyss as his partner. The match was an all out war with Foley and Abyss exacting revenge on Raven and Dr. Stevie any way they could. This one ends with Abyss hitting the Black Hole on Raven to end it. Foley was definitely out for revenge in this match.
Three Degrees of Pain Matches: Kurt Angle vs. Desmond Wolfe
Angle finally gets some revenge over the newcomer Wolfe in this 3 Degrees of Pain match. Wolfe has been getting the best of Kurt lately and we all know how much Angle likes that. Desmond takes the first match and Angle grabs the last two. Angle gets Wolfe in the Ankle Lock to get the final call and when Desmond taps it doesn’t matter. Kurt keeps the hold locked on looking like he wanted to break off Wolfe’s foot. Great match even though I’m getting tired of Angle and his cry baby shit.
TNA World Heavyweight Title Match: Daniels vs. AJ Styles
I thanked the wrestling gods for the outcome of this one. I’m not a Daniels fan as I have stated plenty of times. It was an entertaining match and Daniels tried his best and gave AJ everything he had but couldn’t put the kid away no matter what he tried. AJ gets Daniels in the end after countering off Daniels attempt at a Hurricanrana. AJ hit him with a top rope Styles clash and gets the pin. To my approval most definitely.
The PPV had the usual storyline video packages leading up to each match, some interviews and over all I’d say I was satisfied with the action. Good way to end 2009 in TNA Wrestling. A lot of questions answered and a lot of expectations for the new year. 2010 is almost here and the Hulkster cometh….
Rumor has it that Spike is prepared to move TNA to Monday Nights permanently if the ratings are good on January 4, 2010.
Don’t say I didn’t tell ya first folks. So tune in and let’s get this party started. Speaking of rumours, rumour has it the story line for Hogan’s entry to TNA will be for him to team up with Kurt Angle to take on the team of Mick Foley and Jeff Jarrett. I think they may go bigger. There is also talk of Scott Hall returning to TNA. Hopefully Scott can stay on the wagon and hold it down. I’d love to see The Outsiders back at it again.
Until next year, enjoy the 4 Hour iMPACT! this Thursday and Happy Holidays from all of us at Tha O Show!
