RIP Misawa

One of the greatest in-ring performers of all time, Mitsuharu Misawa was declared dead on Saturday at a hospital in Hiroshima.

Misawa apparently had a heart attack after taking a german suplex in a tag match. Misawa didn't get up after the spot, and just laid motionless in the ring. Medical staff performed CPR as the crowd watched in stunned silence.

The legend was strapped to a back board and taken out of the ring and transported to a hospital where he was declared dead at 10:10 PM. It is believed at this point that he most likely died in the ring, and not en route to the hospital.

Misawa was working Bison Smith and Akitoshi Saito with ROH regular and promising youngster Go Shiozaki for the GHC tag team belts.

Mitsuharu Misawa would have turned 47 on June 18th.

There will be more on this story and on the career of Misawa on this week's episode of Tha O Show Radio Program.

That's not really what Highlander Robbie and I were getting on about ...

It was simply the point that -- if some of your content is "more real" than everything else is "more fake" which hurts the product.

Your work should always look believable.

Misawa was an icon.
he will be missed

The only thing on RAW tonight that was a throw to Misawa was CM Punk's wrist-tape having Misawa's name in green.

Of course, Donnie will construe it as CM Punk being knee, but that's to be expected.

CM Punk had Misawa's name written on his wrist tape. Thought that was cool, wish WWE had mentioned his passing, even if just for a second.
