Steve-O To Wrestle In WWE?

The newest celebrity to enter a WWE ring looks to be MTV star Steve-O.

According to his myspace, the star of "Jackass" was backstage at "Raw" last night in Tampa shooting a commercial for the upcoming SummerSlam PPV. You can read his commentary by clicking here.

2007 is looking to be the year WWE indeed goes Hollywood in order to gain some mainstream attention.

No one from WWE has been able to confirm this story. According to Steve-O's commentary, the match for SummerSlam was almost called off because of his less than "professional" behavior backstage.

As of this writing, the match is indeed on but no opponent has been named. One can only assume that since Steve-O is claiming that he will wrestle in the main event, John Cena could very well be his opponent.

Steve-O is no stranger to WWE as he was involved in an angle with Umaga on "Raw" earlier this year in January. That was the infamous segment where WWE officials were pissed as hell that Steve-O no-sold Umaga's offense.

Steve-O will join Donald Trump and Kevin Federline as celebrities who have been involved in WWE PPVs this year.

That shows a lack of intelligence on the part of those in WWE. When Steve-O laughs out of what is apparent pain they should know that, that IS HIM SELLING.

Steve-O's numero uno defense mechanism is to laugh. Any guy that gets a tat with Henry Rollin's driving down a road with nothing but bumps and laughs the whole time is screwed in the head. Steve-O's pole vaulting exploits are notorious for his laughter and spitting. When he had J-A-C-K-A-S-S stapled to his A-S-S he laughed. When he and Pontious shot fireworks from their dicks and asses they both LAUGHED.

The mainstream audience, that knows anything about Steve-O knows if he looks hurt and laughing, he is really hurt. If the WWE had a brain they would show footage(heavily edited no doubt) of Steve-O in his more painful exploits and the laughter that ensues, from both Steve-O and the rest of the f'n world.

Steve-O vs. John Cena...Ron Simmons just walked in and has something to say. DAMN

I'm under the impression that it is going to be a "Jackass vs. WWE" match and that a few people will be working the match.

and while he is saying main event it wont be......much like trump @ mania, he will be a main event just not in the final match

lol and nothing is wrong with laughing when you get hurt i do the same thing.

Let Steve-o get honestly stiffed by pretty much any guy in that lockerroom... he won't be laughing... I guarantee an open-hand slap from someone like Taker could dislocate his jaw...

I am really suprised WWE is doing this after Steve-O no sold on Raw. Regardless of what Steve-O's reaction to pain really is, it looks retarded for trained and established WWE superstars to get knocked the f out by Umaga and 98 pound Steve-O to roll around giggling about it.

I do think that this will be a Jackass vs. WWE match rather than a singles match as was stated earlier, and I wouldn't look for John Cena to be anywhere in it's vicinity.

What will be interesting about this match is, Vince McMahon is going to want to be protective of the business and he knows he really won't be able to control the Jackass cast. So what can he do?

8 years ago he would have put them in the ring with the Acolytes and the Undertaker, guys notorious for being legitimately tough and taking care of business the hard way when need be.

It will be interesting now with JBL retired and not healthy enough to be part of the match, Ron Simmons retired, and Taker on the shelf who Vince will send out as enforcers during this match.

At first I really groaned about the idea because I loathe Steve-O. I don't mind Knoxville and Bam Margera and the other guys, but Steve-O always pisses me off for some reason.

I decided however to be a lot more easy going about the whole thing. Here's why:

This match should be telling about who WWE's current legit tough guy and lockeroom enforcers are. With WWE's current competition mainly coming from MMA, and them wanting to put a more realistic spin on their product, if any of the Jackass guys decide they are going to take liberties, the WWE guys should actually start kicking their asses, which is worth the price of a pay per view alone.

This is WWE's chance to show that they are legit tough with a good bit of national exposure. It's like Jerry Lawler slapping Andy Kaufmann on Letterman. The more the WWE guys hurt the Jackass crew, or the more the Jackass crew is willing to sell a worked injury, the more clout it will give to professional wrestling in the wake of the rise of mixed martial arts.

In my opinion, this match NEEDS to have guys getting the shit beat out of them legit, and could WWE really find better candidates for the job?
