"Big Cat" Ernie Ladd Passes Away

It has been a truly sad week for professional wrestling fans as today we bid farewell to another legend. Ernie Ladd passed away today from cancer, he was 68. Ladd had been battling colon cancer since 2004 but his condition worsened as the cancer spread to his stomach and bones.

Ladd was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 1995 and is remembered as one of the top heels of the 1970s and 1980s.

Before being recruited into professional wrestling by Freddie Blassie, Ladd was an elite football star having played with the Houston Oilers, Kansas City Chiefs, and the San Diego Chargers. While playing with the San Diego Chargers, Ladd accepted an invitation for a private wrestling workout with the idea of it being a publicity stunt. Ladd was a natural and left his career in football to pursue professional wrestling.

A physically huge man, Ladd began wrestling for the WWWF in 1968 and was one of their top drawing heels until he left in 1980. Ladd's most famous feuds in his WWWF run were with Bruno Sammartino and Bob Backlund.

After leaving the WWWF, Ladd spent some time in Mid-South Wrestling where he was a two-time Mid-South tag team champion with Leroy Brown.

Tha O Show would like to extend our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Ernie Ladd.

They say tragedy happens in threes.

Bad News and Big Cat may you rest in peace.

The third though is so much more personal for me.

Jonathan "Blinkaz" Chambers was gunned down last week, with a bullet in the shoulder and two to the head.

Chambers turned 21 just a few days ago. He was the best athlete I ever saw, and I had the opportunity to coach him in high school basketball for years.

I liked Bad News - never met Big Cat ... but my world won't ever be the same without Blinkz smilin and causin shit.

I hope the son of a bitch who shot him knows that he's going down.

RIP JC
