The Non Stop Action Has Stopped

For those of you that missed it, Lance Storm wrote a column last week discussing the inherent booking issues in TNA.

This week's episode is where I felt like I had to tap out. As good as TNA's Pay-Per-Views are, "iMPACT!" sucks. Quite simply put, the action has stopped, in Total Non-Stop Action Wrestling.

Tonight's hour long show featured LESS than eight and a half minutes of wrestling. Are you kidding me? UNDER EIGHT AND A HALF MINUTES!

TNA has lost it's way.

Everything that made this brand unique and a hip alternative to WWE has vanished. Gone is the grass roots approach. Gone is the emphasis on ring work. Instead we have complicated skits that take too long to unfold.

This subject has been beaten to death, but I think I'm finally at the point where I'm going to have to say "adios" to the new Vince Russo before I go back to "iMPACT!"

Sure some people in TNA have said, he's not the same guy he was in WCW or the WWF. I believe that. The guy who was in the WWF was great at his job. Especially when he had McMahon acting as his bullshit filter.

Who filtered Russo in WCW? Nobody. How about here in TNA? Same guy who got the job in WCW...oh ya, that's Nobody!

How could last night's show not feature guys like Bobby Roode and Petey Williams? Talents like these should be on every show!

Last night's show featured Abyss squashing Chase Stevens in 40-some odd seconds...We then had a match that was under two and a half minutes long!

Rhino, Jerry Lynn & Senshi lost to the team of Chris Sabin, Austin Starr & James Storm. The heels won this one in a very efficient 2 minutes and 13 seconds! WHAT?

The main event of Kurt Angle & Samoa Joe VS. AJ Styles & Christian Cage was ended by an Angle Olympic Slam on his much slimmer opponent. That match took a mere 6:23.

Four legitmate main events were ushered in and out in less time than it takes to butter both sides of your toast.

Here's my challenge to you, Tha O-Sters.

Let's take our complaints and do something about them. Write out a show lineup and post it as a comment.

List the TIME and the event side by side and remember - allot at least 12 minutes for commercials.

Include the matches, vignettes and whatever else you want to see on next week's episode of "iMPACT!"

We will forward your suggestions to TNA officials.

As if "iMPACT!" wasn't bad enough, I was seconds away from writing an article entitled "Don West and Mike Tenay Must Die!".

God, these guys are so horrible, it hurts to listen to them.

Among their gems tonight:

-Referring to Brother Ray as being "P.O.'d" about what LAX did to his uncle

-after Sting traps James Mitchell in a cage and says to Abyss "This Sunday night, this is the last time you'll ever see this guy", Mike Tenay says "Oh did you hear that? Sting just told Abyss Sunday at Against All Odds will be the last time he sees James Mitchell!"

And my favourite:
-after a commercial break Mike Tenay refers to he and his partner as "Mike and Don" - only problem with this...is that, with his thumb, he points to HIMSELF when he says "Don" and points to Don West when he says "Mike"

I hate these guys....so much.

Okay, on Sunday we have;

1.) A Prison Yard Mathc
2.) Little Italy Street Fight
3.) and a Motor City Chain Match

And then promoters wonder why gimmicks don't draw anymore. How many different names can you give a match filled with props and plunder?

I hope Sabin dresses in a diaper again on Sunday, 'cus that draws heat for your match.

You beat me to writing an article over this, which I was either going to title either "Total Nonstop Asinine" or "Total Nonstop Anti-climax". Seriously, everything in the show seemed so unnecessarily rushed. The only pop of the night was the Konnan promo. Brother Ray was alright. Not bad, but nothing to write home about.

Cage and Angle had better deliever a solid match on Sunday, or I'm going to start a grassroots "boycott Russo" campaign. Hey, if I was able to help bring the Dixie Chicks down(but that's another story for another day for another website), just imagine what I could do to Dixie Carter.

Great Article Donnie. It has the potential to get worse too. With Hogan unveiling the Hall of Fame candidates on Bubba the Love Sponge, apparantely they have thrown out the Hogan/Big Show, Hogan/Khali, Hogan/Umaga, Hogan/Shane ideas all together. Now Hogan is championing TNA, and has suggested that Hogan vs. Russo has a chance to be the hottest angle in wrestling.

If that happens, you can likely say goodbye to seeing guys like Robert Roode and Petey Williams all together. Hogan, although he is one of my all time favorites, needs the bullshit filter as well.

I'm sure most internet fans haven't forgotten that Hogan was public enemy number one in the dying years of WCW.

I can't imagine anything I want to see less than an on-air Hogan vs. Russo feud.

I understand that the show I just wrote wouldn't be anything amazing but giving the top 8 in the company 20+ minutes and allowing the BIG fueds to be highlighted probably couldn't hurt them much. Sorry no mention of team 3D or LAX but again my suggestion to TNA would be to not make a 48 minute clusterf*ck, and let some things take a side seat one week and then be the highlight the next week. The main 2 or 3 fueds should be touched on but not necasarily showcased. You've got 3-4 weeks between PPV's to get our attention, and hell every PPV has a "ROAD TO..." at 11:30 or midnight the nigh before.

Damn, my rating is officially at a 0.0

That would be a good main event, and based on the lack of TV time since dropping the X title and the new vignettes it appears they are either repackaging or getting ready to give the Fallen one a well deserved push into the main event kingdom.

Ben while that would be a great main event I booked the show you wouldn't watch on current storylines and other TNA happenings. I would not have thought of that match, and if I had I wouldn't have put it on iMPACT because that match would be too damn good to put on free tv. Props on an excellent match though.
