Do you hate Jeff Jarrett?

It's no secret that fans hate Jeff Jarrett.

They hated him in the WWF when he claimed he was going to have the company renamed the 'Double J-F' because of his dominance. Fans hated him when he pulled a Milli Vanilli and tried to convince us he had musical talent. We all booed him when he ripped off our boy The Honky Tonk Man and crowned every babyface in sight with a guitar.

Fans hated him when he went to WCW, and was thrust into the main event picture because of his friendship with Vince Russo. They hated the fact that he somehow became a multiple time world champion despite having the size or natural charisma of the majority of his predecessors.

For a brief moment, fans loved Jarrett - for bringing the world this new company known as TNA. But then they hated him for constantly positioning himself at the top.

It seems to me, that it's been a long time since Jarrett was hated for what he did in the ring and not for the front office politics he has been such a part of.

Instead of hiding this fact, TNA has finally decided to exploit it.

In case you've been hiding under a rock and haven't heard: NWA World Champion Jeff Jarrett will be facing Samoa Joe in a "Fan's Revenge Match". Apparently, the NWA title isn't on the line, but adopted babyface Joe will represent the people as they LITERALLY surround the ring playing the role of lumberjacks. As if that's not bad enough, each fan will be holding a leather strap, and be ready to whip JJ should he exit the ring.

This is unbelievable in concept. Much like ECW's old 'Fans bring their own weapons' matches - this is interactive broadcasting on a new plateau.

Sure, the crowd will be filled with plants. Sure, many of TNA's regulars will suddenly look like wrestling students. That's all good by me - it's the concept I love.

Think of all the websites and newsboards that have destroyed Jarrett online - calling him JJJ, TNA's Hitler and a horrible owner. Many in the industry have even gone so far as to refer to TNA as nothing more than the Jeff Jarrett and friends hour.

TNA is now advertising a bizarre contest on their site. Email them a video of you telling them how much you hate Jarrett and you could two tickets to No Surrender in Florida.

I have to admit - I can't stand Jarrett's politics or his on-air character, but I really dig the way he's trying to engineer some heat and play up on the face that he is so hated. This might actually turn me into a JJ fan!

I just wish he wouldn't position himself as the TOP guy with a bunch of distant seconds close behind.

Jeff has the ability to be a top heel. But a perrenial main event / champion? hell no.
