James Mitchell looking to join the new ECW?

A story was broken earlier today by the folks at PW Torch that TNA manager Father James Mitchell has contacted the WWE about joining the roster of the new ECW.

At this point it is unclear what sort of role Mitchell would fill, or who he wants to work with. The new ECW has just the one hour time slot has been struggling to fit workers into the show that are already under contract.

At this point, we are still trying to determine if Mitchell has a contract (expiring or at all) with TNA, and if he is looking to leave simply to expand his horizons or due to some sort of internal issues he has with the company. Currently he is the manager of main event attraction, Abyss.

Jim Mitchell was first introduced to mainstream fans in WCW when he was known as James Vandenburg - manager of the much talked about 'Blood Runs Cold' stable. He worked with Mortis (Chris Kanyon) and Wrath (Brian Clarke) and feuded mainly with Glacier. The gimmick never really got off the ground the way people anticipated.

Mitchell showed up in the 'original' ECW, and was known as "The Sinister Minister". There he guided men like Yoshihiro Tajiri and Mikey Whipwreck.

Mitchell has been a member of the TNA roster since the begining. His "New Church" faction featured men like Slash, Brian Lee, Toronto's Sinn and the late Malice.

No one with the WWE was available for comment on this issue despite Tha O Show's efforts.

I had heard a few days ago that Mitchell pitched an idea to Dreamer of him working with Sabu, but I don't know if it's true or not.

I dont know where Mitchell will fit in... but since this is WWECW, what the hell does that even matter. He could manage Dusty Rhodes triumphant ECW title reign or some such nonsense. Btw why havent whipwreck and tajiri joined the new ECW? I love those guys. Not in a gay way mind you. But theyre grrrrrreat. Also Im on the Blue Meanie's myspace and he's also concerned about not being even APPROACHED by the new ECW. FOR CRYING OUT LOUD any incarnation of ECW needs it's clown prince!

Aside from Dusty Rhodes, James Mitchell could manage a tomato can to a ECW title run that would rival RVD's tv title run given the current state and capacity of WWE creative.

How can you say James Mitchell is lame?? He's the best manager in the business... maybe most charismatic ever. He can deliver a promo that ISN'T a one line catch phrase or stupid cliche.

I know Kanyon would LOVE to do the Mortis gimmick again. He used to tell us that even when he was working for WCW. He was kinda pissed they gave up on the gimmick so quickly.
