The Sledgehammer sucks!

I have always thought that the sledgehammer is the dumbest foreign object used in professional wrestling. Used, pretty much exclusively, by Triple H, the sledgehammer just has no place in the ring. Now, obviously the argument can be made that NO object has a place in the ring, but remember we're talking about the "art" of performing within the context of pro wrestling. If you can literally take a chair shot to the head, it should be used. Tables, kendo sticks, garbage can lids (although I'm not a big fan of those) or just about anything that you can ACTUALLY hit a guy with and not murder him is...to me...a 'good' foreign object to use.

The picture shown to the above left here is a perfect example of why the sledgehammer is not.

I'll get to that in a moment...

With all due respect to the "King of Kings", Triple H is the worst chair shot-taker in the business. He never takes them to the head. I've said it before and I'll say it again...his forearms have taken more chair shots than any other two wrestlers in the business. Perhaps, this is why Triple H also happens to be the worst DELIVERER of foreign object shots in the game as well.

The sledgehammer that he constantly uses sucks because LOGICALLY it can KILL the person being struck with it. Back to that picture...because of the fact that it can deliver a deadly blow, HHH always hits his opponent with his HAND covering the HAMMER! How stupid is that? His hand should be crushed...and his opponent barely scathed. Sore at best. Why would anyone wanting to use a sledgehammer to knock someone out block the hardest part of the weapon with his hand? And if you'll notice in the picture, on last week's "Raw", Hunter connects with the lower part of Shane McMahon's neck, basically his shoulder...how would this knock him out? Why would WWE even publish this shot on their website?

I remember once seeing the hammer portion of this weapon 'bend' as Triple H used it to prop himself up in the ring. It appeared the hammer had actually been made of rubber or something...and this obviously made the spot look bad. BUT...I'd rather you knock a dude out flush with a rubber sledgehammer than protect your hated rival with the dumbest delivery of a foreign object shot ever!
