Jewels being gone is OK, an experiment that might not have worked, no reason for anyone to hold grudges.
Next on the chopping block should be Fronte. There is a way to play the fool and add to the show, like the blind Tiresias that can see the future (irony). Fronte just doesn't convey that, he has "go away heat". [Do you still call it "X-Pac heat" now that he is a friend of the show?]
Maybe try another experiment and let Frank be serious? With all the characters on the show you are not hurting for comic relief.
