I know this is an ECW report, but I don't like the fact that Mike Adamle is gone. Now Todd Grisham is the straight man for ECW, talk about your topsy turvey two days. Freddy Prinze, Jr. joins the creative team and things go ape nuts.
Good for Freddie though, shake it up. Next time though don't replace one green commentator with another commentator who is just as green. Grisham wasn't that bad, I actually liked some of it, but he looked incredibly nervous.
Colin Delaney was heel. Now I'm assuming he's either going to be turned into a babyface or taken off of TV for a while. I can guarantee neither, but that's my gut feeling. This of course is the result of being tossed over the top by his boy Mark Henry after Colin lost to Matt Hardy, who by the way will challenge Henry for the ECW title at SummerSlam.
Matt Hardy took ECW and made it his show tonight. As has been said concerning "Raw" and World Champ CM Punk he's in the mid-card. Top guys, babyface and heel should open the shows. Matt Hardy did that tonight and was joined by the top heel Mark Henry. Matt Hardy has a fan following that most would die for.
Matt could come to the ring in a chicken suit and still be over. Ric Flair, Matt Hardy, Jeff Hardy, Cham Pain, all from the Carolina's are over. Some sort of connection with the world. Back to the heel/face thing, Mark Henry and Tony Atlas are doing a great job of drawing heel heat, due in no small part to the "feats or strength" Henry performs weekly or bi-weekly.
Braden Walker and Matt Hardy are apparently pretty tight as well. At least they are now. Braden Walker had no problem taking part in punking out his old "wildcat" gimmick in reference to Delaney being a wildcat. Nice segment to give Walker a little rub. Also a nice way to establish that Walker is a face, not just a guy to get over the "talent initiative."
I was also happy to see that MnM is still a tag team. I've always hated that as soon as a team loses the titles they go their separate ways. Sometimes that turns out to be ok, but when done every single time it because tedious and does nothing for the division or for the belts.
The tag match with MnM against Finlay and Hornswoggle, and Hornswoggle's new hideous orange vest was much better than previous outings. Hornswoggle only came in for small spots, pun intended, and he didn't pin anyone. Nice television match, especially for ECW. The match built and developed and lasted around fourteen or fifteen minutes, plus the after the match bit. That's something I appreciate, especially when it's someone or something that deserves the time.
While MnM reestablished themselves as a tag team Mike Knox reestablished himself as a heel. His attack on Finlay and tease on Hornswoggle took great leaps to continue his heel heat. His interview also ensured boos for next week, and it also gave him a chance to speak and he did fine. Though I really think he reminds me more of a backwoods redneck "Deliverance" guy than just an outright tough guy, I think I candeal with this too.
Carlito Ortiz or Ricky Ortiz is like a Vince Russo/TNA re-hash. While Carlito never really played up the "undefeated" gimmick that was because he won the US Championship on his first night, but Ortiz just screams Carlito. Similar attitudes, similar look, though Ortiz is a good bit larger. I will say this, since Chavo loses again even though it was a DQ Christopher Casur is absolutely right, bring back Kerwin White! Though more Evan Bourne vs. Chavo could be interesting, but Chavo won't win much there either.

Good build up show last night.
Hardy v Henry build up was nice, though Hardy seemed so dry. The promos was dry and it's a tough mix to be "extreme" but all you ahve to say to your opponent is "I believe" over and over.
Mike Knox made a good appearance, sure it will lead to a short feud, and Finlay will put him over. That's what Finlay is great at and why he was initially brought in.
Nice to see the writers gave Walker and Bourne some face time. Keeping the guys fresh in the viewers' eyes. Though I don't see a future for Walker in WWE, it shows the writers are thinking on a much less complex level. Complexity really isn't their strong suit and has little place in wrestling.
Overall, not a 5-star show, but a good builder for the PPV and amelioration for the television product.
Just remember, DJB...in WWE, madness is like gravity. All it takes to get the ball rolling is a little push.
Absolutely true Joker. It's like I've often said though, If you're good at something...
