I've never been a big fan of Mike Knox, and I've never done much to keep that fact a secret. However, he still is one of the bigger guys on what is a fairly small ECW roster, so I'm not so averse to him going over on a guy like Shannon Moore, who the E has effectively labeled a jobber for life.
Moreover with Knox, I'm sure there exists a fleet of wrestling fans who believed it would be curtains for Knox's career in WWE when a box containing steroids was found right next to a box of Mike's personal effects. I'm glad this was not the case, even if Knox isn't my favorite wrestler.
Evan Bourne is dope. I remember about a year and a half ago, when Wrestling Society X debuted on MTV, Big Daddy Donnie reviewed the show, which featured a match with Evan Bourne(then Matt Sydal). In that review, Donnie said three words that he rarely says on this website or on his show-"I marked out." A year and a half later, everybody watching ECW is marking out, because Bourne is talented. On a small roster, I can see him making his way to the main event on Tuesday nights sooner or later.
Last night, Bourne's victory came at the hands of Chavo Guerrero, a guy who has a history of not liking the Shooting Star Press. Whereas I see Bourne as a guy with a lot of charisma who can go far in the business, I think Chavo has already hit his peak in the business. I don't think Chavo will ever escalate beyond the midcard again. At least, not until he brings back that damn golf cart. I'm not gonna let up on this one until Kerwin White returns.
Tommy Dreamer, who is one of only three originals left on ECW (maybe two, did Steven Richards move in the draft? Big thank you to anyone who finds that out for me), will face Mark Henry for the ECW Championship at The Great American Bash. In my mind, this is the smartest thing WWE could have done. Think about it. Whenever a new WWE Champion was crowned in the past decade, how often was his first title defense against Undertaker? Fairly often. Why? Because Undertaker is a long-tenured, remarkably over veteran whom a victory over lends credibility to the new champion.
Likewise, what names come to mind when you mention ECW? Of the names that most commonly come to mind, only Tommy Dreamer is still around. Yes, I realize that the new ECW has absolutely no ties whatsoever to the original ECW, but I really don't care. Tommy Dreamer is the guy that Mark Henry should be feuding with if they want to build the value of both Henry as a champion and of that belt, which never really had much value or prestige tacked onto it during its time in WWE. That being said, I would be remissed if I didn't make mention of Henry completely fucking up that frying pan last night. Goddamn, that guy is scary strong.
The main event featured John Morrison and The Miz vs a reunited Hardy Boys. I must admit, it is nice every once in a great while to see Matt and Jeff team up again, because even without tagging regularly they can still put on a very good show, last night being no exception to that rule. The match was solid, and while all indications say it won't, I am hoping that this match does not turn into a long running feud.
Right now, Matt Hardy is the centerpiece of a "SmackDown!" midcard that is trying to rebuild itself after being largely vacant for the past year, and Jeff Hardy can be used to help build a main event picture that wasn't as weak, but was still rather on the light side as far as roster size went. Take Matt and Jeff and put the tag belts on them, and now you've suddenly taken both of them from those roles, which really hurts "SmackDown!" and the United States Championship, which would likely lie dormant on Matt's waste while he had tag matches on a weekly basis.
Tha Reults:
*Mike Knox def. Shannon Moore
*Evan Bourne def. Chavo Guerrero
*Matt Hardy & Jeff Hardy def. John Morrison & The Miz

I may be one of very few Knox fans. I actually didn't like him up until a few weeks ago. His beard/short hair combined with his aggressive style in the ring (the backbreaker into shellshock is sick) is fun to watch. I think he could be a nice half to a tag team (prefer if his partner were someone fast, and could fly...dare I say it, Jeff Hardy + Mike Knox = Hard Knox).
I knew Henry was strong, but damn, now that I think about it, Michael Hayes had some balls to say anything that would piss that man off.
Hardys vs M&M was cool, but I'm a bit confused. Wasn't Matt drafted to ECW? If so, why does he keep showing up on SD? I don't mind it really, but is ECW it's own brand, or a branch of the SD or RAW or both, kinda like a neutral area.
Yo, Christopher Casúr, nah, Stevie is still on ECW. He wasn't drafted to anywhere else during the main-draft or the supplemental.
ECW Originals on ECW:
Nunzio
Stevie Richards
Super Crazy
Tazz
Tommy Dreamer
I think they should move Mysterio there as well...
I marked hard for Evan Borne. That standing Moonsault was sick! Dude had enough air to touch his ankles! I bet money he could dunk on a NBA rim. The thing I love the most is that it appears the E has faith in him and might actually use him. How about bringing back the Cruiserweight strap and let Borne, Helms, and Noble O for it.
Knox is badass. I wanna see him get a run with the ECW belt.
Finally, let it be known, I will never talk shit about Mark Henry again. I mean Jesus, he destroyed that pan.
Henry rolling the pan up was impressive, but did anyone notice Tony Atlas stopping the fan from Lexington a little quick? He was folding it himself! It started to curl, I swear.
mike knox is tha shit. i heve liked him for a while now, and finally i got some others that like him. i dunno what it is about him i jus like his style n all, and his finisher is one of the sickest in the E, hands down....
and yea the fan almost folded the pan so tony stoppedd him! so u werent seeing thnigs downtown, u weere right.
Evan Bourne = $$$
Evan Bourne is the shit. I said it my articles before and Hammer drove it home.
The E could sign Lizzy Valentine to come in with Bourne and redo their angle that had some MO on the indies. I doubt that'll happen though.
Evan Bourne's use and his push, as well as Brian Kendrick's on "SmackDown" and CM Punk as the World Heavyweight Champion is showing that the E is FINALLY figuring out that people do get and are interested in guys that aren't 6'5-355. It is a definite step in the right direction.
did chavo lose cleanly? i really dont like him as a heel but it sucks that he would lose so easily after beating punk cleanly as well as others.
Yes, he lost cleanly. I guess you can call it out if he's beat others cleanly, but I'm honestly wondering how he still has a job. Chavo (to me) hasn't been entertaining since he stopped riding Peppe.
