Royalty comes to Tha Show!

I am personally very excited to announce that a long time friend of mine has decided to join the ranks of our growing staff and become a full time contributer. This man has pretty much done it all, in and out of the wrestling business. This man, is Kingdom James.

Kingdom James has, at one time or another, been a stand-up comedian, radio dj and talk show host, strip club disc jockey, internet columnist and editorial writer and, most famously, professional wrestler and wrestling announcer. He's also been a warehouse receiver, worked with psychiatric patients and quadriplegics and, when he was 16 he was a line cook at a McDonald's in Scarborough, Ontario... but none of that is very glamourous, is it? It gets better, keep reading...

Kingdom was born and raised at “the centre of the known universe”: Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Kingdom's background is rather varied as his mother was born on the caribbean island of Trinidad and his father was born and raised in Canada's easternmost province Newfoundland. Kingdom's father has his own quirky background being the son of English and Ukrainian parents.

In his senior year of high school, Kingdom began performing as a stand-up comic on amateur nights at the famed Yuk Yuk's clubs in Toronto. He also managed to find the occasional paying gig as a host or emcee. Kingdom went to college in Oakville, Ontario to study animation but soon fell in love with the college's radio station and began working several shifts a week as a disc jockey and newscaster.

In 1995, Kingdom’s wrestling career began in earnest. Alongside such indy circuit stars as Johnny Swinger, Sexton Hardcastle (now the WWE’s Edge), Christian Cage (WWE’s Christian), Rhino Richards (WWE’s Rhyno) and Joe E Legend (formerly WWE’s Just Joe), Kingdom worked the Detroit, Toronto and Cleveland regions. Moving to Pittsburgh, Kingdom performed on shows as far east as New York City and as west as Wichita, KS. Along the way he earned several regional championships including the WWO World title, the PWX Tag Team titles (twice) and the ICW Streetfight tag titles in Detroit (with current TNA star Rhino as his partner). Joining Les Thatcher’s Heartland Wrestling Association in Cincinnati in 1997 helped Kingdom improve his wrestling technique even more.

At one time or another, Kingdom has either wrestled against, tagged with, managed for or at least traded punches with such names as Sgt. Slaughter, Honky Tonk Man, Headshrinker Samu, Ricky Morton, Shark Boy, Al Snow, Blue Meanie, Nova, Test, Wild Samoan Afa, Dominic DeNucci, 3-time former NWA World Junior champ Vince Kaplack (pictured above), Chris Hamrick and the aforementioned Swinger, Legend, Edge, Christian and Rhino.

Throughout his wrestling career, Kingdom has been celebrated for his mic skills, being able to excite a crowd to thunderous cheers or deafening jeers. Although he drastically reduced his schedule as a wrestler, more or less retiring in 2001 due to accumulated injuries, Kingdom parlayed his wit into a weekly column at the now-defunct WrestleStock.com website. He also became ring announcer for the Los Angeles-based XPW during the upstart promotion's attempt at national expansion in 2002 and 2003. In 2003 and 2004, he promoted a number of his own live wrestling events under the Union of Independent Professional Wrestlers banner. Kingdom is currently working as a color commentator for the weekly tv show and home video releases of Pittsburgh's International Wrestling Cartel and as color commentator and Head of Talent Relations for the new British promotion, 1PW.
