Wasn't Pedro Morales the first triple crown winner? Shawn was the first to win the top three plus the euro title.

You're right anonymous guy. I meant to say HBK was first Grand Slam winner.

I LOVE the original MR. EVERYTHING Pedro Morales. Shame on me.

HHH VS Taker has NO steam and NO buzz.

The world WANTED Taker VS Lesnar and then Taker VS Sting .... now we get a re-hashed match!

I disagree withe rock statrement some what. Like everyone else I was disappointed the rock was not there but if he had been the it would not correlate because cena came out during the main event. If rock was their and did not do what he said he would do it would make him look weak. Also he said on twitter that he was not schedualed to come. He is definatly not on contract so it should not be expected

tex said...

@anon - You're acting as if Rock was there the show would've gone EXACTLY the same way and you're complaining about how Cena already had the main event; a main against ALEX F'N RILEY.

Cracka (assuming you are) PLEASE.

Rock doesn't have a long term "contract" but he has some kind of agreement on paper (something this big wouldn't be verbal)

Doesnt matter if Rock wasn't "scheduled" to be there... thats backwards. he SHOULD HAVE BEEN

I'm one of the few Osters I think who remembers SLAM THE WRESTLING SHOW on VIRTUALLY CANADIAN.

Back then i hated MMA and the Pit Stop was something I wasn't into but TID made me LOVE MMA.

I also LOVED when he used to call out KEN SHAMROCK every week. SOOO GOLD!!!!

Just starting listening, but i totally agree with what dan said about hunters opening segment...the rest of the locker room being shit. and then Shamus came out and I was like oh ya, kinda forgot about him I wouldn't mind him fighting Taker ...and when Orton came on I again thought hey, that would be good to see...Orton Vs. Taker

It pains me to agree with Frank. It really does...

But Frank was right on the money as far as the whole Rock thing goes.

Am I the only one who knew what Rock meant when he said "he will never leave again"?

He meant he will never go 7 years again without showing up. He will come see us once or twice a year to let us know he still cares.

As far as him not being there, sorry that doesn't give Cena a leg up on him. Truth is, Rock is a busy man. He doesn't have the time on his hands that Cena has for "being there". Cena is there with the people because he hasn't had a better offer yet. How you gonna say 'I would never do this" or "I would never leave WWE behind" when you are not being offered these opportunities. He is not in Rocky's position (nor will he ever be), so he has no idea what he is talking about.

I loved Rock's pre-tape this week. They never advertised him as "there in the arena" so i didn't feel ripped off in any way. And I understand, Rock is a busy, busy man.

As far as more Rock on RAW being a good thing for business, point blank you are wrong. Because eventually Cena and Rock would have to come face to face in one of those appearances. Once they are face to face that first time, it's done. You can't re-create that. You should make people pay for that.

The more Rock does on free tv, the less special it will be when people have to pay for it as part of Mania. Donnie, as a booker, I am shocked that you don't see this.

For once, Frank speaks the truth.

Big Daddy Donnie said...

To the Frank agree'er....

Let me go backwards. Your point about as a booker I should see your point of view ... There are a million ways to book the same thing and still have it come off well.

With respect to Rock being a busy man, if you're too busy for a six week program, don't do it.

He could VERY EASILY be in the building with Cena and NOT have them meet face to face ... ESPECIALLY since Cena is in the middle of a feud.

i.e. Cena searches every locker room for Rock, but Miz smashes him from behind because he's tired of being am afterthought.

IF the WWE is able to convince Rock to take a check for a billion dollars and actually WORK a match at Mania, then Cena / Rock going face to face on Raw does NOTHING to hurt the buy. In that case they simply need not touch each other.

If the whole angle is leading to a face to face encounter and nothing more, then yes - keep them seperate till Mania, but do it creatively so you get most bang for your buck and have BOTH MEN on Raw.

To say it can't be done or can't be done well is simply lazy booking.

As far as Rock's statement of "never going away" ... of course that's how he meant it and anyone with a third of Fronte's brain power should be able to realize that. I was goofing on all the fans who took it literally and really expected him to make a comeback and be on the roster full time like HBK did.

Good discussion. Good points, but ultimately you should have trusted your instincts and not agreed with Frank.

Please fire frank, his voice is like a 5 year old girl. His laugh is like 13 year old girl hitting puberty and i dont think he knows anything about wrestling or life

Respect Donnie. And chances are, your booking of the Cena/Rock/Miz is extremely close to what will play out on tv in the coming weeks. But that's just my point. The angle of Cena tearing up locker room looking for Rock and then being blindsided by a jealous Miz who is sick of being an after thought? Classic wrestling booking. I love it. but this wasn't the week for that. We have time.

The Rock only returned two weeks ago to when that promo aired. Two weeks! And then the week after the return, John Cena returned to thuganomics with the big counter strike. Then the next week Rock sends in a pre-tape from his home and responds, defends his position and completely mocks Cena and hypes Wrestlemania large. To me, that is all running right on course. This wasn't the week for Rock's return. Next week? I don't think next week is for Rock to return either. Stone Cold and Rock on the same show is overkill. You don't need it. It would be huge. It would be awesome, but I think it's better not to overshadow Austin's return to tv and also I don't think you need to blow your load with 4 weeks left. It's so important that hype for Mania doesn't peak too early. The Rock and Cena angle needs to be at a fever pitch come Wrestlemania weekend, not now, next week, week after, etc.

As far as Cena goes, on this coming week I would do something where now Cena records some kind of pre-tape vingette, similar to the HBK/Larry king shit, where he is dressed up like the Rock, ribbing on Rocky selling out and his movies, etc.

Then have Rock come the week after and really promote all week "The Rock and Cena will both be in the building this Monday for Raw. What will happen?". The have what you said where it's a tease for them to come face to face but it never happens because Miz takes out Cena earlier in the night. Keep building the tension for further weeks leading into Mania.

Raw did a 9.3 in Mexico, probably because of Mistico so that's not too bad. AAA did a 2,8, stiff.

Ricos the man, i want him to have his own segments of Mexico stories. Preferably ones where he buries niggas, or working near Rio Bravo.

Another kick ass show of course...

but i agree with ADAM

if that guy needs to be part of the show technically or whatever, get rid of his fuckin mic

Let's be honest. It is buffalo. I won't even capitalize the b. Other than its wings and outlet malls, NOBODY wants to go to buffalo.
Proof: A guy from buffalo welcomes wack juice.

Wow, as if there were not enough reasons to not watch WWE already, those still watching must now put up with booker HHH burying everyone in sight and pretending that he still belongs in a top program.

What's next? VKM, Steph and Linda coming back and having 20 minute promos each every night? Awesome Kong dressed up like Bertha Fey?

Good thing I follow "real" pro wrestling. Can't wait for King of Trios!

Great show from top to Bottom... It does sound like there's too many people in the studio sometimes, but I love the chemistry between everyone... Can't wait for the new theme.

Huge O for the show Breakout Kings, kinda reminded me of the A-Team... Interested to see what the rating's turn out for it.

Hey Donnie,

I have been meaning to write you for about a month regarding a statement you made on the show where you said that Bob Backlund only held the Fed title for "a cup of coffee" before dropping it to Sheik.

Just so you know, that "cup of coffee" lasted just shy of 6 years. Look it up...

lol.

(read this with a tone of sarcastic anger rather than personal heat)

While watching the worst ending to RAW in recent memories, I found myself becoming furious, not with the WWE, but with Tha O Show.

How dare they say that Cena is winning the battle. Cena has been outclassed every step of this `battle`. You guys are like the hip-hop fans that judge a battle solely based on punchlines, completely ignoring style, rhythm, flow, vocal tone. Like when some little crappy white emcee with a journal full of pre-written punchlines who can``t flow and has a weak voice is considered `the winner`because he had truth in his punchlines. I don`t judge a battle like that. Just because Brian Gerwertz writes you some stupid punchlines that have some truth in them doesn`t mean you beat the Rock in no promo battle. And Cena's mock t-shirt should have said "i bring it via satellite because I actually succeeded in Hollywood".

no "personal heat" there anonymous? hmmm
