Tha iMPACT! Playback

“The Band” is the title of tonight's episode of iMPACT!. We start things off this week with a video package of what went down on January 4th at the first TNA iMPACT! of 2010 and the debut of Hulk Hogan in TNA. Without a doubt TNA goes straight into the action with the debut of Generation Me.

Generation Me vs. Motor City Machine Guns

The new guys show up and show us why they got signed. Generation Me bring it to the MCMG’s and catch the win in their TNA debut. These kids were fast and furious and full of high flying tactics. Reminded me of the Hardys in their early days.

Members of “The Band” arrived during this match backstage. Are we calling the nWo “The Band” ?? You guys coulda came up with a lil something better, come on...

Meanwhile The Nasty Boys are in their new locker room and have Team 3D locked out. New feud here for sure. Now the NB’s are defiantly old cats and most people aren’t interested in seeing the same old same old, but I believe this is a fresh tag feud for TNA. I don’t think these teams have never squared off in the past. Correct me if I’m wrong here. It’s nice to see that TNA cares about the tag division.

Kurt Angle makes his way to the ring and gives AJ his props for their match last week on iMPACT! Styles comes out and thanks Kurt then tells him that at Genesis it’s Angle’s last shot for 2010. This was a Cena-Orton moment. Styles gets bum rushed by the masked man on his way up the ramp. The masked man gets AJ in the ring and beats down Styles and takes off the mask and it’s…..Tomko! AJ’s former partner.

Bubba the Love Sponge is in the back with “The Band”. Scott Hall, Kevin Nash and Sean Waltman. Bubba’s asking where Foley is and gets no answers. Christy calls Waltman Six Pac. Classic!

Non title match: TNA Knockouts Tag Champs Awesome Kong & Hamada vs. The Beautiful People

The BP come out and find Angelina Love at ringside and gives her hugs. Surprise Angelina’s back! The Knockouts Tag Champs get it poppin’. Kong takes control. I’d love to see Kong fight Dan-e-o. This was a fast match that was dominated by Awesome Kong. Awesome bomb and she gets the pin.

Angelina makes her way in the ring after in what appears to be concern when Bang Angelina attacks the Beautiful People, taking it to Lacie and crew. “Replace me?” she says on her way up the ramp. Angelina Love is back in the building. Beautiful People we still love you!

AJ Styles storms Bischoff’s office and demands a match for tonight against Tomko. Easy E agrees to the match for the main event if AJ is willing to put the title on the line. AJ agrees and it’s on! Main event for iMPACT! tonight is AJ Styles vs. Tomko for the TNA Championship.

Seems like everyone is lookin for Bischoff or Hogan. Beer Money is running around looking for Eric. You would think these guys would know their way around and where people’s offices are since the iMPACT! Zone is in the same place every week. It’s not like they’re on the road. Borash comes in to Bischoff’s office asking about Foley and where he is.

Eric tells him that what happened to Foley is on Borash since he let Foley in the building when he was banned. Good point. Beer Money interrupts and tells Eric they have a problem with Eric’s “Boys”. Who they claim jumped them last week. BM says they want Hall and Nash at Genesis. The Outsiders vs Beer Money? More tag teams. Actually this whole show so far has been tag matches.

Lethal Consequences vs. Team 3D

Creed and Lethal make their way to the ring but get rushed by a berserk Bobby Lashley who takes out the team. The wife grabs the mic. Damn somebody choke this chicken head. She says Bobby’s taking out the roster one by one until they get their meeting with Hogan. Hey Bob! Just do us all a favor and leave already. Team 3D come out after.

Ray’s got an axe in his hand and they take it to LC. Quick, fast and it’s over. One move and they get the win. Wack!

Ray grabs the mic and goes off about The Nasty’s, blah blah from the tomato head. He says The NB’s are riding Hogan’s coattails. I must concur. They say they're comin for the Nasty Boys and head backstage and take the axe to the locker room door. There s no one inside and the place is trashed. “What’s that smell?” The NB’s rush 3D and give em a beat down ala Nasty Boy style. Welcome to Nastyville…..

So…..Tomko thinks that AJ and Tomko were the greatest tag team in TNA history and that he taught Styles everything he knows. I beg to differ there pal. Everyone is gunning for Styles.

Morley comes out to the ring and says he was made for TNA. Sean Morley stars, directs and produces porn?? I hope not. Daniels interrupts Morley and says he likes his idea about TNA Films. Then attacks Morley in the middle of pitching his idea to Sean. Best Moonsault to Morley and we have another new feud folks…

Jarrett makes his way into the Zone with some guy in a suit. A lawyer perhaps?

Beer Money vs. Hernandez & Matt Morgan

Beer Money starts things off on the right foot, but the two big men quickly turn the tide. High Flying Super Mex gets attacked from behind by Big Rob Terry causing a DQ. Speaking of The British Invasion. The World Elite has been virtually non existant in 2010. Where is Eric Young and hsi Global Championship and his big mouth?
I expect Morgan and Hernandez to take the titles at Genesis.

Out comes The Band. Beer Money attack Waltman but Nash and Hall hit the ring and get the upper hand on BM. Out come the refs and security to break it up.

The Band? I’m totally not feeling the name but I get the point that it implies the nWo so I’ll let it go. Either way I got the reunion I never thought I would see again. I wonder how long this reunion will last?

Bischoff comes out and says he’s gonna make a match. LOL at Scott Hall where he interrupts Eric after he starts saying he’s gonna make a match and Scott interjects “where I drink all Beer Money’s beer”. Scott ya drunk, sober up pal. So, it’s Beer Money vs. Scott Hall & Kevin Nash at Genesis.

Did ya ever think you would see “The Outsiders” reunite one more time? I sure didn’t. Ol Scott keeps dropping the ball and fucking shit up and getting kicked to the curb. See what alcohol does to ya kids?

Before the commercial the Stinger is seen up in the rafters again.

Desmond Wolfe vs. Samoa Joe

The Pope joins the broadcast team for this match. Note to the mainstream media and old white people: The term “Bling” is over. We stopped using that in hip hop once ya’ll grabbed it. Lil Wayne and the Hot Boyz coined it and ya’ll killed it. Saying “Bling” is not cool and does not make you cool. Samething ya’ll did to "def", "dope" and a slew of other terms.

Back to the match. Great fresh match up here unlike the WWE. Wolfe is a bad ass but Samoa handles his. The Pope is growing on me. Wolfe turns the tide on Joe and takes control until he goes for the Tower of London and Joe puts the choke on Wolfe. Desmond fights off the choke and Joe still gets caught in the Tower and Desmond Wolfe gets the pin. I was surprised that Wolfe beat The Samoan Submission Machine. Did Joe just job to Wolfe? The Pope uses the N word. WTF of the night.

Did anyone notice that this was the first singles match of the night? Nice way to display the tag teams TNA but ya might wanna spread it out a bit.

A limo pulls up and it’s The Nature Boy! Flair is gonna join the broadcast table. Nice. I’d probably prefer Ric over Taz on the mic except for the ego. Whoooooo!!!!!!

Jarrett and his lawyer rush Hogan and Biscoff’s office. Jeff goes off on Hogan. Eric sets Jarrett straight and Hogan says there is nothing in his contract that says he can’t kick Jarrett’s hillbilly ass. Wasn’t Hulk born in Georgia? I’m just saying. These guys spiel was pretty darn horrible. Ya’ll shoulda shot that one over. What’s with what Jeff said on his way out the door? “You haven’t heard the last of my attorney” WTF !? Jeff, your attorney never spoke a word pal.

Out comes Flair. Whooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!! to join the broadcast team. It’s Main Event time!

iMPACT! Main Event: TNA Championship Match - AJ Styles vs. Tomko

Ric Flair says “it’s all good” See what I mean. Next thing you know they’ll be saying “that’s what’s up” and “my dude”.

Hey TNA if you want a main event ring announcer then holler at me! Borash is no Michael Buffer.

Tomko doesn’t even wait for the intro before he attacks Styles. AJ turns it around on Tomko and out comes Angle to the ramp and to the broadcast table and shakes hands with Ric Flair. Tomko takes control of the match when Styles is distracted by Kurt’s presence. AJ shows us his style and hits Tomko with the Pellee and gets the win on Tomko. Tomko attacks Styles after the match and Angle makes the save. Kurt extends the hand to AJ but Styles just walks by Angle. Ohhhhh…I hope Kurt wins just for that alone so Angle can go off with his ego after Genesis.

Over all not a bad iMPACT! Not great but the story is building here so l’ll give it a chance. I do think Genesis is too soon and should be a week later than this Sunday but that’s just my opinion.

A few questions. Who is the "Big" name rumoured to debut at Genesis? Is it RVD or Sid? Where was Jeff Hardy this week? As I mentioned above the World Elite is MIA. Where is the Global Champ and crew? Where was Abyss? Raven? Dr. Stevie? Orlando? A lot of missing guys this week. The roster is getting deep. Time for two shows or time to fire people? Rumor has it Stenier is on his way out. If so where could Scott go but retirement?

I must say I kinda missed having iMPACT! on this past Monday.

Of course I watched RAW but I enjoyed having the choice and the excitement of it. Plus I get all my wrestling fix in on one night. Smackdown! and ECW don't get my loyalty. I'm just too damn busy for all that.

TNA is doing a European Tour after Genesis. After that perhaps they will have had enough time to plan moving iMPACT! to Monday nights permanently. There is a buzz about it. Rumours are swirling around and as I've reported there have been talks about this with TNA and Spike! TV. I'm sure if this were to go down they would plan it properly instead of going off the cuff of the Jan. 4th special. That was just the test run I believe. Let's see what happens.

The premier of TNA Epics was right after iMPACT! If you missed it be sure to check it out next Thursday. Hey fellas! You wanna know where Mick Foley is? He’s hosting TNA Epics !

Funny thing, the first match on TNA Epics is Kurt Angle vs AJ Styles. Until next week. Cross the Line!

Tha Results:

Generation Me def. MCMG’s
Awesome Kong & Hamada def. The Beautiful People
Team 3D def. Consequences Creed
Beer Money vs. Matt Morgan and Hernandez – DQ
Desmond Wolfe def. Samoa Joe
AJ Styles def. Tomko

Looks like the big name to debut at Genesis is Ken Anderson aka Ken Kennedy
