Killa Kev's UFC 106 Recap

Kendall "Da Spyder" Grove (186 lbs, 12-6-0) vs. Jake Rosholt (185.5 lbs, 6-1-0)

Mario Yammosaki is our referee in charge as we start round one. Grove comes out throwing punches, but Rosholt wisely and easily evaiding, Roshalt goes for a double leg takedown 30 seconds in and gets the big takedown, takes Grove's back, Grove gets back to his feet, Roshart continues to remain attached and takes him down again.

90 seconds into this round Roshart has a solid reverse waistlock, Grove frees himself, turns around and gets double underhooks on Roshart, drags him to the ground.

Roshart goes into full guard, Groves pushes him up against the cage and takes his time throwing elbows and punches to the head and ribs. Roshart uses the cage to get back to his feet, throws a big left and a flying knee, 2:15 left in the round.

Grove tries to throw Roshart down, he stuffs it and pulls Grove down instead, Grove is in half guard and is now the man against the cage. Grove is trying to use the cage to escape but it instead allows Roshart to get full mount, Grove tries a hip escape that only results in Roshart rolling him over and gaining his back. Grove rolls him over, gets half guard, and is able to grab an arm and pull out a submission with a triangle choke.

WINNER: Kendall Grove d. Jake Rosholt @ 3:59 of Round One via Submission (Triangle Choke). Joe Rogan moves in for the interview, points out that it appears Grove was going for an omoplata at first. Grove dedicates the fight to his grandmother, who just recently passed away, the comments that the Triangle Choke "is my thing" and he was looking to go for it as soon as he could.

George Sotiropoulos (155 lbs, 10-2-0) d. Jason Dent (155 lbs, 19-09-0)

We start out Round One with Sotiropoulos firing away with a few combinations, a nice kick to the head, but Dent is countering with nice strikes. Sotiropoulos throwing nice punch and kick combos, neither man giving up much ground for the first minute. Sotiropoulos tries for the clinch but Dent punches his way out of it. Dent lands a few combinations, Sotiropoulos counters with kicks.

Joe Rogan feels that it's good technical boxing, Mike Goldberg agrees. Sotiropoulos is landing switch kicks with 3:10 left, Dent is countering with good counter left punches. 2:22 Sotiropoulos with the double leg takedown on Dent, Dent is able to get half guard, Sotiropoulos lands some punches and tries for a leg, eventually stands up and tries to land some strikes, drops down at 1:33 and is able to gain side control on Dent. Sotiropoulos is working hard to fidn an arm or a leg for a submission.

He switches to the other side, gets full mount at 55 seconds left, Dent rolls over and gives up his back, rolls over again and Sotiropoulos starts throwing bombs to the head and face, Dent rolls over and takes shots to the back of the head, but intelligently defending. Dent is able to wiggle around and push off the cage to create some space, stretches completely out to prevent Sotiropoulos from completely dominating. Last 15 seconds of the round Sotiropoulos is able to sit up and just blash Dent with punches, but the round ends before he can score a TKO.

Round Two underway, Dent with a left leg kick, Sotiropoulos fires back with a head kick and a few strikes. Dent responds with some nice counter punches, drops his hands arrogantly as he throws a low leg kick. Sotiropoulos starts trying to blast Dent's face in return, but they settle back down into strike attempts, nothing really connecting as the first minute passes.

Dent goes for a left leg kick, Sotiropoulos grabs it, sweeps him and takes side control, Dent regains side control but eats a lot of punches to the face. Sotiropoulos flips around for a front face lock, into a Darce Choke, then rolls around and gains the back at 3:00 left. Dent rolls over and over to try to escape, ends up on his back in half guard. Sotiropoulos gains side control 30 seconds later, smothering him in a North-South position, then back to side control with elbows to the side of the head.

Dent tries to eescape and stand up, Sotiropoulos with a front face lock, releases it and takes Dent's back, Dent goes down to his knees to avoid the slam, rolls over Sotiropoulos has full mount with 90 seconds left in the round, starts throwing punches to the head. Sotiropoulos tries to isolate the left leg and right arm, rolls over 55 seconds left and tries for a submission, flips him oer he's got a key lock, pulls the arm loose, dent fights it, Sotiropoulos is able to pull the arm all the way out, full extension, and Dent taps.

WINNER: George Sotiropoulos d. Jason Dent @ 4:36 of Round 2 by Submission (Armbar). Joe Rogan with the interview and takes us through the clips. Sotiropoulos thanks his trainers and sponsers afterward.

"Killa B" Ben Saunders (7-1-2, 170 lbs.) vs. "The Irish Hand Grenade" Marcus Davis (21-6-0, 177 lbs.)

Will Killa Kev root for Killa B? I dunno, kinda hard to do when Davis has so much more experience. Plus, I don't like his tattoos. Davis looks much cleaner... and much more mean! Josh Rosenthal is our referee as our men tap gloves to start Round One. Saunders tries for a high kick right out of the gate, then goes itno a clinch. Davis puts him up against the cage and tries for a sweep, can't get it and eventually releases.

We go back t the middle for a moment, Davis drives in, Saunders with the clinch again, lands some nice knees on Davis on the cage, but Davis throws him off, spins him around and puts Saunders back on the cage again. Davis is cut over his right eye. Davis tries for a throw at 3:30, Saunders blocks it again. Saunders starts throwing knees again, reverses position and throws more knees to the midsection. Davis is able to pull it back to the middle of the ring, but Saunders keeps the clinch and throws several knees to the head, but Davis pulls out, his face is looking bloody already.

Saunders with a nice jab before he moves back in for the clinch and Davis is back on the cage, 2:30 left in the round. Davis is able to put in a knee or two of his own, but Saunders is working away with his own knees to Davis' midsection. Davis is able to shove off to escape, back to the middle of the ring 2:00 left. Saunders with knees, they trade jabs, Saunders with a clinch, throws several devestating knees on the cage, Davis goes down 1:36 left IT IS ALLLL OVER!

WINNER: Marcus Davis d. Ben Saunders @ 3:24 of Round One by Knockout (Knee Strikes). Well, Saunders pulls it out anyhow, becoming the first guy to stop Marcus Davis in UFC. Saunders says he respects Davis for his talent and experience, and hopes to be where Davis is ten years from now. We go through the replay and watch the Muay Thai clinch into the knee strikes. Saunders shows himself to be quite the class act.

Brock Larson (27-3-0, 170 lbs.) vs. Brian Foster (14-4-0, 170 lbs.)

Round One starts with both men easing they way into the middle of the ring. Foster tries to take control of the center, strikes first, charges, Foster easily counters and starts grappling, gets a headlock but Foster escapes quickly, gries for a takedown with 4:00 left, Larson stuffs it and tries for his own, Foster is able to shake it for awhile but Larson with a big single leg takedown near cageside, pushing Foster up on the cage. Larson grabs a leg, spins around for side control with 3:20 left, falls back into Foster's half guard.

Foster stands back up, Larson has his back, Foster grabs the right leg though. Larton hammerfists from the back, Foster is still working but gets the takedown right into full mount, but Foster lets it go, 2:25 left, opting to rain down bombs from the top. Foster swinging big, gets in close and lands several big punches to the face of Larson, he's really swinging with hard rights, he slips and manages to fall right into side control on Larson! Larson tries to block, Foster is back with full mount.

Larson tries to roll out of it, Foster stays with him and doesn't let him go far, landing good punches. Larson pushes him off, Foster stands up and starts trying to throw big heavy hands, avoiding Larson's kicks for the most part. 1:00 left, Foster goes for another big strike, Larson kicks him in the leg, Foster slips an Larson with an inadvertant kick to the face, taking an eye poke from the toe. Referee yves Levigne stops the fight so doctors can look at it.

We replay, Larson's foot is full flush wit hthe face, no poke, but with Foster having both hands and knees on the ground, it's an illegal strike and Levigne is deducting one point from Larson. Foster says he's ready to go, we start back, tap gloves at 49 seconds left in the round. Larson swings, Foster throws him down but Larson recovers and immediately locks in a Guillotine Choke, but can't finish.

Larson goes down to two knees and a hand, Larson throws a knee right to the top of the head, and Levigne again stops the fight and deducts another point. Levigne backs Larson back to his corner and explains why he stopped it again. We start one more time but the horn sounds seconds later. Larson is PISSED about what has happened.

Round Two starts with Larson down 10-7 in points most likely. Foster throws a few low kicks then some strikes to dominate the first 30 seconds, Larson is backed up to the cage, eats a right as Foster swings for the bleachers more, Larson ducks it and goes back to the middle of the ring.

Foster tries for a Superman punch, Larson counters with strikes, Foster stays right in there and lands a nice right, both men back off. Larson throws a right, Foster quickly counters with his own right and connects. Larson circles on the outside cautiously, 3:15 left in the match. Larson with a big right that misses. Larson fakes a few punches, fans start to get restless as we go under three minutes.

Larson tries for a front thrust kick, Foster counters with jab attempts. Foster with a good right, attempts a windmill punch, then takes Larson down like a rag doll and nails his face with punches from side control. Larson regains full guard and tries to punch from the bottom, but Foster just throws him aside and wants to stand up again. larson with another takedown attempt, Foster counters with an uppercut that drops Larson to his knees, throws a few more punches and Larson taps immediately, dripping blood!

WINNER: Brian Foster d. Brock Larson @ 3:25 of Round Two by TKO (Repeated Strikes). We replay, see Foster with the big belly-to-belly takedown, then the uppercut that drops Larson and stops the fight. We then go to the back with Joe Rogan interviewing Tito Ortiz, pretty much the same things Ortiz has been saying all week about the fight. The show now switches to PPV, thanks for the free prelims Spike TV!

"The New York Bad Ass" Phil Baroni (13-11-0, 170 lbs.) vs. Amir Sadollah (2-1-0, 170 lbs.)

"Bad to the Bone" blasts across the arena as Phil Baroni comes out, making his return to UFC, a much toned down entrance than we're used to seeing. Joe Rogan comments that Baroni had a lot of success in PRIDE since he left UFC. He didn't mention how he went winless in Strikeforce and was uncerimoniously dumped, but then again UFC picked him right back up within HOURS.

Baroni is looking a little more toned and more impressive than I last remember seeing him. Amir Sadollah is an Ultimate Fighter Season 7 Welterweight winner, but has had mixed success in UFC sofar. Bruce Buffer back in the ring to start the inroductions for our first fight on the PPV. Your referee for this bout is Yves Lavigne.

Baroni starts out Round One with a big right, but Sadollah goes into the clinch and puts Baroni on the cage. Baroni reverses and nails several big uppercuts, Sadollah eats the, throws his own knees. Baroni tries for a takedown, Sadollah blocks it, puts Baroni on the cage. Baroni with more uppercuts, Sadollah eats them and goes on, in the clinch again, hits knees to the face. Baroni pushes him to the cage, Sadollah keeps the clinch, keeps throwing knees. Baroni counters with a knee and an uppercut, 3:30 left in the round. Baroni throws some big punches, Sadollah keeps him on the cage through and counters with knees.

Baroni now with the clinch and throwing knees, turns it around, punchs to the midsection, Sadollah now iwth clinch and throws knees again, mor eknees, under 3:00 now, Sadollah nailing more of th eknees as Baroni counters with dirty boxing. Baroni with a double-leg takedown at 2:35 left, puts Sadollah in the corner, takes guard, Baroni throws a few punches as Sadollah clinches up, Baroni gets him down on the mat, Sadollah tries for a Triangle Choke, Baroni blocks it and continues to throw punches. Sadollah is able to get some space, Baroni stands up.

Sadollah goes for a push kick at 1:35, Baroni grabs the leg and puts him on the cage, Sadollah reverses the position, goes for the clinch again and throws more knees. Baroni is able to get a front face lock, going for a Guillotine Choke, Sadollah escapes, throws a knee and a big right, but Sadollah slips, but uses that to try for a single leg takedown. Baroni is busted open over his left eye, 45 seconds left in the round.

Sadollah is working from Clinch still, throwing knees, Baroni looks gassed but keeps countering with knees and punches. Sadollah nearly gets a takedown from a knee, but Baroni grabs a leg and attempts his own. Sadollah blocks, 10 seconds left, Baroni pushes him into the cage, Sadollah stands up, clinches, knee knee kene punch knee WE GET THE HORN!

Baroni's corner tells him during the break to stay out of the clinch and keep punching range. Round Two starts with Sadollah coming out swinging and kneeing, puts Baroni on the cage, more knees, more knees, clinch, more knee!!! Baroni punches his way free but Sadollah is right back with KNEE KNEE KNEE! Baroni nails a stiff right hand to the side of Sadollah's head, and Sadollah backs up.

4:08 Sadollah with a big front kick right into the face, followed with a Superman punch, but Baroni wraps him up and puts him on the cage, Sadollah reverses it, throws some knees, backs off, a few push kicks, Baroni counters with a punch, inside leg kick by Sadollah. He tries for antoher oen, baroni side steps it, wraps up, Sadollah pushes him to the age. Baroni bleeding bad now, 3:10 left in the round. Baroni trying to work some punches from inside, Sadolla with an elbow to counter, knees to the body, Baroni wraps his arms around Sadollah, escapes and lands a few punches to the head. Sadollah with an outside leg kick, combo punches, knees to the inside and has Baroni back on the cage.

2:20 left, Baroni escapes a uppercut from Sadollah as they gets seperation. Sadollah with more front kicks, leg kick DEEP on Baroni, more front kick, jab combos. Baroni tries to time the kicks so he can land some punches, but it's not working. Sadollah charges with a flying knee, back on the cage, Sadollah with the double underhooks, throwing knees whenever he wants, 1:30 left in the fight. Baroni still trying to block, is able to reverse position, throws rabbit punches, Sadolla reverses, knee, knee, Baroni with a punch, Sadolla with a left elbow, 55 seconds left.

Baroni gets a break with an uppercut, Sadolla goes for a body kick and slips, but is right back up. 35 seconds left and Sadollah still going for kicks that connects, Baroni throws punches then drops his hands, Sadollah with more kicks, Baroni keeps dropping his hands. Sadollah puts him on the cage again, knee, elbow, knee, punch, knee knee and the horn sounds!

Baroni's corner tells him he's down, he's got to win it in this last round, "You have to take him out!". Sadollah's corner tells him to keep throwing the knees, "Baroni's accuracy is for shit now!" YA THINK? Round Three starts with Sadollah throwing MORE KICKS! This kid can't get enough! Baroni throwing punches, not connecting, but Sadollah is hitting DEEP shin kicks on Baroni, Baroni is bruised up, bloodied up, Sadollah with the clinch, the knees drives Baroni to the cage, 4:00 left.

Baroni still slugging as best as he can, likmping, Sadollah doesn't back off, lands more kicks to the shin, backs up Baroni to the cage. Baroni uppercuts to get a break, Sadollah keeps going for shin kicks, throng kicks, Superman punch connects, 3:22 left, Baroni is not responding with much. Sadollah puts him on the age with a frotn kick, followed by a left elbow, right jab, left elbow OPENS UP A DEEP CUT ON BARONI'S HEAD! 2:45 left, Sadollah having his way throwing kicks at will, Baroni trying to counter with jabs.

Flying knee from Sadollah puts Baroni back on the cage, Baroni wraps him up, 2:25 left, another break back to the middle of the ring. Sadollah more front kicks, shin kicks, Baroni with a right, Sadollah with a low leg kick. Baroni is looking for a big opening to drop him with a punch but Sadollah is keeping him at distance with the kicks, 1:40 Sadollah with a knee, kick, punches, Baroni buckles, recovers, Sadollah with a pair of body kicks, low leg kick, punch bombos, front kick, Baroni is just eating them, not really fighting back though.

Baroni is fighting for pride at this point, under one minute to go. Sadollah is starting to unload with the knees and kicks, elbows, Baroni is just doing enough to keep him from finishing this. Then again, Sadollah just has to stick around and not open himself up for a punch in the last 30 seconds here. Baroni mounts one last charge with punches, Sadollah kicks him into the cage, Baroni wraps him u, Sadollah escapes and goes for broke throwing knees and elbows from the clinch, ROUND THREE IS OVER!

WINNER: 31-27, 30-27, 29-28 by Unanimous Decision, Amir Sadollah. I now have a lot more respect for Phil Baroni after seeing him fight this one out from the gut, he just didn't have an effective answer for Sadollah's kicks and knees. Sadollah says that this match was huge for him, and he ate a lot of big punches in the face from Baroni. As Rogan leads him through the kicks, Sadollah asks Rogan if he can get a copy of the replay! Luiz "Banha" Cane vs. (11-1-1, 205 lbs.) vs. Antonio Rogerio "Minotouro" Nogueira (17-3-0, 205 lbs.)

Steve Mazzagatti is our referee for this fight, two Brazillian southpaws squaring off here. Cane strikes first with a low shin kick, Nogueira counters with a few punches. A little sparring goes on fir the first minutes, Nogueira lands a pair of big lefts and a inside leg kick, not hurting Cain yet. Cain moves in for a few strieks, Nogueira catches him with a right hand to the side of the head, a big left to the face that stuns him, Nogueira chases him around the ring, nails several more, Nogueira with another big left right into the face, a big overhand right to the side of the head, and Cain goes down like a giant tree, TIIIMMMBBEEERRRRRR!!!

WINNER: Antonio Rogerio Nogueira d. Luiz Cane @ 1:56 of Round One by TKO (Punches). "Little Nog" is successful in his UFC debut. Nog says that he was excited for this debut and loves being in America, and thanks the fans.

Hey! CHUCK LIDDELL! Get off yer Twitter and say hi to the fans, why dontcha? We then plug the current issue of UFC Magazine with UFC Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar on the cover. Mike Goldberg then wishes a speedy recovery to Lesnar, who has promised to be fully recovered and ready to fight within six months. We then replay the Saunders vs. Davis fight from the prelim fights broadcast on SpikeTV.

Jacob "Christmas" Volkmann (9-0-0, 170 lbs.) vs. Paulo Thiago (11-1-0, 170 lbs.)

Volkmann's nickname comes from college because his wrestling teammates thought he looked like the character Lloyd Christmas from the movie Dumb & Dumber. WOW. Interesting. Volkmann practically lays out his entire game plan in the pre-fight interview, we'll see if he can have his way with one of the most underrated fighters in this division, Paulo Thiago, whose full-time job is fighting Brazillian drug dealers. Interesting characters, these two. Referee in charge is Steve Mazzagatti.

Thiago holds the middle of the ring to start this fight, throws a high head kick, Volkmann doesn't seem bothered as he wraps Thiago up and puts him on the cage with a double underhook, throws some punches to the head and body.

One minute gone, Thiago with a nice side sweep into side control right on the cage. Volkmann is able to use the fenc to get half guard and try to work his way up to his feet, Thiago tries to keep him down but no go, Thiago holds ont the side and Volkman just freely punches Thiago in the face a few times. Volkmann is cut open over the nose, just a small cut. Volkmann puts Thiago on the cage, but Thiago takes him down and gets full mount, Volkmann fights his way out of it, scrambles out and backs himself up the cage.

Thiago with elbows and hammerfists to the side of Volkmann's head. 1:30 left and Thiago and Volkmann finally decide to stand up under threat of being stood up. Volkmann tries to take it to the ground, but ends up putting Thiago on the side of the cage. Thiago throws some knees, Volkmann throws some knees and exists with a nice short elbow. 15 seconds left, they're circling the ring, fans are booing for some strange reason.

Thiago tries to score with an uppercut KNOCKS VOLKMANN ON HIS ASS AT THE BELL! WOW! Had that gone on just a few seconds longer it would be all over! We replay, straight right into the face, but Volkmann had his head off the mat, fists up, knees up, ready to defend. Good round, I'd give it to Thiago 10-9, maybe 9.6-9.4 if I could score it by fractions.

Round two starts out with Thiago nailing a BIG right, inside kick and another punch to put Volkmann down on the mat, he pops back up and right intoa Superman punch, gets put on the cage but he recovers and takes down Thiago and falls right into side control, trying to go North-South, Thiago curls up on the back of the cage, trying to mount, Thiago grabs the right leg trying to take him, but VOlkmann gains the back and starts delivering punches around to the face and midsection, scrambles for the back to try to get an arm under the body, Thiago blocking we.., is able to escape and gets to his feet.

3:05 left in the round, Volkmann with the double underhooks, good knees and punches to the face, Thiago fighting for control, Volkmann breaks his grip with a knee, pushes Thiago against the cage. Refere wants them not to hold the gloves and start working (THEY ARE WORKING, STEVE! Let them grapple!), they start throwing some knees, Volkmann with a knee and a left, Thiago tries to take him down, 2:000 left, Volkmann takes his back thoough, grabs and ankle, start punching the side of the head. Volkman trying to secure a good lock, Thiago looking for a leglock, Volkmann tries for a mount but Thiago rolls him over and frees himself, lands a big punch, Volkmann goes into full guard and they struggle for control, 1:00 left.

Thiago throwing some good punches. Referee warning them to start having some action, 35 seconds left. Thiago stands up and grabs a leg, BIG overhand right on Volkmann and he goes right itno side control. Volkmann spins around to get his feet on the cage, Thiago just holds himself there, Volkmann with elbows to the head as the horn sounds. Another close round IMO, I can see this one going either way.

Final round starts fairly calm, both sides going for a few strikes, trying to set up. Volkmann tries first with some combo punches, Thiago tags him and puts him on his back, then tries to throw some big bombs as Volkmann kicks away to block, Thiago moves in for more punches, Volkmann tries for a Triangle but Thiago leaps up and gets side control, then tries for a choke.

Thiago goes for a leg, Volkmann is able to get his back and grabs both of Thiago's legs, hammers away with shots tot he body, Thiago isn't looking affected by it, 3:20 left in the fight. Volkmann looks for a leg sweep, Thiago blocks it and they're back to the stand-up, 3:00 left in the round. Volkmann shoots for a single leg takedown, Thiago stucks it and Volkmann ends up on his back, Thiago grabbing the legs, steps in and stomps right on his gut, referee warns him on it.

Thiago moves in for a punch, Volkmann throws him over, takes mount, Thiago rolls over and gives up his back. Volkmann is throwing punches to the face but again don't look very effective. Volkmann gets side control and more punches to the head, gets control of Thiago's right arm, the left arm, throws down elbows and punches to the face, Thiago is fighting to free himself to no avail, 90 seconds left.

Volkmann gives it up and goes to the back, Thiago slips out and Volkmann is too high on the body, falls right over and lands on his back. Thiago avoids the kicks, throws the legs aside, drops a big right and gains side control. Volkmann is able to wiggle around and WOW, a Darce Choke from the bottom, Thiago is struggling, Volkmann doesn't have the power to finish it and Thiago escapes, side control, Volkmann gets half guard and Thiago punches away at the face, 10 seconds left, more punches and we get the horn! We replay how Volkmann moves into the Darce Choke by suckering Thiago in. Very cool!

WINNER: 29-28, 30-27, 29-27, your winner by Unanimous Decision... PAULO THIAGO! After a brief interview and another UFC 107 promo, we replay the Kendall Grove vs. Jake Rosholt match from earlier on SpikeTV.

Josh Koscheck (15-4-0, 170 lbs.) vs. Anthony "Rumble" Johnson (8-2-0, 170 lbs.)

I swear it's like 20 freaking minutes... can't they speed this thing up? Not that I'm upset really, good matches all night. Mario Yamasaki is our referee as he delivers the instructions for the co-main event.

We're squared up in the middle of the ring, Johnson starts with a few timid punches and icks, Koscheck with a kick of his own, Johnson switches his stance and throws another kick, Koscheck with a punch combo that backs Johnson up a little, he follows up with an inside kick. Johnson takes his time responding with an inside kick of his own as we wind down the firstmkinute. Johnson goes fora head kick that gets blocked. Koscheck sets up for a right, a few smaller punches, a left jab that connects. Johnson is not afraid to counter with a few punch combos.

Goldberg & Rogan know that both of them are strong wrestlers, but have a feeling that this is going to be a stand-up striking contest tonight. Koscheck moves in with a right, ges caught with a right by johnson, Koscheck slips and falls, gets backed up to the cage. Charges out with a takedown attempt, slips, Johnson is on top of him, 2:30 left. Johnson has Koscheck held down, Koscheck has the underhook on the right side, gets to his feet, tries to duck under, Johnson knees him in the head as Koscheck has both knees on the mat, resulting in an illegal strike.

Koscheck falls to his ack holding his eye, referee stops the fight and backs them out. Koscheck looks pretty rocked as he's sitting in his corner. On replay we see the knee come up and connect with Koscheck's arm, which is slammed into his head. Referee gets a fight doctor to look at it. We see Johnson's finger maybe grze the right eye afterward, but Koscheck is squinting out of his left eye.

The fight doctor looks, Koscheck says he has blurry vision. The doctor tells him to stay in his corner, and goes to Yamasaki, tells him that it's his decision, Yamasaki says he's going to give him five minutes to recover. After two minutes, Koscheck decides that he's going to fight on.

We're squaring away in the middle, Koscheck is throwing rights now, 90 seconds left. Johnson throws a kick that is blocked, another kick blocked, front kick blocked. Koscheck goes for a single leg takedown that drives Johnson into the side of the cage, Johnson with arms around the waist to block it, Koscheck is fighting, pulsl him out and takes him down, Koscheck takes the back, has an arm hooked underJohnson, has double underhook and Johnson's right arm pinned.

Johnson frees it, Koscheck is trying to hook his arms, throwing knees to the midsection, 20 seconds left, Koscheck has one hooked, pulls back, is going for it, Johnson rolls around, shakes him loose! Tries to take down Koscheck 10 seconds to go, Koscheck scrambles and we get the horn! WILD FIRST ROUND, I'm giving it to Koscheck.

Round Two starts, Johnson takes control of the center of the octagon, lookingfor a strike opportunity, throwing a few false lefts, connects with an inside kick followed up with a left jab, then a right kick to the thigh. Koscheck now takes the center of the ring, and we're stopping the fight again after Koscheck throws a right hand and accidently pokes Johnson in the eye.

Just a brief stoppage, we're back on, Koscheck connects with a right kick to the head, 4:00 left, Johnson is a little dazed. Koscheck starts throwing lefts and rights, Johnson goes down holding his eye, Koscheck keeps swinging, referee stops the fight. We replay, Johnson swing with a big left, Koscheck ducks it, nails a few body shots, then goes for an overhand left and a finger poke happens.

Referee warns Koscheck to keep his fists closed. We restart with 3:40 left on the clock, they're circling and sparring, Johnson with a left-side head kick, Koscheck blocks it, a brawl is breaking out now, Johnson landing a left hook, Koscheck with a solid punch of his own, staying int he pocket and punching! Koscheck charges and takes down Johnson, Johnson closes the half guard, Koscheck puts him on the cage. 2:40 left, Koscheck throwing elbows to the head, trying to go full mount, Johnson blocks it, 2:15 left, Johnson trying to shove Koscheck out Koscheck goes back to the short elbows to the face.

Koscheck is pressing him up against the cage, taking his time throwing punches. Looks like Koscheck's right elbow is actually bloody, there's blood on the mat, not sure from where. 1:00 left, Koscheck has part of an arm triangle locked in, trying to secure it while Johnson is trying to roll over and out. Koscheck takes the back and eats a reverse elbow from Johnson, then another one. Koscheck is trying to lock in the Rear Naked Choke, 20 seconds left hes got it locked, can Johnson recover NO!! IT IS AALLLL OVER!!!

WINNER: Josh Koscheck d. Anthony Johnson @ 4:47 of Round Two by Submission (Rear Naked Choke). Rogan comments that Koscheck really showed his wrestling tonight. Koscheck says he doesn't have much to say, except "SOMEBODY" (named Dan Hardy) thinks he's the #1 Contender for the Georges Saint Pierre's title, but DEMANDS that Dana White put the two of them together in February to fight it out. "You know it's money! I'm going to go talk more shit on my Twitter, @JoshKoscheck!" See, this is why I love Koscheck. Great fight.

"The Huntington Beach Bad Boy" Tito Ortiz (16-6-1, 204 lbs.) vs. Forrest Griffin (16-6-0, 205 lbs.)

So we show the txt voting results... 60% of fans say that Forrest Griffin will come out with the win. Forrest Griffin comes out to "Chumbawumba" (I get knocked down, but I get up again, you're never gonna keep me down!"). Indeed!

Tito Ortiz comes out waving a flag with the American flag on one side and the Mexican flag on the other. Bruce Buffer with the introductions of the main event of the evening, sponsored by Left 4 Dead 2, he introduces the state officials at ringside, the three judges at ringside, the ringside doctor, and our referee for this main event, Josh Rosenthol, and finally, our two competitors. Rosenthol brings the fighters to the center of the ring for their last instructions - Forrest Griffin, the original The Ultimate Fighter champion and former UFC Light Heayweight Champion, and Tito Ortiz, also a former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion. Our fighters touch gloves and go back to their corners for the bell.

One more tap of the gloves as we get Round One started, both fighters bobbing around, both fighters start throwing strikes. Joe Rogan says that Ortiz told him that he isn't going to go to the ground, he wants a stand-up fight. Goldberg notes that Forrest Griffin's footwork has improved. They throw a few punches, then try out a few kicks. One minute down, Ortiz with an inside leg kick Griffin responds with a few jabs and a right leg kick.

Ortiz shoots at 3:43 and takes down Griffin, Griffin in full guard, Ortiz throwing elbows and punches to the face and could easily open up Griffin's scare tissue on his forehead. Ortiz is trying for side control, Griffin blocks him and has a kimora, but uses it to throw Ortiz off. Ortiz shoots for the leg again 2:47, pushes Griffin up on the cage, Griffin uses the cage to get to his feet. Ortiz grabs the arms now, pushes him against hte cage and throws some knees.

Griffin wraps him up, Ortiz witha free knee to the midsection, but griffin reverses their positions and starts throwing his own knees, then tries for a sweep. Ortiz pushes him off and we're back in the middle of the ring, 1:50 left. Griffin throws a few jabs and a right leg kick. Griffin moves in and throws jabs to the midsection. Ortiz isn't countering much, then throws some strikes, Griffin counter-punches with good crips rights and lefts, leg kick follows. Tito tries for another takedown at 1:07, gets stuffed by Griffin. Griffin with a good leg kick, blocked, then throws a clean right that connects.

They exchange jabs, Ortiz throws a left leg kick to the head, gets blocked, Griffin with a front kick that doesn't connects, left and right punch bombos, inside left leg kick, right leg kick with a right punch to follow, front kick by Griffin, 20 seconds left, Ortiz throws a kick, follows witha punch that ducks, goes for a linch, Tito stuff him and gets a double underhook, Griffin puts him on the cage, throws knees and we get the bell to end the round.

During the rest period Griffin's corner tells him to watch for Ortiz's takedown. Ortiz's corner tells him to watch for Griffin to drop his left hand when he throws the right, and take advanage of it. Ortiz paid attention, 30 seconds into Round Two Ortiz does just that and takes down Griffin, and keeps Griffin from punching rfrom the bottom.

Griffin scrambles and gets back to his feet, 3:30 left in the round, we're back to sprawling, Griffin throwing lots of combos, not much connecting but keeping Ortiz on his toes. Griffin tries for a Superman punch, followed by a front kick to the face that knocks Ortiz's mouthpiece out, we stop the fight at 2:50 for him to recover.

Back to action, Griffin with an inside leg kick and punch combo, Ortiz defends with a left, Griffin with a body kikc, followed by punches, Ortiz counter punches, goes for a takedown and takes him down again, Griffin moves into a butterfly guard. Fans are cheering for Griffin, Ortiz throws a few head shots, but Griffin can also throw shots from the bottom and uses that to get full guard. Ortiz tries to throw a few elbows that occasionally connect, but Griffin is still getting good head shots. Griffin keeps rolling to try to trap an arm, but isn't getting anywhere really.

Griffin is busted open on the corner of his right eye, and he's gushing BAD! Ortiz posures up and starts throwing bombs, fans are cheering hard, but Griffin is able to flip Ortiz over as he tries for half guard, and Griffin is gonna bleed allin his face, throws elbows to the face and punches to the ribs, 10 seconds left, Griffin swinging away, Ortiz trying to defend, gives a thumbs up to let the ref know he's okay. Horn sounds, and there is NO clean separation here, shoving and pushing referee has to break it up.

FINAL ROUND, referee has to seperate both men before the round starts again, gets some control and lets them out it. Griffin comes out punching and kicking, even though his corner told him NO KICKS this round. Griffin connects with a left, 30 second down. Griffin with leg kicks, followed by straight rights. Ortiz is blocking most of them, but gets caught by a left, followed up by combo punches, putting Ortiz on the cage. One minute down, Griffin keeps kicking and pching, Ortiz is staying reseved, occasionally throwing punches. Griffin moves in for strikes and moves right back out of range, Ortiz tries to throw a kick but he can't close it.

Griffin with a right punch and left kick combo, followed by another right hook and a left body punch, and a left kick. 3:10 left, Griffin keeps going for right hand left kick combos. 2:57 Ottiz is trying to time a takedown, but Griffin stuff it and lands some elbows in the process, 2:35 left. Griffin is now openly throwing kicks, punches to the body, backs off, Ortiz is not countering.

2:05 Griffin with a left jab to the face, right hand to the side of the head, left right in the middle of the chest, high kick to the left side of Ortiz's head and Ortiz stumbles! Ortiz is NOT fighting back here, 1:30 left, Griffin with a thrust kick, right jab, left jab from Griffin, another left right jabk, leg kick right jab, now Ortiz is fighting back 1:10 left but is it enough?

Griffin with a right jab to the face, 1:00 in the fight. Griffin with a pair of left leg kicks to the shins, another right hand jab, left right puch, right leg kick, Ortiz goes for a takedown 35 seconds and again gets stuffed. Griffin moves in with the jabs, big right by Griffin, Ortiz tries to clinch, Griffin pulls out, 15 seconds left, leg thrust by Griffin, Ortiz with a few punches that gets ducked, 10 seconds left, they're slugging it out AND THE HORN SOUNDS!

Ortiz and Griffin tap gloves and hug. We show the replays from the round, this was ALL Forrest Griffin this round, and maybe every round. Ortiz looked good, but Griffin looked like IRON! We're going to the judges score cards, from Bruce Buffer: "Ladies and gentlemen, after three rounds we go to the jduges scorecard... 29-28 Ortiz... 30-27 Griffin... and 29-28 for your winner by Split Decision... FORREST GRIFFIN!"

Joe Rogan asks how the victory feels, Griffin says it feels great, he thanks the fans for their support, and that him and Ortiz will have to do it again for a third time, and says that he was fighting with a broken foot. Rogan takes us through the action in the second and third round. Ortiz says that Griffin came in with a lot of heart, and he knows how the injuries go because he had to stop training because of a bulging disc.

The fans start booing Ortiz and he cuts into the crowd HARD, telling them that he also came into this fight with a fracture in his face which caused the black eye he's sporting. Griffin comes over and takes the mic, and tells the fans that injures don't only happen in the ring, when you train as hard as the two of them do, injures will happen in training. That shut the crowd up! Both men congratulate each other for a good fight.

We finish the show with George Sotiropoulos vs. Jason Dent, our first preliminary fight of the evening that wasn't even seen live on SpikeTV.
