"The School of Rap" is a hip-hop songwriting program founded and conducted by Dan-e-o.
From exploring the origin of hip-hop culture to learning the essentials of composing and recording an original song, Dan-e-o's program has been taking youth from across the Greater Toronto Area through this "life of an artist" excursion since 2006.
To date, Dan-e-o's has helped produce nearly 20 CDs through "The School of Rap".
They include Davenport-Perth Neighbourhood Centre's Artistic Effusion series, Art Starts Neighbourhood Cultural Centre's Chocolate City (Glendower), Reckless Royalty (Eglinton West) and Visionists (Oakwood & Vaughan) and Toronto Community Housing's Rebelz (Sparroways), Freedom Of Speech (Teesdale) and most recently Chester! Chester! Read All About It! (Chester Le).
"The School of Rap" is offered as both/either a weekly workshop and/or a one time school assembly. For more information, e-mail theschoolofrap@gmail.com.

How in the hell can you teach someone to flow.....either you have it or you don't.
Good question...
Some people don't realize they have it until they learn how to use it.
I once taught a woman in her 60s how to transform her poetry into raps.
I've also taught shy ten year olds how to formulate their ideas into rhymes and put them to a beat.
This doesn't mean they're gonna become professionals. But they have learned how to do something they didn't realize they could before.
It then inspires others in their communities to do the same.
The program is very successful as a result.
