Word is that Booker T will be heading back to WWE. For some reason this really makes me happy. This isn’t like when Christian came back. I like Christian fine but I have loved Booker for years.
From his time in Harlem Heat, his battles with Benoit, Bret Hart, and his jump to WWE. This guy has always found a way to entertain me no matter how he behaved. As a thug, a king from somewhere in Africa, or a combination or both. It never mattered.
Back when I was a little O-Ster, my brother was big on Harlem Heat. I wasn’t. I didn’t understand why Stevie Ray wouldn’t get rid of his chicken shit brother and go solo. I mean, I saw that Booker was athletic and could make the crowd hate him. It wasn’t until the team split that I began to appreciate him. Dude could wrestle. And more importantly, and this is something I believe people overlook, he looked like he enjoyed it!
I know that sounds crazy but its true. Watch any match pre-TNA with Booker T and tell me this guy wasn’t having fun. Even when I use him in a videogame I make the same sounds he does when he wrestles. And he can play a crowd like a fiddle. Remember when he wouldn’t give people the Spinarooni? He’d hold up his hand, look at it, drop to one knee, and then stop. Boos all around! Man, Booker rules.
I honestly don’t think he’s gotten the recognition that he deserves as an entertainer or a wrestler. When he became King Booker, I thought he was done. How can this guy that has always played thug all of a sudden pretend he’s royalty? How could I have doubted him?
Not only did he pull it off, he made it more entertaining than it had any right to be. His change of entrance music. Having his wife, his queen, Sharmelle, bow to him as he struck his pose with the pinky finger in the air. His new accent. It has worked perfectly for him.
Now the word on the internet is that he refused to job to Matt Morgan. Some are upset, saying that TNA is about the young up and coming wrestlers. Let’s cut the bullshit, okay? TNA hasn’t been about the future for years. That was the main complaint when Jarrett was running the show. Should Booker have laid down for Morgan? No. Let Steiner do it. Booker is in what TNA calls the Main Event Mafia.
Plus, the way the storylines have been booked Morgan gets nothing from beating Booker. Booker hasn’t been treated as a main eventer since he first arrived in TNA. Let Angle put Morgan over. Or Sting. But Booker?
Tell me you didn’t just say that.

So Booker refused to job to Matt Morgan. Hmm...
Next week on Tha O Show:
Donnie goes off on how much he thinks Booker T should be called Booker Knee. He'll question if Booker's related in any way to Bret Hart, and admit that he always secretly thought the King Booker gimmick sucked. And when Dan tries to defend Booker, Donnie will call him a pole-smoking faggot and insinuate that Dan hates wrestling and Matt Morgan.
All seriousness aside, I'm not entirely sure why you're so excited about Booker returning. He's not going to get title runs thrown his way, even if he gets put on "SmackDown!". He'll be booked as merely an afterthought or in the midcard and continue to be misused like he was during the majority of his WWE run. He's not much better off going back to WWE. He doesn't need the money, and he probably won't get the push he deserves.
This is the selfish mark in me responding. I dont care about belts (since they mean nothing anymore). I just want to see him on a program that I actually watch sometimes. Whatever show he goes to I will watch because of him for the same reason I watch Raw because of Orton.
And seeing as how the midcard is the best part of the show, why is that so bad anymore? How many "main event" storylines are compelling right now? And the day of the push is dead to me. I just want to be entertained and that's what Booker does for me. Just not in TNA.
