WWE Tidbits

WWE's 2009 Annual Shareholders Meeting was held on Friday. Vince McMahon took questions during the meeting and revealed these among other things.

* WWE isn't interested in going into MMA.
* Vince would like a Wednesday night WWE show add believes that more WWE shows would make it easier for fans to follow the storylines.
* WWE may cancel its May tour of Mexico due to the swine flu, but already has another Mexico tour for October.

* Vince blamed the drop in PPV buys on more fans getting together and watching PPVs together than ordering them individually.
* Vince said that holding a WrestleMania overseas would be tough because it would have to air live in North America.

Batista is featured on WWE's Great American Bash poster. Apparently he will be accompanying Manny Pacquiao to the ring for his big fight tonight. While I won't have live internet access at the bar during the PPV, I will be tweeting some comments round by round if you're interested. If you want some expert analysis of the fight please check out our friend GG's FGB Podcast with Tim Starks from Queensbury Rules.

The following matches have been announced for the WWE Judgment Day PPV.

* ECW Title Match: Christian {C} vs. Jack Swagger
* WWE Title Match: Randy Orton {C} vs. Batista
* World Title Match: Edge {C} vs. Jeff Hardy

WWE recently released Superstar Billy Graham from a consultation contract, and WrestlingFigs.com got a scan of Graham's actual release.

"WWE Superstars" on Thursday did another 0.9 rating. I'm honestly surprised it has stayed that high.

A video clip of The View's Sherri Shepherd appearing on "Smackdown!" with MVP is up, and BlackVoice.com has an article up on Sherri Shepherd's appearance on the show.

SlashFilm has a behind-the-scenes clip from The Expendables up where Steve Austin and Eric Roberts jump away from an explosion.

The Playboy Buddy Rose website just posted an official statement on his passing. Here's a brief excerpt.

Buddy's widow, Tammy, wanted you all to know how much she has appreciated the outpouring of affection and support she has received these past few days. It has been an overwhelming time, as you might imagine. Buddy and Tammy were together for 34 years, and married for 19.

Tammy told me, "My life with him was always full of laughs... and anybody who ever met him will tell you of all the laughter Buddy brought to their lives, as well." He had his aches and pains, from years in the wrestling business, and slowed down considerably in his later years, but Buddy still managed to find the humor in things and found a lot of joy in this world.

Buddy told Tammy not long before his death, "When it's my time, remember I lived a good life. No regrets. I saw the world, and did everything I wanted to."

Incidentally one listener to the AngryMarks Podcast noted that I misspoke when I said that Rose had helped the Midnight Rockers (Shawn Michaels and Marty Janetty) train at his wrestling school in Portland. I believe Killa Kev corrected me when he said Rose worked with them in AWA, but just in case this wasn't clear I wanted to apologize for any confusion.

Rose did have a school in Portland with Col. DeBeers, but his "training" with the Rockers was actually during their mutual time wrestling in AWA. You learn more on the road working guys every night than you do at wrestling school anyway.

Tickets for WWE's Extreme Rules PPV in June go on sale today.

WWE's upcoming DVD release on the Allied Powers tag team will be 3 discs.

Last but not least CCP's lawsuit against WWE over the use of the name Gangrel has been dismissed with prejudice, meaning each side will have to pay their own court costs, also making it unlikely that CCP will try to pursue the case again. CCP claimed that they owned the rights to the name Gangrel and WWE used it without permission for one of their characters.

The court had previously warned CCP that they were overdue in pursuing the case and that since nothing had advanced in six months, they were to show cause as to why the case needed to continue or risk it being thrown out. CCP failed to follow up, so the case was dismissed. The court also found that CCP was not utilizing their trademark of Gangrel and failed to prove that the character Gangrel was even in any of their games.

Oops I Meant, What happened to the shades of gray...not shades of gay...

Both SHADE OF GAY and shades of gray are on hiatus, I guess. I'm sure it'll return at some point, but right now, I'm really not watching enough wrestling to cover several topics. So instead, I'll concentrate on articles with a specific topic -- either a TV recap (such as the TNA recaps I did a few weeks ago) or other things. Speaking of which, look out for an article later today on Tha O Show about some of the younger wrestlers who the WWE will depend upon in the future.

Thanks for the interest (and not so much for the typo).
