WWE Supplemental Draft Results

Wednesday on WWE.com, 24 supplemental picks were added to the 12 draft picks that were made on “Raw.” Some interesting moves were made - some good, most very puzzling.

At the start of the draft, it appeared as if the tag team division may have been done for good in the WWE. The newly-crowned Unified Tag Team Champions were seemingly split up, with Primo being drafted to “Raw.” Thankfully, some 2 and half hours later, Carlito finally joined his brother by being drafted to “Raw” as well. In addition, early on in the draft, Shad was drafted to “SmackDown” – but with one of the final picks, JTG followed him to Friday nights.

However, perhaps the best WWE team was split up Monday night: Miz and Morrison. And on Wednesday afternoon, a few remaining tag teams were indeed split apart: Jesse and Festus, Ryder and Hawkins, and The Brian Kendrick and Ezekiel Jackson. Even Finlay and Hornswoggle were split up!

In other tag team-related news (and perhaps the best news coming from the draft), D.H. Smith and Natalya were drafted to “ECW,” where they will presumably (finally!) form a new version of the Hart Foundation with Tyson Kidd.

In all, I think it’s safe to say that the tag team situation in the fed is confusing (to say the least). Why draft Cryme Tyme to “SmackDown” where there isn’t even a tag team championship to fight for? Same with the Hart Foundation on “ECW” (assuming Kidd and Smith are put together). Perhaps the Colons will be able to defend the belts on all shows – but then why waste two supplemental draft picks in sending them to “Raw”? So confusing.

Some of the most memorable Superstars of the 1980s were tag teams: the British Bulldogs, Hart Foundation, and Demolition, to name a few. The last boom period of WWE tag teams was nearly 10 years ago, with such teams as the Hardys, Dudleys, Edge and Christian, APA, Too Cool, and others, making significant contributions to WWE programming.

But for years now -- with a few exceptions -- the tag belts have been ignored, or used in attempts to get more important angles over. (See: MVP and Matt Hardy, John Cena and Batista).

Tag team wrestling always has, and always will, have an important role to play in professional wrestling. But the WWE tag team division will need a lot of help recovering if it’s to hit another boom period anytime soon.

Other thoughts on the Draft . . .

- If I am MVP, Matt Hardy, or Mr. Kennedy right now, I’m worried about working under the likes of Triple H, Randy Orton, Shawn Michaels, and Batista on “Raw.” Sure, the house show payouts will likely be bigger travelling with the star-studded “Raw” brand – but MVP, Kennedy, and especially Hardy had the chance to become upper mid-card/ main eventers on “SmackDown.” I think it’s only a matter of time before they’re lost in the shuffle on “Raw.” Same goes for the Big Show – I would have liked to see him stay on “SmackDown.”

The opposite is true for CM Punk, Chris Jericho, Rey Mysterio, and Mike Knox. Although they all had nice roles on “Raw,” I think they’ll get an even greater opportunity on Friday nights.

- Catching about the last hour of the draft live on WWE.com, I got the impression that they were making up the picks as they went along. At one point, the host said there were 5 picks left. But then 2 picks later, he said there were 4 picks left to go, sneaking in another pick. Also, as I mentioned above, several teams were split up only to be put back together, including the Colons, Bella twins, and Cryme Tyme. It’s as if they made the draft picks, realized how stupid it was to be splitting up the teams, and then added picks to put them back together.

I have no doubt these picks were decided upon on hours (or less) before they became public. Hell, the wrestlers themselves were finding out only seconds before they were announced on “Raw.” Melina even cried during the commercial break after it was announced she was drafted the “SmackDown”!

- None of this matters too much, I guess. You know it won’t be long before everyone wrestles on every brand anyways, without explanation. And if you’ve checked out the “SmackDown” spoilers for this week, you know that Friday's show is petty much a big "FUCK YOU" to anyone who watched, and cared about, Monday's Draft.

Biggest pick for me was Hurricane going to ECW. Did he re-injure himself?

Second I guess John Morrison going to Smackdown. He's held the title there, time to move on.

I think the Hornswoggle craze has ran it's course and WWE will be wishing him the best in his future endeavors. Hopefully Festus just destroys him and makes the kids cry.

Or maybe they'll pair them up

I guess now things are set-up for the Colons to feud with and eventually lose the belts to "Priceless".

"Dan-e-o's Top 5 reasons that the draft was KNEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE"

Hopefully this will be installment 2 in what becomes an annual segment.

Smackdown got RAPE-a-laz with the exception of John Morrison who at this point only has potentia-laz as a singles star. Let's hope he gets put over in some entertaining matches against Punk and Jericho until WWE wakes up and realizes they need more main event guys on SmackDown and start ignoring there was a draft when they let guys jump ship. And fuck you Ozzz-car da Juicer Joker, you're not a main eventer (and I love lucha libre, so a double fuck you to the whiner who does the 619er)

Are we FINALLY going to get Hart Foundation V.2 on ECW? A Kozlov vs. Swagger fued has major potentia-laz, Why not give the tough-as-nails guy with the hockey-player-name your 5th most important singles title?

Smackdown looks like it got raped but let's be honest, they might not have a network to call there own in a few months.

D. Ross: Good to know you had that experience.

The Fed doesn't give 2 shits about the Tag Team Divisions because they are not about WRESTLING,they are about ENTERTAINMENT! That's why the lack of selling is so high among the workers and the total lack of ring psychology. It's all just a big ole Saturday Morning Cartoon for Vince and his clan. They throw you the occasional bone, but all in all they could care less about the business, they want to turn it into something bigger than wrestling and THAT is a fucking shame.

Natayle, Tyson Kidd and DH Smith on ECW, we have the new heart Foundation. This should be the best thing onECW for a while.

Damn you, Evitman. It didn't happen to me. It was some other D. Ross.

They did more switches and still this is gonna be strange. It makes no sense that guys are still going to be on other shows. None! This is the first week after the draft (not even a week) and guys are already on other shows. I swear i thought HHH was always on Raw.
