This Is How We Do It - Week 3

Another week another ROH recap. I think I got the long end of the straw by getting this show and nothing that has to do with WWE or TNA. This week we get to see Bryan Danielson whip some ass and I am looking forward to it. I really like this dude. I believe everything he does in that ring. Let me stop stroking him for a moment and get to the show.

The first match is Sterling James Keenan whom I’ve never seen versus Erick Stevens. I have seen Stevens before and he moves pretty damn well for a big dude. I like his intensity. He has a wicked ass clothesline and power slams. This match is back and forth with fans hating Keenan.

I am gonna have to look him up and find out why. All I know about him is that there was a photo of him Kingdom’s site. Some high impact moves followed by a picture perfect Doctor Bomb to end this. Jack Swagger should watch a tape of this and see how its supposed to be done. Good opener for the show.

The next match was Cheech and Cloudy versus these two big, Black mofos calling themselves Dark City Fight Club. These guys are right up Black Prophet’s alley. This was a total squash match. The kind that I miss. Their finisher made me “O!” all over my living room. That shit looked painful. A combination neck breaker flapjack. It was awesome. God, I love tag team wrestling! Wasn’t it cool how The Colons and Miz and Morrison fought to unify the tag belts at WrestleMania 25?! Oh, that’s right…

Next is Necro Butcher versus Chris Hero. I love Hero. He shows up in draws and a Necro-like beard. This guy is so damned hateable. I know that isn’t a real word. I also know that Butcher isn’t the best wrestler in the world and a straight up match like this exposed him a bit. The crowd loved him though. They even consoled him when he was outside the ring. Has that movie The Wrestler made him more sympathetic?

Hero levels him with multiple elbows and a beautiful Blockbuster. Sara Del Rey and Larry Sweeney are at ringside for this match and interfere whenever they can. Have I mentioned how hot Del Rey is? Hero wins with a loaded elbow. I miss loaded shit. Boots, kneepads, gloves. I better be quiet before TNA brings back the Coal Miner’s Glove match. They peppered the match with “Fuck you, Hero!” chants. Stay classy, ROH.

The main event is Austin “Don’t Call Me ‘Starr’” Aries versus Bryan Danielson. Lots of knees. Lots of elbows. Lots of submission attempts. Let me explain something about submissions holds. They hurt. If you are having your arm twisted, or your leg cranked, you should do anything possible to get to a rope or tap. In WWE or TNA guys can be in an ankle hold for two minutes, not tapping. Scream or something! When Aries was caught in a hold he would scramble to the ropes.

Oh, I gotta say that I loved the knees to the head by Danielson to Aries head to stop the brain buster. I was waiting for The Cattle Mutilation to end the match but it never came. A modified armbar beat Aries. The crowd didn’t get their wish as they chanted at the beginning of the match “You’re Gonna Get Your Fucking Head Kicked In!”

I am so glad I can watch this show. After hearing everyone bitch and moan about how
shit TNA is weekly and how bad WrestleMania was I got to sit here and watch a good, solid hour of wrestling. If any of you haven’t caught ROH on HDNet yet, look for it. Or I can post a link after this is up. Later.

yo man! Love the roh show. The main event was great. their kinda introducing everyone now. it'll be great to see the bigger stars lock up once everyone is established. or maybe they'll do like the old nwa shows and save the bigger matches for the ppv's. thanks for the report every week. you're greatly appreciated! j rock

Thanks, J! It feels cool to be able to not only get to see a good hour of wrestling weekly but write about it and have people enjoy it. I swear, I never got why people didn't step up and send in articles when they complained about shows not being covered.

ROH is a good product and I only want for it to get better. Not copy other companies with fireworks and long interviews. Its the small things that count. Like to 20 second count outside of the ring. If anyone doubts its importance next time you watch another show count how long guys fight on the floor.
