Thing Of Honor - Week 6

It's that time of the week. ROH on HDNet! I am excited. After the way last weeks show opened up I am wondering how this one will go. The show opens with a recap of last week and previews the main event with Bryan Danielson vs. Tyler Black. That should be an awesome ass match. The first match up is a tag match.

Grizzly Redwood (I cant make this stuff up) and Andy “Right Leg” Ridge. Damn, Redwood is seriously tiny. They are facing Dark City Fight Club. These big ass mofos are gonna hurt somebody. I saw these guys a couple of times now and they are good. They shake and we begin. Ridge is starting off against Davis. Davis is manhandling this poor kid. Bodyslam and a tag to Corey.

Shit! A crazy hard avalanche followed by a high butterfly suplex. These dudes are just a hard ass fighting team. A tilt a while/cutter lays Ridge out. Here comes Grizzly. He goes for an arm drag but it gets reversed to a slam. The crowd chants for Grizzly to no avail.

A delayed vertical suplex knocks him out. Cheap shot to Ridge sends him to the guardrail. Grizzly Hulks up and gets Pounced across the ring. DCFC are just laying these guys out. Double spinebuster followed by a split legged slam/neck breaker ends this one mercifully. These guys are a good manager away from the next level.

Kyle Durden is in the back with an interview with Danielson. He pretty much says he’s beaten everyone already and that Tyler Black is an incredible athlete but that athletes come and go. Ooh...

Nigel McGuiness is already in the ring with a mike. He’s is complaining that he doesn’t have the respect of us wankers. He pretty much just lays into the fans. His arm is pretty bandaged. He’s facing Alex “Sugarfoot” Payne. The crowd is booing the hell out of him. Sugarfoot starts off with a couple of dropkicks. Nigel reverses with head butts but is caught in the corner.

Sugarfoot comes back with a crossbody for two. Nigel kicks the shit out of Sugarfoot’s back and clotheslines him. Nigel with a one armed overhead toss. The crowd starts chanting “Sugarfoot!” Nigel is just taking this kid to school. “Crowd chanting “Nigel fuck you!” Nigel has been working the hell out of this kids arm. Nigel rakes the eyes while twisting the arm. Sugarfoot with a roll up for two. Nigel kills him with a lariat! Tower of London and we are done. Damn.

Kyle Durden is speaking with Tyler Black. He reminds me of Johnny Morrison. Tyler says that Danielson is the best wrestler in the world. Black says he will prove that he has what it takes to hang with the best in the world. We’ll see.

Next is Eddie Edwards and Chris Hero (with Larry Sweeney). Yes, Sara Del Rey is coming out with them! The thighs on this woman should be banned. I need to stop before I spend the next paragraph talking about them. They are facing Jay Briscoe and Kevin Steen. Man, these guys are ghetto. I love that ROH is having so many tag team matches. I don’t care what some may believe, tag teams are a very important part of wrestling. Hero and Edwards attack early.

No handshake obviously. Cameraman almost gets taken out by Briscoe and Hero. Steen nails Edwards with a clothesline. Pounds him in the corner. A “Sweet N’ Sour…sucks!” chant from the crowd. Steen with a cheap shot on Hero. “Fuck Chris Hero!” chants. Classy. Briscoe gets tagged and starts beating the shit out of Edwards. Steen and Hero now in trading forearms. Briscoe nailing Hero as the “Man up!” chants start. A nice dropkick by Briscoe to Hero. Sweeney grabs Briscoe’s foot so Hero can capitalize. Jay Briscoe comes out to help with his bum ass knee. Hero and Edwards taking out Briscoe for a two count.

Briscoe fights for the tag but cant get it. Hero in with a cravate on Briscoe. It gets broken just for Briscoe to walk into a roaring elbow. There is not enough Del Rey in this match. For some reason “Ole!” chants are started. Briscoe finally tags in Steen. Overhead suplex to Edwards. Hero gets tossed into Edwards. A cannonball in the corner by Steen and a moonsault connects.

Hero kicks out. That was nice. Package piledriver blocked by Hero. Rolling elbow connects on Steen for a two. A flying dropkick, a lungblower, and a elbow to the back of the head doesn’t stop Steen. Briscoe is still on the outside. Steen being chopped and elbowed. Steen with a spine buster and Sharpshooter on Edwards. Sweeney breaks it up for Edwards to connect with a sidekick. Package piledriver on Edwards for the win. Jesus, that was a lot of action. Del Rey and her ass check on Hero.

Next up is the main event. Bryan Danielson vs. Tyler Black. Black has started to grow on me. I mean, come on. His finisher is called God’s Last Gift. He gets the streamers as he enters the ring. I miss Danielson’s old music. Danielson gets more streamers. A handshake starts this one. “You’re gonna get your fucking head kicked in!” chant. Black with an arm drag. Ooh, a test of strength. A bridge out of a pin by Danielson. Black rides him down.

A monkey flip by Danielson that Black lands on his feet from. Damn, this kid is smooth. Danielson with a leg grapevine on Black. He kicks him in the knee for some added “fuck you.” Black reverses until a rope break. They stare each other down. Black slams Danielson and gets cocky with his foot on his chest. Droptoe hold into a surfboard by Danielson. Damn, that looks like it hurts. Danielson mocks Black making him chase him around the ring. Uh oh. An elbow pisses Black off. Now they are gonna go at it.

A dirty shoulder rush by Black at the ropes by Black followed by a hard headscissor. Black with a hard foot to Danielson’s jaw. Less is really more sometimes. Look at how Orton’s simple ass kick to the head is. No need to dive across the ring while on fire. Some European uppercuts by Bryan takes down Black. Another surfboard. He switches it up by grabbing the nose and then the arms. Ow! He switches it to a fucking floating dragon sleeper! My God!

He then rolls back to a modified sleeper. Danielson is amazing. The crowd starts chanting for Black. After a two count a modified ankle lock. This fool has way too many ways to hurt people. Here we go with a chop fest/European uppercut fest. A roll up by Black for a two only to get uppercutted. Danielson is doing a good job of keeping Black on the ground. Not once has he gone to the top rope. Shit! A pimp slap from hell to Black! And then two more. Black back bodydrops Danielson. Danielson to the outside with a suicide dive!

The crowd cheers. Its mixed. They like Black too much for this to be 100%. Danielson with a missile dropkick that gets countered with a dropkick from the mat by Black. An enzuguri stuns Bryan. Huracanrana for a two. Multiple big boots miss until Black connects with a dropkick sending Danielson out of the ring. A rope flip takes Danielson out. A flying clothesline for two by Black. Bryan is getting angry. God’s Last Gift blocked. Back flip off the top by Bryan.

A Pele Kick blocked and reversed to an ankle lock. Danielson holds it and kicks Black in the head until a rope break. German suplex reversed to a huracanrana for two by Black. Superkick blocked and reversed to an ankle lock again by Danielson. Black is pulled from the ropes. A German suplex is bridged for two. Damn. My fingers are getting sore! Danielson slaps Black while he’s on the mat. Bryan with Black on the top rope for a belly to back superplex that gets reversed to a cross body. He lands on Danielson’s face!

Forearm shots traded until Bryan wins. A roll up and a bionic kick from the ground by Black followed by a Paroxysm. One minute remaining annoncement. Phoenix splash misses. Time for the Googooplata! 30 seconds remaining! Black lifts it to a power bomb to the turnbuckle! Shit! Bell rings and the fans boo. it’s a draw. Why get mad? That was fucking cool. You never see time limit draws. “Five more minutes!” chant. Please. These guys are spent. They shake hands after the match as Danielson raises Black’s hand.

Preview for next week has Flair appearing and Roderick Strong vs. Austin Aries. That’s gonna be a hard hitting ass match. This week’s show was probably the best so far. I love that this gets better each week. See you all in seven days!
