Tha O Show's WrestleMania 25 Predictions

Tha O Show’s Andrew Gray, D.J.B., Christopher Casur and Dan-e-o deliver you a MEGA-sized WrestleMania preview, as we answer all the burning questions heading into the year’s must-see wrestling event.

Will Randy Orton become the new WWE champion? Will Undertaker’s undefeated streak finally come to an end? And what role will Mickey Rourke play in the Chris Jericho-Legends match?

You want the answers? Then click that muhfuggin’ link!

WWE Championship: Triple H vs. Randy Orton

Andrew Gray says: A month or so ago, I talked about Triple H’s WWE legacy, concluding that he’ll probably be considered one of the top 10 WWE Superstars of all-time. Of course, I was just tossing around the idea for fun – Triple H isn’t retiring anytime soon. And he won’t be passing the torch to Randy Orton on Sunday.

I think Orton should get the strap, because he’s the hottest heel in the business, and a long reign would cement his status. However, I really don’t think this feud can continue past WrestleMania. At this point, what can Orton do to antagonize Triple H any further than he already has? Murder Stephanie? Steal Triple H and Stephanie’s baby?

So the babyface has to go over . . . right? Plus, Vince likes happy endings (don’t we all?) to end his big shows, and I anticipate this will be the final match on the card.

As far as the match itself goes, I think it’ll be a good one, and could challenge Taker-HBK for match of the night. Orton is hitting his prime, and Triple H has always been a good worker.

Winner: Triple H

D.J.B. says: Build up has been amazing. In the ring both guys are amazing. I don't think there is any reason this shouldn't be match of the night. I don't think Legacy should get involved, and I don't think this will end like it should either. Randy Orton should walk out of Mania as the WWE Champion, but honestly I just don't see it happening. Unless, Vince, Shane, or Stephanie (what I think should happen) turn on Triple H to side with Orton Triple H will Pedigree yet another more than deserving and capable opponent into the mat for the 1-2-3.

Winner: Triple H

Christopher Casur says: You thought Undertaker going 17-0 was a lock? I got your lock right here. Bet the freaking house on Orton. He's the red hot heel, he's heading the best stable in WWE since Evolution, and besides, with Edge retaining, one of the championships has to go over to "Raw". Orton all the way, and if he doesn't win, then WWE dropped the freaking ball.

Winner: Randy Orton

Dan-e-o says: With the exception of Randy Orton's stupid-ass actor of a wife and the fact that logically Triple H and the McMahon shouldn't get along, this feud has been a great display of genuine heat. Orton going over would seem to have everyone's interests at heart. Randy would get the title that his on-screen work, as of late, shows he deserves. And Triple H would be another title reign closer to beating Flair's 16-time record. Bitch ass muhfuggah!

Winner: Randy Orton

World Heavyweight Championship: Edge vs. John Cena vs. Big Show

Andrew Gray says: I’ve gone back-and-forth on this one for a few weeks, trying to choose between Edge and Cena. Could they get away with having both world champs retain at Mania? I’m not sure, but I think they’re going to try.

I think Triple H will return to “Raw” in the Draft, which, according to my previous prediction, means that “SmackDown!” needs a champ too. And Cena’s not going to be drafted to the Friday night show.

As for the match – it has cluster potential written all over it. Triple threat matches always have that potential, and this match even moreso because Cena and Show are involved. It’ll take Edge working his ass off, a well-choreographed plan for this match to be successful.

Winner: Edge

D.J.B. says: Honest to God I have no idea what I should expect here. On one hand I'm thinking Edge needs this win, and Edge and Vickie will get together and make sure Edge stays Uber-Heel, because honestly, Edge doesn't need a face run, ever. I also expect Big Show and Vickie to get together and just be really, really nasty, and Show to get at least one more run out of the belt, but then again, as WWE style goes, one of those will happen, but neither man will win. If you listen to or listened to Opie and Anthony last week you know what I'm talking about. Cena head hugs someone into submission.

Winner: John Cena

Christopher Casur says: I've said it before, I'll say it again. Big Show should not have been in this feud if the intent was not to put the title around his waist. I still don't think that's their plan. Rather, I think that Big Show is merely in this match to protect Cena by being the guy who eats the pin. If there is a god (excluding Gods who are defending championships against undersized Mexican gasbags), Edge retains.

Winner: Edge

Dan-e-o says: On this week's episode of Tha O Show, I selected John Cena to go over in this match simply because I know the E will find some way to ruin my night. That being said, if Cena and Orton are champs on the same show, one of them will certainly be "drafted" shortly. Thing is, I can't picture either of these guys going back over to "SmackDown!". Hey, maybe my homeboy will pull it off. Triple threat matches are always great breeding grounds for a cheapshit win. And Edge is the king of those.

Winner: Edge

Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels

Andrew Gray says: This streak will never be broken. If it were to happen, a younger worker should get the rub. Then again, I thought the same thing with Ric Flair’s retirement last year too. Regardless, Undertaker wins in what should be the match of the night.

Winner: Undertaker

D.J.B. says: This match will be off the charts great. The buildup has been off the charts great. If this match goes typical WWE fashion the sheer mention of "you've never beaten me" means that "You're going to beat me this time Jack!" So I think that's about all she wrote for this one. Plus Michaels is Mr. WrestleMania, and last year he retired Ric Flair, and he can't make history like that two years in a row, he's too old, and his time at the top of the card has passed (at least in that sense) so I just don't see Michaels dropping the elbow followed by a SCM for the 1-2-3.

Winner: Undertaker

Christopher Casur says: This WrestleMania card is probably the most solid card since WrestleMania XIX. However, out of all the matches, this one will steal the show. It's been 11 years since Undertaker and Shawn Michaels have faced each other one-on-one. Their one-on-one matches in late 1997 and early 1998 were incredible. And both men have gotten even better since then. Let that rattle around in your head for a little bit, then decide if I'm exaggerating or not.

Michaels was the guy who ended Ric Flair's career, so I wouldn't be surprised if he was the guy who also ended Undertaker's WrestleMania streak. But I don't think that's the way they'll go. When Michaels mentioned "You've never beaten me", that clinched it for me. Undertaker's going over.

Winner: Undertaker

Dan-e-o says: My prediction remains the same as it is every year. Chalk another win for the Deadman. Unlike years of past though, this match should still be among the most compelling on the card. HBK and Taker are two of the Fed's top veterans and greatest superstars ever. This will be a barnburner that I'm looking forward to as potential match of the night. The streak, however, must continue.

Winner: The Undertaker

Jeff Hardy vs. Matt Hardy

Andrew Gray says: Jeff will get the win on this, the biggest stage. Ordinarily, I think the heel would get the win to continue the feud, but I get a feeling that WWE may scrap this feud, and before too long, try to pretend it never happened. It was a bad idea to begin with – marks don’t want to see these two fight each other. It’s still real to me, dammit!

Remember the Kevin Nash vs. Scott Hall feud in WCW? You probably don’t. But one of the reasons it didn’t work was because no one believed these 2 guys -- best friends -- hated each other. Ditto for Jeff and Matt.

Winner: Jeff Hardy

D.J.B. says: There are many many things I could say about this match, but I think this one is better left as simple as possible.

Winner: Jeff Hardy (in memory of Jack)

Christopher Casur says: Matt should go over in this match. If he does, Jeff isn't hurt at all, but you've instantly propelled Matt into the main event. Forget that he "beat up his brother". No, he defeated a former WWE champion at WrestleMania.

Unfortunately, I'm still going to have to put my money on Jeff Hardy. He's the rod hot babyface out for revenge, and he'll get a massive pop after winning.

Winner: Jeff Hardy

Dan-e-o says: Unlike the Orton and HHH feud, this one lacks the appropriate amount of "legit" heat. If my brother burned my muhfuggin' house down, best believe I'd be hotter than Jeff is on TV these days. Matt is holding down his end of the bargain decently, but sadly this match isn't as high on the hype-alaz chart as it should be. Considering, however, that it is Extreme Rules and these two brothers should be able to pull off an O-worthy performance, I still anticipate an entertaining match. Babyface wins for sure though.

Winner: Jeff Hardy

Elimination Match: Chris Jericho vs. Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat, Roddy “Rowdy” Piper, and Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka

Andrew Gray says: I m going with the Legends. Maybe Jericho will look like a chump for losing to geezers, but then again, it’s 3-on-1. And really, with the way I see it going down, it’ll be 5-on-1.

I see Jericho eliminating Snuka and Piper, in that order. Then Jericho will try to cheat in some way; Flair will stop it; and Steamboat will get the roll-up pin. Icing on the cake: Flair invites Mickey Rourke into the ring to hit the “Ram Jam.” How’s that for a detailed predict-alaz?

Winners: Legends

D.J.B. says: Well, if this hasn't been leaked over the internet too much, and Vince flipped and changed his mind the finish will involve Mickey Rourke knocking Jericho out. See that's going to happen, but I have a sneaky feeling that it will happen post-match after Jericho gets the W.

Winner: Chris Jericho

Christopher Casur says: There are very few situations where I feel a three-on-one handicap match is worth doing, much less spending time building up to. I get that this idea was only hatched after multiple other plans fell through, and to WWE's credit, they're tried very hard to put something together after having said plans fall through. There's no need to have Jericho get pushed into the main event picture on any show, and WrestleMania is bound to have a few "give the fans what they want" moments, so I say the Legends go over in a near squash.

Winner: Steamboat, Snuka, Piper

Dan-e-o says: I can't imagine the 2008 Superstar of the Year laying down to the "Old School Is Cool" crew. Although, of course, a Jericho loss would be somewhat of a "feel good story" for WrestleMania 25. It can be argued that Jericho losing this match won't "hurt" his character, but honestly, he SHOULD be able to win and for his star to rise in '09, he SHOULD win. That being said, it is likely that the Legends will have their way with him when it's all said and done. But Chris is going over. I rarely bet against Canadians.

Winner: Chris Jericho

Money in the Bank Ladder Match

Andrew Gray says: This match is really up in the air (literally and figuratively), because there’s no one that stands out as a definite World title contender. Sure, I think Christian fits the bill, but apparently Vince McMahon doesn’t.

I have a feeling that Kofi Kingston will get a chance. WWE hasn’t developed a younger star since . . . Randy Orton? So I’m going with the upset.

Winner: Kofi Kingston

D.J.B. says: The action will be great, as a matter of fact I have a feeling that this money in the bank will feature more high spots than any of the previous ones. Only because Kane, Mark Henry and Finlay are in the match and aren't known for their flippy-dip ability, the rest of the guys will do something, maybe just one huge spot to make up for it. I fully expect Mr. O to go to Shelton Benjamin, and I fully expect him to finally get his shot.

Winner: Shelton Benjamin

Christopher Casur says: I've spent so much time in reviews talking about this match, so I won't go into much detail here. Lot of potential to build a new star in this match, you could argue that for several of the workers. I think Kofi is the guy, though.

Winner: Kofi Kingston

Dan-e-o says: I gotta admit that what I like about this match is that it's nearly impossible to pick a surefire winner. I don't know which of these dudes is ready to take it to the next level, perhaps, other than Christian. My prediction on this week's episode of Tha O Show is that one of the brothers would go over. But do I choose against a Canuck? My hope is Christian. My guess is MVP. He's the guy who could carry this story the best, so I'll go with him.

Winner: MVP

Intercontinental Championship: JBL vs. Rey Mysterio

Andrew Gray says: Gotta go with JBL. Rumours are he’s retiring soon, so his big WrestleMania plan may be to retire as I-C champ.

Winner: JBL

D.J.B. says: I have a feeling that JBL won't even face Mastrio. The idea of him retiring as champ has been tossed around and it makes sense. Especially since "SmackDown" needs a color commentator and off the top of my head I can't thing of anyone better to do it than manboobs Bradshaw. Ballgame Michael...er JR.

Winner: JBL or something like that

Christopher Casur says: Mysterio is lost on "Raw". There's too much talent and he's just lost in the shuffle. I think he should be moved to a show with a smaller roster so that if WWE wants to showcase him, they have the ability to. However, that move cannot be made on April 13 if Rey Rey has some gold around his waist. Besides, JBL is doing a good job of putting over the title, why ruin that by taking it off of him so soon?

Winner: JBL

Dan-e-o says: Leave it to JBL to keep the audience intrigued. What will his history-making occurrence at 'Mania be? Either way, I think his reign needs to continue before his next retirement. The IC title picture is more interesting with the title around his waist. Besides, he's already eaten a clean pin from Rey Rey.

Winner: JBL

25-Diva Battle Royal

Andrew Gray says: Gail Kim will be crowned Ms. WrestleMania. They need to make her return seem as big as possible. A lot of fans may not remember her, and the newer ones might not even know who she is. They don’t want to pull a Christian here.

Winner: Gail Kim

D.J.B. says: Whatever happens during this match will be something I don't see. I've been having problems with my microwave recently, and I'll be fiddling with it trying to prepare some nachos for the rest of the show (unless of course this match splits the main events).

Winner: Sunny!

Christopher Casur says: Instead of watching this match, Dante and I are going to go out back and have a contest to see who can piss farther.

Winner: Dante Ross (What? Babyfaces always win at 'Mania)

Dan-e-o says: Okay, I've already chosen against one Canadian, I will not make it two. Gail Kim for Ms. WrestleMania. She just came back to the Fed, she needs the deserved push. Let's just hope that with a grand total of 50 titties in the ring at the same time, that at least one of them bounces out! Looking forward to that and whatever hijinks Santino may have up his sleeve.

Winner: Gail Kim

Tag Team Championship Unification Lumberjack Match: The Colóns (Carlito and Primo) vs. John Morrison and The Miz

Andrew Gray says: I'm going with Miz and Morrison - because I forgot about this match, and I'm trying to come up with something quickly.

Winner: Miz and Morrison

D.J.B. says: MNM really should come out of this match as the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championshipers. Though that should happen, it won't, the E doesn't dig things that make sense and are really good for business.

Winner: Colons

Christopher Casur says: I predicted this one a few weeks ago in "Tha A List Analysis". Obviously the wild card here is the involvement of the Bella twins. I can't shake the feeling that one of them will screw their team over. Based on the plans of Carlito and Primo that have backfired several times, resulting in the Bellas being embarrased. I'm fairly certain that Brie is going to turn, costing the Colon brothers the match.

And no, I don't think the lumberjacks will do anything other than get a nice WrestleMania payday. Props to whomever came up with the lumberjack idea, it does make sense based on the story thus far, and it allows the roster to get a nice payday. Who doesn't like getting paid?

Winner: John Morrison and The Miz

Dan-e-o says: I'm glad this match is on the card. Like the IC title, the tag straps are generally under-represented. Thank God for the unification too. As we continue to say, there really is no need for two different sets of tag straps considering the E rarely utilizes its tag team division. I thought originally that Miz and Morrison were likely candidates to go over in this one. But I think they also have the potential to have more successful singles pushes. (Well, Morrison anyway). I smell one of these two teams splitting up. And we already have a brother vs. brother feud on the show. Colons to win.

Winner: Primo & Carlito

i hope matt hardy wins, i prefer jeff, but i could imagine jeff delaying about hitting matt at the end and matt taking advantage and getting the win. as light as this card is, it very unpredictable in my opinion

P.A. said...

I like the fact that alot of the picks you guys had were different from each other. If there is gonna be a ppv that's supposed to be unpredictable it has to be mania and if it isn't then the Fed is doing something wrong.

HHH/Orton - I'm going for HHH on this one for the fact that he wasn't won a mania in years. I can't see him losing yet another main event on the biggest stage of the year yet again. On the other hand if Orton wins, he will get drafted to Smackdown which will lead to a Rated RKO feud. Look at how much Edge and Orton have improved since then.

Cena/Edge/Show - Cena will win. His movie is out and WWE is gonna push Cena even further down our throats, but come on. You how how much McMahon has a hard-on for Cena saying "the Champ is here".

HBK/Taker - Match of the night, and Taker takes it all. I do have 1 fear however, that the match is gonna end in a DQ somehow. I say O-show fans riot if it happens.

Damn, it took me having to see all the matches listed at once to realize that this is a damn strong 'Mania card. My thoughts:

- Orton should and will win in the final match of the night. Hunter, to his credit, isn't afraid to lay down at the biggest show of the year (though God knows he's had enough opportunities to). And Orton's "revolutionary change" (or whatever) to the WWE won't happen if he doesn't have the belt. Give him the belt and let him keep it until at least SummerSlam.

Who should win: Randy Orton
Who will win: Randy Orton

- Conversely, the World Heavyweight Championship match holds very little interest for me. Adding the Big Show to this one was a HUGE mistake. An Edge vs. Cena feud has great tension, as we've seen in the past, and they have very good matches too. (Something about facing a Canadian seems to bring out Cena's best; it happened when he angled with Jericho too.) This one could then have been the match to close out the night; but as it is, the whole thing is just messy and half-baked. And the love-triangle junk is almost insulting.

Who should win: Edge
Who will win: Edge

- The ECW Championship match is one where truly anything can happen, because, of course, THERE FUCKING ISN'T ONE. Really, WWE, there's no room on your much-vaunted four-hour show for this? As I saw suggested on this site a couple of weeks ago, Swagger vs. Evan Bourne would have been the best way to go with this. Will they maybe sneak this one in on the night, with Swagger looking for an opponent and someone taking him up on it? It won't happen, but it'd be nice if it did.

- Undertaker will of course win again, but I just want to say how good the run-up has been for this. In the build to just about any major feud, the two participants beat each other up, play some mind-games, yadda-yadda. But Michaels has bettered the Undertaker EACH TIME they've crossed paths here. The funeral scene on Raw was by far the best.

Who should win: Undertaker
Who will win: Undertaker

- Keeping with my generally heel-friendly wishes for this show, I think Matt should defeat Jeff in their Extreme Rules match, for exactly the reasons Chris Casur states. I also know it won't happen, and I also know it'll be hella fun to watch, regardless.

Who should win: Matt Hardy
Who will win: Jeff Hardy

- I hope the Legends still have some stuff left to show us. This may be one where the faces win for the hell of it, but I'm not sure if Jericho would be all that hurt by it. After all, he can say, he was outnumbered three (or four or five) to one, and it may only serve to make his character even more venomous, and therefore, hateable. But I hope he does win because I want him in the title picture.

Who should win: Chris Jericho
Who will win: The Legends

- Money in the Bank will be as fun and reality-suspending as it always is. ("Don't spend ten seconds stretching to touch the case! Just CLIMB ONE MORE RUNG, stupid!") I do like the inclusion of Mark Henry and Kane though, to give this match a slightly different feel than most of the last ones.

Who should win: Christian
Who will win: Kofi Kingston

- I'm going with the transplanted Texan (okay, the Anglo Texan) to keep the Intercontinental title. And I thought you guys would be lighting fireworks at the fact that this strap is finally being defended at WrestleMania again!

Who should win: JBL
Who will win: JBL

- Gail Kim for Miss WrestleMania? As one of the few people in that ring who will actually be able to wrestle, I say why not? I can't even find a complete list of who's in the match, so this one's a little tough to call. As long as it's one of Kim, Beth Phoenix, Mickie James and Natalya, I'll be happy. And since only one of those has any momentum, it's Kim.

Who should win: Gail Kim
Who will win: Gail Kim

- I say Miz and Morrison still have some tag-team juice left in them, but something tells me that they'll be the ones to break up, and the tag-team division will be poorer for it.

Who should win: Miz and Morrison
Who will win: The Colons

Finally, I know you can't get everyone in such a large roster onto one show, but I am surprised at some of the omissions this year from matches (including those who will be lumberjacks, but not counting Santino Marella, who we all know will have a hand in the women's match), especially with the attention some of them have gotten in the last year: Umaga, Kennedy, The Brian Kendrick, Khali, Jesse and Festus, R-Truth, Lance Cade (released after he looked set for a big push as Jericho's right-hand), etc.

I'm looking forward to it!

Triple H (c) vs. Randy Orton - WWE Championship

I am picking Orton. To have him not win would make me shit myself in anger. I’d be like one of those damned gorillas! HHH is a boring champ at this point. God, the idea of Orton as champ has my draws wet. Oh, wait. That’s rum. And shit.

Edge (c) vs. John Cena vs. The Big Show - Triple Threat Match - World Heavyweight Championship

I honestly don’t care. Edge hasn’t had a chance to stand alone as a champion. He has always had people watching his back and its old. Cena is…Cena. And Show as champ makes me laugh in a bad way, like, when you are crying and it sounds like laughing. I’ll go with Edge with help from Vickie.

JBL (c) vs. Rey Mysterio - Intercontinental Championship

There are so many rumors and shit involved with what JBL will do. Will he retire the belt or retire and replace Taz(z) as an announcer. Either way we lose. This is the definition of lose-lose. Rey as champ is funny. Maybe he’ll hotshot the belt to Kofi or something.

The Miz and John Morrison vs. Carlito and Primo Colon - Lumberjack Match - WWE and World Tag Team Championship Unification Match

I am afraid they will fuck around and split up MnM. The Colons are dull. I don’t know what it is about Carlito’s brother but its like he is there just to get whipped until carlito finishes the match. And I hate their outfits. I am gonna go out on a limb and say MnM.

Shawn Michaels vs. The Undertaker

Undertaker. Are we really asking this question?

Matt Hardy vs Jeff Hardy - Extreme Rules

Matt wins and then beats Rey for the belt three weeks from now. I am psychic, bitches!

Chris Jericho vs Ricky Steamboat, Jimmy Snuka, and Roddy Piper w/Ric Flair

I am going with Jericho with help from Flair. That’s right, I said it.

Christian vs MVP vs Shelton Benjamin vs Mark Henry vs Kane vs Finlay vs Kofi Kingston vs CM Punk Money in the Bank Ladder Match

I am trying to care. I’ll go with Punk who then tries and fails to win the belt from Orton the same night.

I'm diggin DJB's pick of Sunny to take the DBR. Problem with that though is that Gail Kim is new to town...again. The other thing DJB said that I'm with is that Stephanie should turn on Triple H. If that happens, I'm buying every WWE PPV for the next year. Here though is a nice THC infused round of WrestleMania pick 'em.

Triple H b Orton
Big Show b Edge/Cena
Undertaker b Michaels
Gail Kim b 24 others
Jericho b legends
MnM b colons
Matt Hardy (there cannot be an oversaturated babyface show) b Jeff
Christian wins MitB
Rey Mysterio b JBL
Dante Ross b Chistopher Casur in pissing contest...you know what Casur, that's just gay dude.

Blazed and Confused said...

DJB is dead on, Stephanie should turn on Triple H. If that does happen I will buy each and every WWE PPV for the next year. That would be dope. Do you really think Sunny is going to win though? Gail Kim is new in town...again.

Here is your THC fueled WrestleMania pick em.

Triple H b Orton
Big Show b Cena/Edge
MNM b Colon Cancer
Gail Kim b divas
Christian wins MitB
Jericho b Legends
Undertaker b HBK
Matt Hardy b Jeff Hardy
Rey Mysterio b JBL

Casur, dude did you really even suggest a pissing contest? That's gay dude, that is very, very gay. Almost beyond gay.

Fuck you.

That's all you deserve in response to your Cena-level intellectual responses, but since Donnie and Dan brought me on the team to express opinions and analyze, I'll go ahead point out the obvious.

There is nothing that I said that you took exception to that one of the other people on this site didn't agree with, either in this article or at some other point in recent history. I get that because Donnie and Dan have heeled on me, that you and the other haters think it makes you cool to be like them and blindly spew hate at whomever they rip on, but at least put an ounce of thought into what you write before putting your foot in your mouth.

Get out of my face with that weak shit. Come back when you've got a real opinion and not "I hate you" and "Are you retarded?".

Some guys really need to grow up. Casur is right, you guys hate on him because he got heeled on by Donnie and Dan on the show. Let it go. He's well spoken, and opinionated. That's why he's on the team. He's also literate. Which is another big reason he's on the team.

At different times over the last few years each writer for Tha O Show has come under fire. Two of us a little more than others, but that's just the name of the game. I guess people just can't handle polarizing figures. Some folks just need to grow up.
