WWE, MMA & ROH Tidbits

Courtesy of AngryMarks.com:

We've got a lot of John Cena items to kick off this update! Cena recently did an interview with the Patriot Ledger to promote 12 Rounds. He also also did a video interview with KTLA out of Los Angeles.

It's also worth nothing but Cena will be on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on" Monday (after being bumped for President Obama last Thursday) and "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" on Tuesday. Last but not least, John Cena will be a presenter at the Nickelodeon Kid's Choice Awards this Saturday and Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson will host.

Jim Ross has posted his latest blog with some thoughts on drug abuse in wrestling.

Additional thoughts on the late Andrew Martin, I feel that all wrestling organizations should begin instilling in their prospects early in the training process the dangers of drug abuse and that it has no place any where especially in the wrestling business. On-going education regarding drug abuse should be covered as in depth as learning to withstand a body slam.

I know that I am old school and damn proud of it for the record but I also think that wrestling students should be challenged with written tests as well as the established physical tests that they endure and that drug education should be an important part of their curriculum. To be fair, some training entities may already be doing some of these things but education at an early age is key to this problem that I feel (I hope) has peaked and will become less of an issue as time goes by but this issue will never be completely eradicated because humans are, well, human.

WWE has raised the price of WrestleMania by $5 this year. The base price is now $54.95. With buyrates dropping due to the economy, they are assuming that their loyal fanbase will pay the extra $5 and help make up for the lower number of buyers.

Last but not least Media Daily News has an article up on how MyNetworkTV is nullifying all their current affiliate deals as part of their change to airing only repeat programming outside of Smackdown. The previous five year affiliate deals will now be changed to annual deals.

Bobby Lashley went 2-0 in his MMA career at last night's "March Badness" PPV, getting a unanimous decision victory over Jason Guida. Guida had Lashley in trouble during the third round, locking in a tight guillotine, but Lashley was able to escape and held on for the victory. In other MMA results from the card, Jeff Monson defeated Roy Nelson via three straight 29-28 decisions, Din Thomas defeated Gabe Lemley via TKO in the first round and 'Cowboy Karate' Dennis Hallman defeated Danny Ruiz via submission in round one.

Ring of Honor pulled 'Sweet N Sour' Larry Sweeney from all of the weekend's events. There are rumors that the company has suspended him, but ROH has refused to comment at this time.

Ring of Honor World Champion Nigel McGuinness was injured at this weekend's Elizabeth, PA show. The injury to his arm was severe enough that ROH called a doctor to examine him at the event. There is a possibility that he will need surgery. Despite this McGuinness still planned to work his ROH Title match against KENTA on Saturday night as scheduled.

Caught Cena on Kimmel last week. Dude really has major JELOCITY for The Rock. He always has a little bitch ass remark to make about Rock every time someone brings him up. For Fucks sake, get over it! He and Triple H both are such bitches when it comes to the Rock. The guy had a run, cashed in early and left with his health and made a pretty decent living for himself making movies. Who cares if he doesn't want to wrestle. Peep the video to see what a bitch ass mark this guy is:
