Charles Lewis Dies In Car Crash

This article was sent to us by Notorious T.I.D. on Wednesday evening. Thanks to Tid for passing this along to us, even while on vacation...

I wanted to take this time to add an update to this week's episode of "Tha Pit Stop". One of the founders and co-creators of world famous clothing line Tapout, is dead. Charles Lewis, otherwise known to everyone as "Mask" was killed when his Ferrari was split in two by a light poll in Newport Beach California.

I had heard the rumour but did not want to mention it until I had confirmation and now that I have confirmed it, is my sad duty to inform you all of this tragedy.

The accident happened around 1 am on Wednesday morning and police were not releasing any names until the next of kin had been notified.

The rest of the crew at Tapout have released this message:

"It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we must regretfully confirm the passing of our beloved friend, brother and co-founder Charles "Mask" Lewis following a car accident that occurred last night. We are currently in the process of setting up a memorial service in his honor and will release more details as they become available.

Many thanks to all for the outpouring of blessings and well-wishes during this incredibly difficult time."

I can remember meeting these guys for the first time years ago when they were still selling shirts out of the backs of their car at local shows around the USA, and still to this day I can honestly say that there is not a better crew of guys you could possibly meet. Despite all of the popularity of the clothing line, the TV show and the massive amounts of media exposure they garnered, Mask always made time to not just speak to his fans but took the time to actually "talk WITH" his fans. Never have I ever heard about him being a 'holier than thou' asshole but always just the opposite, a class act every minute of every day.

There are very few people that can bring to the table the kind of energy and charisma that he did and it will be impossible to ever try and replace his role in the Tapout crew.

What really pisses me off about this whole thing is we live in a world where scumbags, wife-beaters, pedophiles and many other low-life degenerate, give nothing to society, dregs of the earth go on living free and clear and the good guys still get fucked like this.

If there is any kind of justice in this world? The person driving the white Porsche that ran him into that pole, will get a maximum sentence for his part in all of this. That person is Jeffrey David Kirby, 51, of Costa Mesa and he has been charged with gross vehicular manslaughter and DUI. That's right, the asshole was drunk, and to top it off when the accident happened, he drove off. He didn't stay to try and help or nothing. He left a man to die so for that I say hang him from the highest tree.

Now most of you are probably saying, "Well he was probably racing with the guy and lost control and that's his own fault". I don't think that death is ever a "punishment" for street racing but I do think that death should be a punishment for killing another human. No question about it.

So, to the crew at Tapout (Punkass and Skyscrape), the thoughts and prayers of millions go out to you in this most brutal of times for you and even though I have never been a religious man by any means, I too will send all of my well wishes to you and yours at this time and just try to remember something my Grandfather always said to me, "keep your head up and your heart strong and never let anyone or anything knock you down without a fight". It will get better, it has to.

That is really fucked up. I have seen Tap Out everywhere but never knew who was behind it. Sucks that I finally get to see one of the faces but its after some shit like this.

There are tons of assholes running around that I wish weren't (all I have to do is look outside at the same freaks and tweakers that still live while my brother is in the ground). But that's for a vengeful God to decide their fates, I guess.
