No Way Out: Not As Expected

Normally, I'm not all that down with No Way Out. Over it's history, it has more often served as a transitional pay-per-view that was ultimately meaningless in most storylines. With only one or two exceptions (2001 and maybe 2004), I generally would walk away with the feeling that I paid $40 for a three-hour "Raw", and that this pay-per-view was put on simply because WWE wanted a pay-per-view every month. Our own Andrew Gray even based on his predictions off of how they would use this card to build WrestleMania.

This year, however, this was not the case. No Way Out, while it did feature some predictability, also served to shake things up big time in WWE.

Edge was heavily favored to retain his title in his Elimination Chamber match, and he ended up getting eliminated in damn near the blink of an eye. Ultimately, Kozlov's undefeated streak was ruined, and Triple H went over to win the championship again. I'm sure there are a lot of people who are hot over Triple H winning again, but suck a dick, he's not going to have the title for very long anyway.

In response to losing his WWE Championship, Edge jumped Kofi Kingston before the "Raw" elimination chamber match, a move which I'm sure Dan-e-o popped for. Edge ultimately pinned Rey Mysterio to be the last man standing and become an 8-time champion. So now both champions are on "SmackDown!"

The fans win here, no question about it. Orton will face either Edge or Triple H at WrestleMania, and either match will be incredible. My early prediction would be Orton vs. Triple H and Edge vs. John Cena. God knows WWE loves interpromotional matches at WrestleMania, and these two title matches would be gold, no pun intended. Edge somehow manages to bring out the best in Cena, and Orton vs. Triple H could be every bit as entertaining as Michaels vs. Angle from WrestleMania 21.

The third world title match didn't have as much surprise to it, but it was a solid match and it allowed Swagger to gain a little experience as well as a little rub. I still want to see Swagger hold onto the championship until One Night Stand because of the ongoing Tommy Dreamer angle, because he can really help to get himself over as a heel by not only holding the title for that long, but also by being the guy who sent Tommy Dreamer packing. Plus, you know, it can't hurt to have one of the titles not be hotshotted around.

Randy Orton beat Shane McMahon in a match that saw both guys get their shit in. I personally would have preferred a squash, that would have really helped Randy's character in my opinion. Sure, it makes Shane look knee, but odds are good that in a week or two he'll disappear and be gone for another year or so again. By the time he comes back, who's gonna care?

Shawn Michaels beat JBL to win his freedom. I have no qualms about this match, provided this wasn't the blowoff. Let these two have a match at WrestleMania, and it will absolutely tear the house down in my opinion. Maybe it's just my combination of wishful thinking and fantasy booking, but this year's WrestleMania shows a lot of promise.

Can't wait to hear the Black Prophet rant about Edge killing the only black guy on the card......Black History Month indeed.

Since the DQ wasn't called for Rebecca's slap, look to see the JBL/HBK to continue. JBL can be just a big dick and say he isn't going to pay because of bad officiating.

So what do you want to see? A Rated RKO WM 25 match, or an Evolution WM 25 match?

WWE had balls to put on a PPV that had only 5 matches, with two of them going off the expected path, I think they will have a better than average PPV buys this week....let's be honest, how many people actually skipped the PPV?

Seeing Triple H and the Undertaker at the end of their match, I wonder if they are going at WM 25. Remember that WM X-7, which was also in Houston, they went at it.

Last bit of thought: Edge may not want to be out there at Raw tonight, cause last time he was on that show with that particular belt......

i really wanted the final two in the raw chamber match to be jericho vs. edge. that would of been so much more better.

The problem with all thith ith that Triple Hth ith a thirtheen time world thampion. All thatth happening is they are hot thoting the thtrap to him tho he can patth Flair.

Bullthit.

What about HHH vs Michaels and Orton vs. Edge. I know its face/face, heel/heel, but it could be interesting

I was thinking H vs. Orton and Edge vs. Cena. I actually have no clue how this is going to work considering we aren't that far from Mania, a month and a half and neither championship match has had any build.

Here's my fantasy booker idea. 4 way ladder match, with each strap hanging on opposite sides of the ring.

HHH, Michaels, Edge, and Orton.

Either that, or a Russeo-esque idea of a tag match, micheals and HHH vs Orton and Edge. If Edge's team wins, edge retains, and orton wins the strap from HHH, and if HHH wins, he retains and Micheals steals Edge's strap.

I think I like the ladder match idea

dont have a clue what to make of the ppv, with the straps hot shotting all the time it kinda takes the shine of someone getting at mania and doesnt seem as a massive achievement as it used to be. maybe its just me i dont no

I would have to think it's going to be Orton vs HHH. I say this because how many times does Orton talk about how Legacy is going to surpass Evolution as the greatest stable of all time? In order to do that, he would have to knock off the leader of Evolution. Just makes sense storyline wise. Only way this doesn't happen is if Cena wants his gay ass spinning belt back so he goes against HHH.

Interesting thought: where does last night's events put Orton? Here is guy that has beaten up the GM's father and brother, but is the only one on her roster with a guaranteed shot at one of the world title's. Will they put Triple H vs. Orton with Stephanie backing Orton?
