What was thought to be a "sure bet" might be changing as rumors are swirling that there is a strong movement within creative to put the WWE Title on Jeff Hardy.
The rumors started around Thursday and picked up steam when both John Cena and Mick Foley made their support for Jeff Hardy public. Both men when interviewed by outside media said that it would be stupid not to give Jeff Hardy the belt since he has so much momentum going in his favor.
Apparently those comments didn't' sit too well with certain people.
A win for Jeff Hardy would almost automatically mean that his title run would be short as there are no plans for him to involved in the main event at WrestleMania. With Cena confirming this week that he will not be wrestling at the spring spectacular, it is almost a given that Triple H will face Randy Orton for the WWE Title. Changing plans for the biggest show is not something Vince likes doing.
The last time WWE was faced with a situation was when local boy Edge cashed in his "Money In The Bank" and held the WWE Title in January of 2006. Edge got over as a strong heel and had good momentum going into his match with John Cena at the Royal Rumble.
So much that there was similar forces in WWE creative to keep the belt on Edge and have him drop it to Cena at WrestleMania 22. However, the plan had been for a while to go with Cena vs HHH and those plans were kept.
Amazing how some things just never change.
With the PPV just a few hours away there is still talk of a major change in the WWE Title match. Things are definitely looking more interesting for this show.

WTF!!!!! DIE CENA DIE
Cena pulled a Tom Brady! Fucking Bostonians. FUCK THIS BULLSHIT! Allow the hatred to begin flowing once again.
I know you guys are all Cena haters, but the pop he got when he came out was awesome. Definately a great thing for the business to have the people pop like that. Good job by the E to keep that a secret(Unless everyone already knew he was returning except me!)

Rico, Cena's initial pop WAS great, I can't deny that but in no way does that one pop mean good things for the biz.
I liked the fact that it was kept a secret, I can't deny that. But now, all those guys who wanted a chance are going to get fucked.
Cena's numbers aren't impressive, not only did they go down during every reign he's in, but they WILL go down again. Cena is good for a live crowd because of the 8 year olds and teenage girls.
Cena is just as good for business as Triple H. They both have their fair share of fans, but it's not enough to translate into a major ratings boost. That AND the E doesn't know how to give them in small doses. People are sick of them after 5 months unless they're just die-hard marks for the guy.
Why not let Jeff have a crack at it, he is better then he was and he couldn't be any worse then Cena or HHH being it, one is past it and the other could never do it!
Aye. I too would like to see Jeff have a crack at it, be better than Triple Shit or John "Crappy" Cena always winning the damn thing!
D.J.B., I have to be honest with you, I was away for Cena's run and didnt have the chance to see him work so I cant comment about him or how he was as champion. I take all your words that he was horrible, I just thought the pop was incredible and thought it was a positive(the pop from the ppl) on a pretty dull PPV.
I try and take the positive out of a bunch of negatives!
