Shocking Knockout

After watching Matt Serra shock the world and become the new UFC Welterweight Champion, you would think the MMA world would be more accustomed to seeing upsets. Well, in what can only be properly described as a complete surprise, Gabriel Gonzagga landed a powerful high kick to the temple of Mirko Cro Cop and knocked him out in the first round.

The relative unknown came into the octagon a huge underdog as many were already getting ready for a Cro Cop versus Couture showdown for the Heavyweight strap. Let's just say this turn of events has changed all that.

The big match between Cro Cop and Couture has been put on hold as this would theoretically put Gonzaga in contention for a shot against the champion. With former champion Andrei Arlovsky victorious last night and UFC resigning Brandon Vera, the heavyweight division has become more competitive then it has ever been.

According to reports, Cro Cop was walking around on his own strength today but was noticeably limping. Cro Cop has apparently indicated that he will not be retiring as was rumored last night and will be making a commitment to returning better than ever. Mirko Cro Cop's track record for returning from major losses is strong as he has proven in the past after his loss to Kevin Randleman.

In other matches last night ;

Paul Taylor over Edilberto Crocota by KO.

Jess Liaudin over Dennis Siver by submission in Round 1

Alessio Sakara over Victor Valimaki by KO in Round 1

Junior Assuncao over David Lee by rear naked choke in Round 2

Terry Etim over Matt Grice by guillotine choke in Round 1

Cheick Kongo over Assuerio Silva by decision (29-28, 29-28, 28-28)

Lyoto Machida over David Heath by unanimous decision

Michael Bisping over Elvis Sinosic by TKO in Round 2

Andrei Arlovski over Fabricio Werdum by unanimous decision

o and another thing why would it be banned IF IT WAS A WORK, if people knew it was a work MMA would be a legal sport in ontario think about that one.

Cockfighting is still legal in some places. It may not be a complete work, but there is just TOO much success in the underdog category. I personally feel when there is that much money on the line when it it is 2 men alone that there is always going to be some sort of a work. Another thing you're telling me that for 10's of thousands of dollars you wouldn't get knocked out? I know I would.

id get knocked out for 10 000 but the way that man got knocked out yea right. i dont know how he could stand up at the end. did you see how his knee and ankle twist that shit was real man.i know cockfighting is legal.there may be too success in the underdog category but i can explain the last two big fights. sierra capitalized on a mistake gsp made, that ANYONE couldve done.gsp underestimated matt. you or me my friend couldve won the title after someone slipped.secondly the cro cop fight, cro cop just got his ass kicked by a better man that night. when cro cop tried to get gonzaga he grabbed his leg and then it was ground fighting intil herb called them up. i honestly think it isnt a work intil i see something that i saw in boxing a few years ago intil then ill think what i think and you will have your opinion. if it is somehow a work oneday i need a new career plan because i dont think theres anything better then kicking the shit out of someone for money

If you're hell bent on kicking peoples asses for a living, move to New Yawk, or LA or somewhere, guys make careers out of being bouncers. It may not be 100% worked I will give you that.
