While many O-sters have now found better ways to spend their Thursday evenings, I have not stopped watching TNA. For some reason.
Nonetheless, "iMPACT!" has gotten slightly better as of late (if you consider the matches actually having winners an improvement), and tonight's pay-per-view offering, Lockdown, shows signs of possibly being a great show.
However, there is no middle of the road here. Monday morning, there is either going to be an article extolling this event or bashing the hell out of it. With the way TNA has been lately, this show is either going to be a massive "O" or the biggest "NO" in TNA history.
The matchups are intriguing, there are minimal (brace yourself, Donnie) "death bed" type gimmick matches, and most importantly, it's not an entire carbon copy of the last two pay-per-views. With that being said, here are my predictions for the night of Six Sides of Steel known as Lockdown.
Christy Hemme's team VS. Voodoo Kin Mafia
This may be the most pointless feud TNA has ever had. A manager feuding against a tag team usually only works if the team is billed as legitimate in the first place. VKM has wrestled a total of two, maybe three matches since they changed their name back in November. I expect the fans to shit on this one as much as they did last month's match.
Winners: VKM
Austin Starr VS. Senshi - Special Referee Bob Backlund
I have no idea which way this match is going to go. Backlund's obviously going to play some role in the match. I'm going to say that Senshi wins, Starr blames it on Backlund, and Backlund VS. Starr is set up for next month. I doubt any of us actually want to see that, but TNA probably thinks we do.
Winner: Senshi
Gail Kim VS. Jackie Moore
Ugh. The match has a storyline behind it, but that's the only thing it has going for it. I'm gonna say Moore wins because of how she got built up so quick in TNA.
Winner: Jackie Moore
Petey Williams VS. Robert Roode
Canada, stand up and cry in unison as two of your finest athletes are now being billed from somewhere other than their home country. Both of these men deserve huge pushes, but neither are getting them. Roode is getting the weakest push I have ever seen and Williams is getting shit. I'll say Robert Roode, and I'll also go out on a limb and say Eric Young turns heel in this match.
Winner: Robert Roode
Jerry Lynn VS. Christopher Daniels
This is simple booking. The guy with the new gimmick they're trying to push goes over on the veteran. On a personal note though, I sincerely hope that the rumors about Daniels sufferring from depression are not true. The guy's an amazing talent and a stand-up guy (I met him briefly one time and talked to him one-on-one for a few minutes), and TNA would be losing a lot if they lost him.
Winner: Christopher Daniels
Chris Harris VS. James Storm - Blindfold Match
This is one of the two cheesy gimmick matches going on this show. I'm not sure why they're deciding to do this, but I'm going to guess that Moore runs out to distract the referee, Storm removes his blindfold just long enough to deliver a Superkick, and pins Harris. This could be a feud with some great matches, but this will certainly not be one of those great matches.
Winner: James Storm
Chris Sabin VS. Sonjay Dutt VS. Jay Lethal VS. Alex Shelley VS. Shark Boy - X Division Championship Xscape Match
None of these guys are getting any type of a push with the exception of Jay Lethal, who wins the award for worst TNA gimmick ever. Seriously, his hair looks horrible out like that, when he tries to do that lip thing that Savage does, he looks like he's having a stroke, and his attire just makes him look gay. However, he is a great athlete, and as far as storylines go, he's the only guy that it
makes sense to put the title on.
Winner: "Black Machismo" Jay Lethal
LAX VS. Team 3D - Tag Team Championship Electric Cage Match
Big Daddy Donnie, brace yourself, it's about to be mentioned again. This gimmick is almost as bad as the "death bed" from last month's pay-per-view. I don't forsee there being many spots involving the sides of the cage, nor do I forsee any real high spots in this match. 3D will win to culminate a feud that was poorly drawn out.
Winner: Team 3D
Team Cage (Cage, Steiner, Styles, Abyss, Tomko) VS. Team Angle (Angle, Joe, Sting, Rhino, Jarrett) - Lethal Lockdown
With the stipulation that the winner gets a shot at Cage's title at Sacrifice, this match now has the potential to be the biggest "NO" ever. There are only three guys in this match that I am cool with winning. Angle, Joe and Styles. That's it.
Nobody else in this match has the proper build-up right now to be a legit title contender in a pay-per-view main event. I have this horrible nagging voice inside of my head that Jarrett's going to get the pin, but because Angle got named the captain and now Joe (whom Cage had his most recent title defense against), I'm going to guess that this match sets the stage for Angle to win the title next month.
Winner: Kurt Angle
TNA needs this event to deliver if they want to turn things around. If they don't deliver, though, you can believe me that all of O-ster nation will hear about it Monday morning.

Im a lil confused here - on prowrestling.com they said Sting got the win. So who won Sting or Kurt Angle?????
Jarrett turns around and Jarrett doesn’t swing, instead he clocks Abyss! Jarrett tells Sting to cover Abyss. Sting is hesitant. Sting covers Abyss and gets the pinfall. Jarrett then extends his hand to Sting. Joe and Rhino come in the ring. Sting isn’t shaking his hand. Then he finally does. Rhino shakes Jarrett’s hand and Rhino reluctantly shakes his hand. Angle climbs down the cage, looks at Jarrett, and shakes his head and leaves. Jarrett runs up the ramp and walks next to Angle but Angle pays no mind to him as we go off the air. Your Winner and #1 Contender: Sting

These were my predictions, not the results, lol.
Oh I get it Brian, thats why you called it Lockdown Predictions, you tricky devil.
Results looked pretty good, I forgot it was coming on, I had to watch the Soprano's anyway.
