Essa Rios VS. Samoa Joe

I just came across this gem from March 3rd 2001. It's a match from "WWF Jakked" (RIP) between long time smark favs Essa Rios (Papi Chulo for life) and current TNA star Samoa Joe.

Pay no attention to The Coach and Michael Hayes. They spend the entire match talkin about XFL and the Radicalz. This match just seemed to get in the way of their chat. Anyway, I thought the O-sters would get a kick out of this.

Nice. Looks like WWE put their money on the wrong guy, eh? I went on YouTube once and found a Taka vs. Christopher Daniels match, I think from around the time the LH division was getting started. And I think Alex Shelly was in the LH title tournament. It all seems so long ago . . .

Joe's ring attire leaves a lot to be desired. He looked so indy but his work was very impressive. He even had the cripness and explosiveness then, but the look really took away from it.

Ron Simmons watches match, looks at Vince after seeing it and seeing what Joe became...

DAMN

At least in my head it played out that way. Wasn't it Jakked or Metal or some junk like that where HurriShane wrestled A.J. Styles?

Yeah, Styles also once had a tryout match on Jakked.

That's funny; all three guys who were involved in TNA's 2005 Match Of The Year and two of the guys involved in 2006's got rejected by McMahon. Two of them are now legitimate main eventers in TNA, and the third will get there sooner or later. If you're the now incredibly over doghouse darling CM Punk, the thought of returning to TNA as a hugely popular face has got to make your dick hard.

As soon as Russo leaves, give it 2 months and almost the entire wrestling world living in the doghouse will be beating off thinking about TNA.

Damn you are my hero for puttin' that up. Those were my glory days of wrestling viewing. I loved Essa Rios, but I completely forgot about him until now lol. Joe looked good. I don't know after watching that match why Vince wouldn't him to stick around.

I found it hillarious how hard Hayes and Coach were trying to put over the XFL.

i was hardly even interested in wwe during that time period and i caught this match... talk about Back in the Day

Its amazing skitlez. It sounds like a joke, but putting the XFL was a joke. But rearrange the sentence and you've got it. XFL is OVER, and not in a good way.

Wow for half the match the "announcers" were talking about the XFL. Thet barely mentioned the match.
