Mr. Kennedy...Kennedy is going to the Royal Rumble! As predicted by many of the O-sters, Mr. Kennedy will now be facing Batista for the World Heavyweight Championship at the Royal Rumble.
Quite frankly, he has a damn good shot at defeating "The Animal" and becoming a hero and savior to Tha O Show crowd.
He's done it all on "SmackDown!". He's defeated six former world champions. He's had a relatively successful feud against the Undertaker. He's been the United States Champion. Now he's the winner of the "Beat the Clock Challenge".
He's got the ability, the charisma, and most importantly the momentum in order to usurp Batista's throne. Screw it. I'm calling it right now...Mr. Kennedy will become World Heavyweight Champion at the Royal Rumble.
The "O" of the night goes to my boy MVP for taking a sick bump on the metal stairs. The third degree burned back of MVP was slammed against the metal stairs by of all people, Vito. JBL was absolutely right. Vito is a disgrace. MVP is indeed a hero. I'm becoming a bigger MVP mark by the week. Mark my words: MVP is a future world champion. It's just a matter of time.
How long has it been since you've seen a really good tag team title match on WWE television? I literally can't remember. Friday night, we were treated to a tag team clinic by two of the best teams on the planet, London and Kendrick and Regal and Taylor. This match was a classic tag team match in the style of the old school 80's WWF tag team legacy. The stiff heel team dominated most of the match only to fall victim to a hot tag and a quick back slide for the win.
Quite frankly, I was surprised. I thought Regal and Taylor were going over the champs. London and Kendrick have held those tag straps for over eight months with no end to their reign in sight. Creative has also seemingly scrapped the break-up they were hinting at for a couple weeks involving Ashley. Good call. With the Hardy's, MNM, and the Spirit Squad all out of the tag picture, the E needs teamslike London and Kendrick to carry the division.
Speaking of MNM, Joey Mercury is set to make waves as a singles competitor on "SmackDown!". In the tradition of guys like the Undertaker, Brutus Beefcake, Virgil and Chris Nowinski, Mercury will be the guy wrestling in the protective face gear. A Matt Hardy/Joey Mercury program could be just as good as Hardy/Helms if not better, and could serve as the launching pad these two guys need to make it to the next level on the "SmackDown!" roster.
Next week, Chris Benoit will face Chavo Guerrero once again for United States Championship. This time it will be a No Disqualification Match. I've got to believe that Chavo will finally take the strap off Benoit. They've been hinting at it for months. If Chavo isn't going to do it next week, he's not going to do it at all.
I look at it as the culmination of Chavo's heel turn. Becoming U.S. champ is the payoff Chavo needs since turning his back on Rey Mysterio and stepping out of the shadow of Eddie. If he is to stand on his own two feet without Rey, Eddie, or Vickie, he needs to beat Chris Benoit next week.
The wild card is Vickie Guerrero. Where will she end up by the end of the night? I'm not quite sure where they're going with the whole Vickie thing and quitefrankly, this storyline has already run its course. It's time they end it next week.

I doubt Kennedy will win. Titles rarely change hands at the Rumble, they normally just present someone to feed to the champion and make them appear strong going into wrestlemania
cmon, we both watched the same show right? the Taker v Batista concrete hasnt solidified but its already in the mix... besides the last time a big title change happened at the rumble was the rock over mankind... 8 years ago (no i didnt just know that, i was curious so i had to research)...
But a taker interference is plausable... besides a three way dance for the belt would make it possible so the match is entertaining, batista keeps the belt, and taker's streak doesnt technically die... this would make more sense considering
1.taker and batista havent locked up... and
2.considering how long it can take batista to click others (when its not a squash)...
3. Kennedy and taker have great chemistry, so the match wont completely suck
4. a taker v batista program could mount, leading to one more taker title run
5. the match will include somewhat of a "heel"
6. Kennedy and batista put together a few B grade matches, and there are hopes of that improving
i could go on forever
oh, and its not a superstition... its science, art, and business rolled into the greatest entertainment product out there
