Thursday's Thoughts on a Friday

Former WWE Tough Enough winner Daniel Puder has been bashing Kurt Angle again lately. This time he used the MMA Weekly website as his means of communicating his message.

Word is, Angle did everything in his power to bury Puder and had a lot of influence into the decision that saw him released shortly after winning the competition. Why would Angle be interested in seeing Puder let go? Rumor has it, Angle held all kinds of animosity towards the kid for making him look bad during an episode of Tough Enough when Kurt was caught in a tight keylock, applied by Puder.

Here are some of the notable quotes from Puder’s recent interview.

When asked about catching Angle in his keylock:
"Kurt came over and challenged everybody else. I raised my hand, so I got to go in and I was the lucky number two to wrestle him, and I key-locked his ass and made him look like an idiot on national television. And he wasn’t very happy about it. That’s pretty much what happened”

Puder has often said he’s like to extract some measure of revenge on the Olympic gold medalist – but not in a pro wrestling match.

"It’s not like I’m going out there and I’m doing pro-wrestling. If he wants to compare me vs. him in pro-wrestling; the guy’s been doing it forever. The guy won the 96 Olympics and he started pro-wrestling like what, a year or two later? I know he’s a tough guy, he’s broken his neck a couple of times; he won the Olympics with a broken neck… the guy is tougher than balls. He’s probably one of the toughest guys out there. He wouldn’t tap out when I had him in a key lock, and I thought it would break, it should have broken; I wish it would have broken… then I really could have had something on him."

How confident is Puder that he would win this fight?

"Let’s say I fight for UFC or Strikeforce or WFA, whoever I fight for at that match with Kurt I’d be willing to put – if I lost – let’s put it that way, I would be willing to bet my money that I would make on that fight vs. his money that he makes on that fight for the winner. I’d put up every single penny. So, if I made a million bucks, if I get Pay-Per-Views or whatever else, I’d be willing to put that million dollars up against his million that I’d beat him."

Angle has said many times since his WWE release that he’d like to compete in MMA and feels he could beat Chuck Lidell and Tito Ortiz. Puder responded to that statement.

"He’s an amateur wrestler and a pro-wrestler, and even though he won the gold medal, I key-locked his ass and I wasn’t even trying, which means Tito and Chuck, they would knock his ass out, and I plan on doing the same thing"

When asked if he felt Kurt has kicked his addiction to pain pills, Puder said "He said he hasn’t taken pain meds in 18 months, which I knew for a fact that he has."

It will be interesting to see if this goes anywhere and if these two manage to lock up in a cage somewhere.

UFC President Dana White apparently has no interest in using Angle while he’s under TNA contract because he doesn’t want the line between MMA and pro wrestling to become blurred.

The Marine has been a box office bust. Don’t let anyone who works for the WWE spin you otherwise.

Monty Brown was at Raw this week, and despite reports that say the WWE has not had any formal negotiations with him, he has been telling friends he has a verbal agreement and will be starting soon.

Apollo is begging to get back into TNA and back into the LAX. Do they need him? Hell no. Apollo is average AT BEST. Homicide and Hernandez have great chemistry and compliment each other as a team beautifully. If LAX were going to add a member it would have to be a top drawer singles wrestler to bring singles gold to their camp. Konnan has his choice. He wants Senshi. So far management has denied his requests.

Just as I was getting all excited about the reunited Blue Bloods, Dave Taylor went and tore his meniscus. He had surgery yesterday and will be on the shelf at LEAST six months.

Ron Simmons is now the WWE ambassador at large. An article was published on WWE.com this week where Simmons talked about his new job. It sounds about as important as Doug Gilmour’s spot with the Leafs. Can’t we find an on-air role for Faarooq? Hell, fire Michael Cole and have him and JBL call Smackdown!

The former 2 Cold Scorpio (Charlie Scaggs) has resigned with the E and will be re-debuting his brutal Godfather-light gimmick, Flash Funk. Flash is scheduled to appear at the December 4th SmackDown house show in Lisbon, Portugal.

Many O-sters have emailed me asking “What’s up with Harry Smith?” The kid who has been called “pound for pound the best wrestling in the world today”, has been held off of WWE house shows for about a month due to “creative having nothing for him”. He has been at the last two Raw house shows, and should be making a TV debut soon.

How hard is it to give Harry Smith an angle? “Hi, I’m Harry Smith. My dad was Davey Boy Smith and I’m here to carry on his legacy”. Done. If you want him to be a heel, do a whole anti-drug thing with him, where he talks about how drugs tooks his dad’s life and he despises anyone who’s not clean. This leads to feuds with Triple H, Chris Masters or [insert juice monkey here]. Could also form a nice union with CM Punk.
There is interest from the WWE in Chris Hero, a long time friend of Tha O Show. Here’s hoping the guy who used to wrestle as “Wife Beater” gets his big break after all these years.

Just weeks after appearing on Raw with Ric Flair, Ted DiBiase has been released from his WWE contract and relieved of his duties as an agent.

MTV's wrestling project, Wrestle Society X project is “allegedly” going to start airing on MTV in January.

This turkey has been in the oven for about two years. I don’t know why they’re sitting on it but man, it had better be good. On the WSX roster: Sean Waltman, Vampiro, Teddy Hart, Matt Sydal, Jack Evans and the Human Tornado.

That’s it for me O-sters.

Buy our merch, and if you’re in the GTA come check us out Saturday at the show in Oshawa to see Mike Elgin VS. Kanyon or Sunday at the Opera House in Toronto to see Stranglehold Wrestling’s King of the Death Match Tournament!

Puder's comments are sumbolic of kicking a man when he's down. Kurt Angle has suffered numerous injuries over the past eight months, and his body is obviously no longer the same. He has had countless neck injuries, and his body, in all likelihood, isn't what it used to be. So what does Puder do? Try to call him out. Wow...you're real tough. I don't care if you are a great martial artist, doing something like that is classless. Maybe there was no call for Angle to talk smack and Liddell and Ortiz, but then again, back when Angle wanted to sign with UFC, it probably made for great publicity. With that in mind, I'm not so sure that Angle's comments weren't partly shoot.

So Ted DiBiase has been released...here's hoping that TNA brings him in to replace Don West.

By the way, anybody have any thoughts about the Jarrett interview last night? Work, shoot, good idea, bad idea, thoughts along that line?

Dude are you joking?

Flash Funk is returning???

NO!!!!

No disrespect to 2 Cold Scorpio but Flash Funk was one of the absolute wackest MVP-like gimmicks ever!

As far as I'm concerned if TNA is looking for replacements to call the action on their broadcasts, they should contact bigdaddy@thaoshow.com and daneo@thaoshow.com

The bigger problem with Jarrett taking some time off is this-

He was main eventing for such a long time, and now that he's gone, who do they have to be a top heel? Christian is mid-feud with Rhino right now, Joe and Angle are both feuding with each other. Pretty much the only heel top guys they potentially have are Abyss and (maybe) Raven. I really wouldn't want to see Sting vs. Abyss. Nor would I want to see Sting vs. Raven.

Well I for one like Raven as a top heal, but everything else you said, Hitman, I agree with. From Kurt Angle, to the Jarret face turn
