The LAX has made me a believer

I've been one of Konnan's biggest critics since his days in WCW. I remember conducting an interview with him once at a Nitro show in Buffalo and asking him some questions he didn't much care for. "Why do you always spit the exact same 3 lines? How about a little creativity?" Answer: 'My shit is over - why change?'. Question: "Why do you seem blown up two minutes into a match?" Answer: 'How many matches on Nitro last longer than that?' Konnan may have seemed like an odd roster addition for TNA, but in my opinion he has finally hit his stride.

The LAX - Latin American Exchange group he founded on December 31st of 2005, won the NWA tag team championship last week, culminating several months of solid work by this three man crew

Konnan plays the role of leader / manager. He gets to do what he does best. Exhert a ton of energy firing up the crowd, droppin punk cards and workin the mic. Homicide and Hernandez (a couple of former ROH stars) carry the load in the ring.

With Konnan constantly dropping references to the obvious racism in pro wrestling this angle has all the worked-shoot drama of Ron "The Truth" Killings when he first dropped his K-Kwik gimmick. I love truth in wrestling. I love seeing guys go out there with an issue. What bigger issue is there than feeling like the whole world is against you because of the colour of your skin?

Is it novel? No. Is it unique to this industry? No. Unlike so many others though, Konnan speaks with a brashness that seems to make even the biggest smarks (mainly white ones) just a little uneasy. The fact that Hernandez drops that FREAKIN' CRAZY Border Cross (aka The Mega Bomb) and Homicide works a fast paced insane style just makes them all the more enjoyable as a team.

I couldn't give a rat's ass about the Naturals right now. Sure they have one of my all time favs as their 'tutor' in Shane Douglas - but they still have no issue - no heat - no characters.

I look forward to some TLC style matches between LAX and Team 3D upon their impending return.

Don't hate on this team because you're sick of the guy at the helm. Give them a chance and you may ACTUALLY be impressed.
