Flair Gives Notice To WWE

One of the most turbulent times in WWE history appears to be getting worse with news coming out that Ric Flair has given his notice to WWE and is looking to leave the company.

At this time I cannot confirm the contract status of Ric Flair as it is very unusual that a contracted performer can simply leave a company and thus violate his agreement by quitting. Rumors indicate that Flair's contract is expiring and thus he is giving notice that he will not be resigning, but that is purely speculation and cannot be confirmed.

Reports indicate that Flair gave his notice on August 21, 2007 and has nothing to do with the recent steroid scandal that has rocked World Wrestling Entertainment.

To counter, WWE has offered Flair a major angle that would see him become a central character on television in an attempt to change his mind.

It is incredible how much WWE has dropped the ball on one of the true living legends in our industry. In recent years, Flair has been used far too often in the jobber role, losing to rising stars in an attempt to give them instant credibility. With so many losses, the aura and credibility of Flair has been damaged.

Even worse, Flair wrestled far too often on television and his matches did not carry any kind of special feel. Since the break-up of Evolution, Flair has been lost in the shuffle by being involved in forgotten programs with Carlito and Kenny Dykstra.

No one knows at this time what Flair's final decision will be.

One would imagine that there would be instant interest from TNA, but it should be noted that Ric Flair and Vince Russo have not been on the best of terms since their time in WCW.

We will have more on this story as it develops.

Good for Flair, fuck WWE!

If they're not going to respect the man then he shoudln't involve himself with them. Fuck a wrestlemania retirement match, they'd only fuck it up anyways.

good read frank, at least you know how to write an article, unlike donnie who always puts his own 2 cents in that nobody cares about, instead of just giving the news.
they left flair off wrestlemania. they made him follow in hhh's shadow & unlike hogan, he never got a final run as champ, just a belt on the sholder. i really hope he teaches them a lesson.

At this point in Flair's career he's only has one big angle left in him. After the draft when he moved to Smackdown! he should've been one of the featured players but, really didn't even get to make a dent never mind a impact. I'm sure Triple H has been on the phone with Flair as much as possable and the two of them will work something out. I'd really hate to see Ric go out like this. The WWE so needs the feel good moment and they can get that out of Flair if they just concentrate.

I personally don't need a Flair/WWE feel good moment. 20 years from now when I think Flair, I'll remember saturday morning NWA and wcw saturday nights on tbs. The only match i'll remember flair for in wwe is the cage match with HHH; if only for how live and bloody he was that night, givin hunter the finger, calling him a son of a bitch. That might as well have been his retirement match.

Last I knew, the WWE knew that Flair was on his way out. Plans were supposedly to run a retirement angle that would have culminated sometime between Royal Rumble and WrestleMania. Not sure if the plans changed, but with the horribly way they've been using him, and with the fact that the man is getting close to 60, I wouldn't blame him if he just stops showing up.

It's kind of sad that for how long Flair was in the WWE, his accompishments in that company alone would not get him into the hall of fame.

fuck them, he should leave. That company makes a lot of people sick now.

Hopefully if Flair does go to TNA, he makes it a provision that Russo can't be there. Russo has no place in wrestling anymore, and it's dumb that he can come around and still get a paycheck. What has he done for TNA? What did he do for WCW?

Flair is a much more valuable commodity, and hopefully TNA recognizes that.

Hopefully this don't mean an Orton kick to the head for Flair...

To anonymous, if you're gonna bash one of the writers, at least have the fuckin balls to use a name.
I can't say I'd miss Flair. Now it might have to do with how he's been used, or it might just be that every fuckin Flair match for the last few years has been, wooo, chop, Flair flop, chop, sideways back body drop, chop and finish. But that's just me.

I'ma big Flair fan and I was hoping for a WWE retirement tour and a big retirement match for Flair at WM 24.
I think if Falir goes to TNA he should maybe only a match or two and then become a figure head like a commissioner or something along those lines.

Nah, TNA doesn't need anyone in that position, they've already got Jim Cornette, the king of foul-mouthery. TNA also doesn't need anymore superstars, they already have too many on their roster. If Flair leaves WWE, I'd rather just see him call it a career.

I'd love to see Flair out of the WWE, but only because his treatment there has been terrible.

Triple H is one of Flair's so-called friends? Well if you've got a friend with that kind of pull, and you're that big a legend, I see no reason Flair shouldn't be a 2-3 time World Champion since his return in '01.

Wait, now that I've thought about it, yeah I can. You see Trips is a big "friend" to Flair, so it wont seem like such a big deal that he hasn't let Flair touch the gold. That way, Trips can keep piling on the World titles, and Flair is stagnant and can't pull away any farther.

I'd love to see Flair carry the World Heavyweight Championship uno mas, but it will not happen, and because of that, Fuck the WWE, and good for Naitch.

I agree Brian I don't really want to see Flair go to TNA but if he did I don't really seeing him actually wrestler there. I love Flair and he is great still on the mic and has a few more good matches in him but I can't see him hanging with guys like AJ Styles, Samoa Joe or Christopher Daniels.
I just wnat to see Flair go out like he should like they did when he wrestled Triple H a few years back for the World title.
